1. I played through one at a gig last year and I was pleasantly surprised. It was plenty loud and seemed to have a pretty decent breadth of tone, it was pretty big and heavy though. I would never pay the full list price for it but at that amount it's a bit of a bargain, I imagine rehearsal rooms across the country might jump on them! Cheers, Eude
2. Thought there was going to be a picture based update... Eude
3. Nice one dude! You kept that quiet, I bet it'll be a peach of a neck. Looking forward to seeing the pics... Eude
4. Holy Crap Peter! That bass is gorgeous! I got a squint at it last time I visited Alan as it was hanging on the wall, it looked good enough then but bloomin' 'ell that is so gorgeous now it's done! Congratulations mate, Eude
5.
I think Jon is making some really special basses right now.
He certainly is, my new Stealth/Pub Jazz Bass is the bomb! Spent all last night trying to do my best Jaco Pastorius impression, first time I've ever had a bass that could get so close to the trademark tone. Cheers, Eude
6.
Lovely lovely lovely! Any pics of the rear (mmmm....) and the neck? Surprised and interested about the shorter scale and low B, I thought you'd have to go the other way with a low B and get a longer (35"?) scale to suit the tension/tone better?
Hey Al, I've got a six string Shuker Bolt-on Single-cut with a 33" scale and a cracking low B too. Mike's right, there's a bit of magic that certain luthiers can instil in their instruments to make them work. Fodera do a roaring trade in 33" basses with low Bs, CB Basses have even done a couple of 32" 6 strings with low Bs which worked great too so I'm told. Here's a wee clip of me playing my Shuker, where I use the low B string towards the end, apologies for the sloppy playing >> http://www.shukerguitars.co.uk/03SlapandFingerFunk.mp3 I've been using my bass live and for recording exclusively and the low B out performs every 6er I've owned and most of the ones I've had a go of too, bar a loverly 33" Fodera I tried in Boston a few years back, which is what finally convinced me go for the 33" for my custom bass having struggled with regular and larger scale basses all my life. I really don't think I'd ever go back to a 34" now. Cheers, Eude
7. Awesome news dude! Can't wait to see the finished article, you lucky beggar... Cheers, Eude
8.
sounded pretty good to my ears, but yeah you do look a little rough
Cheeky Bugger! Notice in the first clip I keep touching my nose? That was to try and stop it running all over my lovely new bass. Note to self - blow nose before going on stage! Any sign of your bass yet mate? Eude
9. Since getting my Shuker J Bass, I'm getting the horn for all things Jazz Bass and the Sadowsky basses are certainly the daddy where Jazz Basses are concerned. I'm not sure that subscribing to this topic is a particularly good idea... Nice basses guys! Eude
10. Well our lead singer found some clips from the Pub Bass's first outing. Somebody in the audience was obviously filming and saw fit to put them on Youtube, we're all pretty flattered, so I thought I'd share the tracks. Last Leaf Hanging >> http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=21-CqjHr7-A Nothings Too Much >> http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=BM23ZK_z8-k Apologies for my sloppy playing, it was the day after my 30th birthday, I'd barely slept, was beginning to develop the man flu and was getting to grips with a new bass with only 4 strings I think I got away with it, but only just... The first clip instils just how much I need a decent Fuzz pedal, I should never have sold my Big Muff! The gig was also filmed professionally and the audio ripped straight from the desk, so there might be some better footage to post soon. Cheers, Eude
11.
There must be some news by now...?
I should think so... Don't leave us in suspense dood Eude
12. Cheers guys! I'm right chuffed with it. No black frets I'm afraid, but I just might put on some of those black DR strings though Eude
13. Yup, a cracking looking pair there dude! Might have to take some photos of my Shuker siblings together too. Congrats once again mate! Eude
14. That's gorgeous Mike! Certainly worth the wait I'd imagine. How you getting on with the 33" scale? How's it tuned? I'm still loving it. Cheers, Eude
15.
Looks great buddy! Classy and functional, seems to be how you intended! 'Grats! Oh, mine's finished too, check the build thread and bass porn if you fancy!
Going there now! Eude
16. Cheers guys, I am very very happy with the bass! Had it's first gig on Sunday night and it really performed well, although I made a few mistakes having played 6 strings exclusively for the last two years... There might be some video footage kicking around as it was filmed, but that'll have to be screened first. I'll certainly have some photos of it in action soon though. Sorry Bass_Ferret, she's staying put. The next one will be a bit more like a table top though... Cheers, Eude
17. Hey guys, I've spent a wee while playing the bass now and I'm over the moon! Here's a few bad photos, I'll hopefully get some pics of it in use from our gig on Sunday night... Like I mentioned before, it's incredibly small lightweight, but I 'spose I am used to playing a 6 string single cut. The body feels great on and the neck is really fast and easy to get around. Yet again Jon has nailed the sounds I asked for in this bass. Lots of low mid grunt and growl as usual, but with a bit more of a classic dark warm sound to it. It can do the classic 60's scooped Jazz Bass sound and it also manages to do a pretty decent Precision Bass impression with the front pickup soloed. It will never be as versatile as my Single Cut, but that was never part of the plan anyway, it does exactly what it says on the tin, so I'm pretty darned chuffed. Bear in mind, all I've managed to play the bass through so far is my little sis's Peavey 8" Bass Combo, so when I get this thing through my Aguilar cab and eventually a P.A. its going to be scary! Only one con, I'd originally spec'd a Brass Nut, and it arrived with a plastic one, not sure this was due to a Jon's choice because he thougt it'd be better for the desired sounds, or maybe it was a wee mistake thanks to me rushing Jon to get it out the door, that said though, I am very happy with the sound, so although I know it'd be very easy to ammend, I reckon I'll leave it for now. More soon... Hope everyone is having a good Christmas! Eude
18. Yay! I got the bass! It got delivered yesterday to my parents, and it took until now before I could get to it. It's so sexy, lightweight and plays like a dream. Have yet to plug it in though, as everyone is in bed, but I'll get that donr tomorrow. Some pics and a proper review soon! Cheers, Eude
19.
Try the Lo rider nickel, they're a bit stiffer than the sunbeams, they have a hexagonal core instead of a round core. You may have to order them, I got mine from Mark at Bassdirect.
Thanks mate, I'll give them a go. Cheers, Eude
20.
I'd love to see a mini vertically stacked 2x12 Vintage when the Eminence 3012s are released...
Me too! However, a 4 ohm 12" with a mid range speaker would probably be perfect, with a vintage grill cloth or course Eude
21.
Sorry, I ended up using them myself.
No bother mate. How do you rate them? I'm currently using some DR Steel Low Riders, but I'm definitely more of a Nickel guy, I love Sun Beams, although they're maybe a little too soft on a 33" scale, and I've used some SIT ones which where pretty good and a lot cheaper, but I'm really interested in the Fodera strings, a lot of folks seem to like them. Cheers, Eude

23.
No I didn't mate, sorry. I only had 45mins there and couldn't really hang around.
No bother mate, just thought I'd ask. I asked Jon for a finished photo, but it's getting delivered tomorrow morning, so no point bothering now. Back on topic, your headless bass is making me GAS so damned hard for a headless 6er of my own, I think I might have to stop checking this thread till I can afford a deposit!... Cheers, Eude
24. Right, just like Bassmonster's the bass is being picked up today and delivered tomorrow morning. Unfortunately, I have to have it delivered to my parents' house so I won't get my mitts on it till Wednesday night, still at least it'll be before Christmas! Nearly there... Eude
25. Don't suppose you clocked an all black Jazz Bass while you where there did you?... Cheers, Eude
