1.
Well, as ive asked for, could you be helpful in high lighting how my opinion is wrong on a legal basis. Do you kmow how this has been tested? If you know about the legality of this scenario then please share.
I think the term Caveat Emptor would be apt. (and it seems way more legal when we use latin doesn't it?)
 2.
Ha!!! Was I really that transparent!
do you think we need a vintage Yamaha thread in the bass porn section?
 3. this post made me smile
 4. It's lovely - if they used the same serial numbers as the BB basses it's not that far along the production line from my 1977 BB1200 - you've got one of those too haven't you?
 5. That is a lot of glass bottles there!
 6. sound clips too if you have them! L
 7.
Good lord, want!!! 😔
how many of us do if we had the $? Anyway bump for the op
 8.
Really wide neck, string spacing was all wrong and fretwork not the best. I discovered that Lace use the exact same neck on their 4 and 5 string basses ( mine was a 4).Fantastic
seems to be common thread... yeah lace pickups are probably nice... just they stuck them in some helix bass i couldnt wait to get rid off...
 9. hello on this side too!
 10.
A couple of years back I got a Lace Helix bass at the right price with these pickups on board. A very good sounding bass indeed but it had a neck like the flute of a donkey so it had to go. I was rather taken by the sound, so I purchased 2 alumitone pickups for my '62 RI jazz bass directly from lace as drop in replacements. However the routing for the pickups was too shallow to take the pickups as they were slightly deeper than the standard jazz pickups. i was not prepared to adjust the routing to accommodate the pickups. I then got back to lace and after some protracted discussion, I got a refund.
good shout to check the depth! how would you describe the sound?(based on the Helix obviously)
 11. Lace alumitone pickups ... look intreaging. Anyone on here got any or a bass with them in? How do you find them ? Looking for some new pickups for my main bass and loojing at options. Its a warwick ss1 with acg preamp
 12.
I've heard complaints about the JV p'ups before but the stock p'ups on my JV '57 are monsterous. Vintage tone but with a hint of grit. Loads of output and even tone across the strings. They are the raised 'A' pickups. No signs of any mods so I'm assuming they are as standard.
i had a jv with a duncan spb1 it was awesome - i then tracked down an original raised A pickup... monsterous but so so vintage - it sounded like an old p bass should... however the more modern duncans fitted better in modern music i was playing
 13. though if carlisle there is hope. Hopefully we never see it online again apart from in someones gig photos. I does look nice doesn't it?
 14.
It was someone called Roy and bass is now apparently sold (not to me)
Theres a fat idiot who I think is called Roy, lives in Livingston who buys stuff up on gumtree and then flogs it for profit the next week... watch ebay...
 15. what year JV? export domestic? Fender/squier series logo or Squier logo? Also try raising the pup to change the tone Unless it's a very early one, switch the pickup and just play the thing. Keep the old pup though.
 16. didn't someone one here have a mini Matamp amp for practice?
 17. Looks great! It replacing a big rig or have you gone from a mesa wakabout to that?
 18. I bought one of the Retrovibe bridges for a bitsa. Screws made of cheese. I would pay more for screws not made of cheese. This goes for all basses.
 19.
Same is true for many of the luxury cars...BMW 6/7 series go for less than high specced 3 series after a few years....
is that true? I might check out if it is. And is that like for like secondhand from private owners? Somewhat relevant to this thread I do know that the more add ons and factory customisations you do to a new car (think Fiat 500 or equivalent) the lower the value will be when you come to sell it. Go for bog standard and dealers know they can buy and turn it over. Learnt that this week
I hadn't looked at ACG, so googled them, and sadly it confirmed my worst fears about custom basses : I couldn't find a design I liked at all, and they look like the kind of things I've only ever seen being wielded by jazzers and slap addicts, and usually with more strings than I like. No problem with that, and its all about beauty being in the eye of the beholder - but - the issue with holding value, is that they are by definition, one person's 'ideal', and as a consequence of human nature, and no two of us liking exactly the same things, they will only ever ''fit' the commissioning player (hopefully). It's rather like 'custom cars', (which appear to be a passe thing now) : one man's orgasmic dream ride - Ford Escort MkII with a V8, and 'Dirty Harry' airbrushed custom paint, is somebody else's Chavvy pile of cack. The fact that so many 'custom' basses come up for sale must surely bring into question the validity of the thought process of ordering one - if so many people buy one, and then sell it, surely (barring financially necessary clear outs) that's because it didn't live up to the dream? The problem is of course, unlike going to a retailer and trying a number of P basses (for example) until you find 'the one', you get what you are given when the Luthier's work is done. There's also the image issue : if you are auditioning for a new band and you pull out a 'coffee table' 6 string, its likely to scare the natives - people like what they know, and you'll go a long way to find anyone more conservative than guitar players.
The Greek has an ACG that I almost bought twice, and still kinda want. But it's a single cut and that made me hesitate... and the Greek got it! It's about the only ACG I've been interested in. Mind you I did get a quote from ACG and a couple of other UK based Luthiers a year or so ago for a more workman like, simple plain bass- not much of the fancy stuff. Prices were less than a new USA fender- and it looked a great deal. I think the problem is that lots of people write down what they want... and then get tempted by wood porn.
 20. Furniture in your house maybe... but in a office or workplace a high quality reliable and tested mass produced option might be better. also if you look at the secondhand prices of custom built furnature i think its more to do with the nature of custom made items...
 21.
Just played this Bass again ,It truly is a great instrument.at a great price,This would cost you 2 grand with import duties, trying is believing ,,
i believe - how does it compare to our old no42?
 22.
Oh good lord...
how long between seeing this and checking your bank account?
 23.
Anyone out there put an East preamp in a thumb bass?
I have a UNI-PRE and was considering swapping the out MEC. I was hoping for some advice on the results, pointers and any gotchas before commencing the operation.
