That’s a Sadowsky preamp - and the blend is backwards - that’s how Sadowsky does it... idea is that it acts as a mid control (ie you turn it up)

Was just looking at this lovely bass in the For sale section which as well as costing a bit more to bring to the U.K. will also need CITES papers fog the Brazilian rosewood in the fretboard oh joy

I don’t know why this would be difficult- you will have to give them a declaration of what they are shipping for you And value, they will then pay any Fees at the customs border and then charge you them before they release the goods to you. possibly the best value for money is french or German Lessons and doing your shopping there!

I've had a fretless a few times. I end up sounding just like I do on a fretted but sometimes slightly out of tune, and with more slides. Probably tells you more about my playing than fretless though.

Maple fretboard is going to be harder to do as you will need to relaquer it.

HXstomp - feed in two signals and process them separately and mix to mono.... (or send two signals too the PA) Did he play a bass you had defretted?

this topic has been done at least once I think... you fit the bits on a bass to get the result you want. I personally think that the BBOT is a big part of the precision sound. Others would disagree.

sorry I had just seen the guardian article and was looking around to see if there was a discussion about it anywhere... my rough estimate reading the article - fully expecting this to be wrong but someone correcting me will be useful for everyone... - buying a bass from Thomann will go up by the price of duty (3.7%?) And the postal companies handling fee. Thomann will sell VAT free and then UK VAT gets levied so that part shouldn’t change. - say I wanted to buy a bass secondhand, off here or Bassics of wherever - that’s not (price of bass plus postage) + 3.7% duty +20% VAT +handling fee So a £1000 bass that cost £100 for postage from the EU and insurance will change from costing me £1100 this year to costing £1369 plus handling charge next year?

Man, every so often a google search takes me there - it’s like a religious cult - like a load of people have read their Ernie Ball corporate literature and tattooed it into their soul.
