1. I have done in the past, and love the sound in certain applications - kitchen roll or mousemat foam for me. The thing is that I seldom want muted tones for the entire set, so now just palm mute when necessary.
2. I play reggae through the Super Twin; have NO worries about bottom end clarity. That cab will go as deep as you need and then some, and remain crystal clear (as long as you have a good amp too)
3. Bump for a great little combo at a superb price. Phil is a top chap too. Basically you can't go wrong when buying this.
4. This is all very useful, as I'm going to be selling a bass for the first time ever (!?) soon, so want the ad to be as informative as possible. I have no idea re. tuner ratios though!
5.
Some discussion already here, but not yet in the shops afaik.
You can get into trouble for linking to AssChat you know ;-)
6. I've just sold a power amp to Kev. I've met him several times before, so knew that the deal would go swimmingly, and I was right! Lovely chap, I'd happily deal with him again
7.
I might have to try and come along and bring my 4 string and my 5 when I get it if I could get a lift from Nottingham
I should have room, although as co-organiser I'll be going earlier to set up and staying later to tidy up. If you can get to Bulwell, then the offer is there, just send a PM
8. Playing tomorrow night at JT Soar. Lots of punk and ska and us. Pay what you like, BYOB proceeds to charity.
9. Another great deal with Grahame, this time I bought his Crest power amp. There was an issue which was neither party's fault, but it was dealt with quickly, smoothly and with integrity. I'd happily deal with him again
10. Sold now cheers for the enquiries
11. Brilliant band. I used to be in a jazz/funk band up York way and we did a lot of stuff in Leeds, so played with them once or twice, and saw them many times there, and once at The Jazz Cafe. Always a really enjoyable gig
12. Doesn't the Genz have a HPF built in (defeatable by the deep switch)? I remember our Shep once trying a Microthumpinator with a Streamliner and there being no difference, only to do some research and discover that the Streamliner and Shuttle heads already have one built in! I can't remember the cutoff frequency, but I think it was higher on the .0 series, then lowered to something like 30Hz for the .2 series.
13. Yes, you're on the right track - get LONG rawl plugs and matching screws, and as long as you are well into the brick, no batons are necessary.
14. I loved the looper last time! Looking forward to it :-)
15. Bump for a great quality power amp, which can be plug n play for transparent loveliness, or you can get technical and programme any EQ your heart desires. Courier is £7
16. I've tried quite a few amps recently, and of the lightweight ones, there were two that I really liked - it was only later on that I discovered that they were actually class a/b, while the rest were class D. Last night I brought my big iron power amp instead of the class a/b, and the difference was unmistakable; it just has so much authority to the tone.
17.
Where are the links? I can't see any
Am I the only one who can't find the links?? I've tried on iPhone and iPad :-(
18.
To say it like Homer...
How rude! Anyway, looking forward to hearing the comparison.
19. Where are the links? I can't see any
20. Willy Strong Punch
21. The majority of my practice is unplugged. It's easily loud enough to hear on my own and just about loud enough over quiet music. My bass has a chambered body, so suspect that helps with resonance/volume(?)
22. I've just gone back to heavy too. It's the gravitational pull of that massive transformer
23.
A picture paints a thousand words .... The bass with this monstrosity is on sale for a mere £700 on the bay. I think there's going to be a bidding war.
What's with the jigsaw :-D
