1.
Cheers! It's just a shame flats sound so boring out-of-context....
I dunno dude, I think it sounded really cool, nice bit of growl, and that's through my bloody MacBook speakers! I'm currently resurrecting a 6 string fretless I built a long long time ago, was thinking about putting half rounds on it, but I might go flat now
 2. Sounds like you're getting the tone you want out of it dude. Very nice
 3.
but you could replace a standard nut 16 times over with the price of it! Sorry. I think it's a great idea, but not worth £80.
Fair point dude
 4.
You take a spare 6-string fretless neck to gigs? Is it for battering off the hordes of unruly ladies who want a piece of bass-player action?
I wish dude, however I'm sure the fiancé is more than capable of battering them on my behalf, what with her jiu-jitsu and all... The fretless neck is a wee sneak peek for a thread to come soon Eude
 5. http://www.rondomusic.com/ursa2mn63ts.html Got to hand it to those guys at Rondo, they really seem to be able to tune into what people want! Shame they do short production runs, as they did a cool 30" scale 6 string bass a while back which I missed out on Now if they did a 30" 6 string Jazz, Jaguar or maybe even a Precision, that would rock! Shame about the ugly head stocks they had to change to after pressure from "Uncle Fender" though... Cheers, Eude
 6. Just so you know, the Promethean killed last night! Easily overpowered a 4 piece drum kit, and 2 vocals and acoustic guitar going through a PA. This will handle pub gigs no bother at all. The thing has a hell of a lot of bass extension for a crazy small box too, not quite as much as the Aguilar GS112, but a similarly surprising effect! Eude
 7. Well if someone had told me that I could feasibly go to a gig carrying only this >> I would've told them their brain was in wrong. First proper practice with my little Promethean tonight and it was amazing! It easily overpowered a 4 piece drum kit and a PA with two vocals and an acoustic guitar going through it. It's no metal set up, but I now know this little amp will be more than enough for any acoustic'y pub gigs. I've got a festival gig in the 11th in one of the Spiegeltents, which will be acoustic and electric, so I'm going to use the Promethean to feed the PA and as a stage monitor. More to come... I'm one happy Eude though! Eude
 8. Excellent dude Glad it's all working out so far. I don't think you'll be disappointed with the little fella. I've got a rehearsal with my "jaunty dad rock" band tonight, acoustic guitar and 2 vocals all through the PA with full drum kit throw in. Not a full on "war volume" test, but will give a good idea of "pub gig" use, plus it'll be nice to get it past annoying the neighbours volume levels! Got a smallish festival gig on the 11th of August too, I intend to use my little Promethean as my stage monitor and DI out to the desk for front of house stuff. Eude
 9.
Nup, still lost. You can file a nut appropriately to get different height?
That you can, but you can't "un-file" a nut. The Just-a-nut means you can lower and raise the night to your hearts content without ever having to replace it... Eude
 10.
ha ha I've just plugged my iPod into it to check it fires up OK. It gets loud VERY quickly, as my colleagues across the office will tell you. As they wipe their coffee up.
Good man
 11. Awesome dude! I'm sure you won't be disappointed. It's a cracking wee amp, and I've already received several complaints from neighbours due to the excess bass extension, something I rarely achieved with my previous LM and Aguilar 1X12 setup... It is a very solid piece of kit isn't it, I was very surprised, I think it's even better built than the MarkBass stuff which IMO was a jump up from Trace Elliot. Enjoy Eude
 12.
I've tried the Promethean and by all your comments, it's seem the way to go or the shuttle (but I know less about this one)... The orange is tubey, the MB LM is warm so the next step would be more towards the HI-FI... The Ibanez is more Hi-Fi. the mark tube sounds like bad mix of MB trying to sound like an orange... ;-( It's a shame SWR, EDEN or EBS don't do a micro amp.. I think that would open up the other end of the amp spectrum. I've played the Redhead combo and it's great.. a mirco redhead would be awesome
I've gone from a LM to a Promethean and I'm very happy, it's familiar yet different, sounds similar to the LM to my ear, bit more organic than the Shuttles, probably a nice halfway between the Shuttles and the LM. The build quality is awesome too, dare I say it, better than the MarkBass kit... Cheers, Eude
 13.
It looks fab.. mine will be here tomorrow or Tuesday, I hope. I'm not holding out much hope that it'll handle a full rehearsal. If it does, it'll be a bonus!
Nice one dude You might be surprised, unless you're in a metal band... Eude
 14. Another wee update with a another pic. It's actually been sunny here... Eude
 15. Small update, still no proper band practice, but I definitely have one on Wednesday. Here's a pic of my setup to keep you going Eude
 16. That IS a massive pickup! Looking brilliant mate Eude
 17. Wow, what a gorgeous bass?! Love the gold on black with the maple board. Top shelf stuff! Eude
 18. No that IS a peach! Congrats mate. Eude
 19.
Me too... kind of... but I barely look down as it is, so I thought, "Why bother interrupting the board with lines I don't need?" Besides which, I'm not mad enough to eschew side dots. Yet.
Ha ha! Yeah, the side dots are more than necessary... I used to play an unlined fretless 6er an age ago, and I got on OK, but had no other basses at the time so I just had to. I guess I could get back in that mode, but I'd need a lot of practice! I am intending to get a fretless bass next though, so I might man up and do it properly Eude
 20. Lovely bit of Ebony there mate! Unlined fretless terrifies me though... Eude
 21.
Hey Eude, yeah it's the classic Series 2 shape - the same as my EMG loaded Walnut/cooked maple one. I wanted them mechanically as similar as possible for the obvious reasons.... although i have to say I think it's got a slightly 'slimmer' carve to both the neck and body. Should be a joy to play, and I'm hoping massive pickup = massive tone I do love the Uberhorn shape though and if I'd got the dough i'd have the Blackwood fretless off him to complete my collection! P
That Uberhorn fretless is a peach! Good choice on the shape, probably best keep thing familiar I reckon. Sounds like it'll be a lovely bass though mate, congrats for when it arrives Eude
 22.
Well, I've refrained from posting a thread here until now because I knew that watching the thread would drive me nuts and cause uncontrollable bouts of GAS (which happened anyway to be fair and resulted in me buying the green jazz on Jon's stock page), but now that I'm about to get my sticky, and some would say talentless, mits on my new 'un, I thought I'd share. Bassic (sorry!) spec is: Shuker Bolt-on Custom 5 String 34" scale, 24 fret 5pc Maple, Flame maple, Wenge neck with carbon fibre, two way truss, modern C profile Ziricote fretboard Ultalite or Resolite tuners White Ash body Flamed, spalted maple drop top High gloss finish Delano Hybrid+J pickups Shuker Mk3 3band EQ Individual bridges Black hardware I'm pencilled in to pick it up a week on Friday, after a typical wait, but I knew it would take time. I did see it part complete when I picked the green jazz up and it's gonna be a smasher! I've resisted asking Jon for pics (until last might) for the same reason as above. The main feature really is the hybrid pickup which I thought long and hard about ordering, but Jon and a couple of other BC'ers persuaded me. Had a mail from Jon last night and he commented that the bass looked really smart cos "it's a massive pickup". Hope I can live up to it... Pics will be posted as soon as I've put it down long enough to photograph it. P
Very nice mate, have you gone for the tried and tested classic Shuker shape, or have you gone for a new funky Horn or Uberhorn?... Eude
 23.
Nice one - you've made it to the front page of Jon's website! Looks stunning! I take it your fingers are bleeding by now... P
Beat me too it mate, just came here to share the same news
 24.
Just thought, Ibanez Promethean?
Yup, it's tiny, smaller than the LittleMarks, and very very well built. 500W at 4 Ohms. Eude
 25.
OK, dullest post ever right here... Again, had a little time to myself at home this morning, so I got the scales out. Yep, I know how to live. So, if anyone's interested, here are the weights: ACG Skelf: 9lb 1oz (4.11 kg) StingRay 5: 9lb 13oz (4.45 kg) OLP 5: 9lb 11oz (4.40 kg) MM SUB: 9lb 13oz (4.45 kg) Hondo: 9lb 4oz (4.19 kg) I knew the Skelf felt lighter, but I'd thought it could be an illusion due to how it balances. Nope. It's lighter than all the others. Splendid. And soundclips... one day, one day. They will happen, once my shoulder gets better and I can play properly again.
Wow, I seriously thought your Skelf was lighter than that, my guess would've been nearer 8 lbs dead! That means that my own basses are probably a good 1 or 2 lbs heavier than I thought then. Must find some proper scales, and probably learn some too Hope the shoulder heals up soon mate. Eude
