1. TBH I kind of respect someone who is willing to speak out rather than grumble in private - makes showbiz a bit more interesting anyway :-D He obviously feels passionately about it, but I disagree hugely. I see Beck as a visionary, an artist with enourmous creativity. Yes Beyoncé is talented, but I don't see a smidgen of Beck's originality in her.
2. I've bought from Javier before and it all went perfectly. Good luck with the sale - great looking bass :-)
3. Looks fantastic, and I'll bet it sounds it too
4. Sounds spot on :-)
5.
WTF is toppy.?
His top is unbuttoned :-D Lots of top end zing The way he unbuttons the shirt on camera suggested to me that it was very tongue in cheek, a homage to the Kool and the Gang/Ladies' Night style funk that the song so heavily borrows from.
6. About a year ago, I went through an amp-buying phase, and at one time had five heads to compare! The HD350 and the Shuttle 9.2 were very similar to each other in that they are both very clean, flexible and high quality. Personally, I found the Shuttle to be a bit more intuitive in that you could predict what each turn of the knob will do, so it's easy to quickly dial In a tone. The HD350 took a bit more fiddling to get where I wanted, but I suppose it wouldn't take long to get familiar with its workings with some effort. In terms of tone, like I said, very similar. With either amp you can get virtually any clean tone you'll ever need. If I had to choose, I'd probably go for the HD350 for that extra solidity in the low end. Volume? I found the 9.2 to be louder than I'd ever need. and the HD350 to be just loud enough. Another handy bonus for the HD350 is the Notch control, good for eliminating boom in a room if that's ever an issue. If I had to choose, is go for the HD350 again, but there's not much in it
7. To me, the Meters are the ultimate funk band - just sublime. The album that that track opens, Rejeuvination, is excellent. Here's one from the following album, Fire on the Bayou - brilliant laid back funk, and introducing a bit of synth: http://youtu.be/A8R1Wyow15w
8.
Quite right too
Fair enough. I'd be embarrassed to be seen with a Corvette in public too ;-)
9. Haha, the bass player looks quite embarrassed

11.
A great hotel if you want to treat yourselves whilst in Brighton: http://www.hotelpelirocco.co.uk
I've stayed there - brilliant!
12.
BUT it got through to me how much of the vibration travels UP the neck and how much the headstock vibrates.
Yup, I used to practice by touching the headstock (or body) on a chest of drawers, and the vibrations were enough to amplify to audible practice level. Vibrations aplenty.
13.
<3
Is that a fart?
14. The coolest bass shape bar none!
15. It is a bit toppy, but that works well when paired with that sampled/vocal bassline. Great player, and looks cool doing it. He gets the official RR thumbs up
16.
Markbass Compressore You want levelling rather than pumping, it should be possible to achieve that with the MB no problem Remember slow the release more than normal, lowish ratio, attack around 30ms, threshold to suit <Note to self, stay the f*** out of compressor threads!>
Nonsense. The Compressore doesn't do any of those things. Don't you know who I am ;-)
17. I've seen items given a mirror finish by being painted with reflective palladium, maybe that's it.
18.
yes me too, didnt know about the bass bash, although I've been to some past ones. Any idea when or where?
Here you go http://basschat.co.uk/topic/253823-midlands-bass-bash-2/
19. A pro would tell you that there is a big difference between piles and bumcrumbs
20. Thanks folks. He has just called me in a happier mood - he decided to try a fix from a link that I sent him, and it seems to have alleviated the problem a lot. He simply loosened then retightened the neck bolts (shouldn't they be called neck screws??) and a lot of sustain has come back to that area, to the extent that he's happy enough to not buy a Fatfinger or change the strings.
21. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/254295-bit-of-advice-with-a-missing-courier-package-please/page__pid__2675048#entry2675048 Wasn't this one, was it? Only a few days ago
22. I'm really disappointed to see this happen Sean, not only because you have been badly let down with this build, but that such a formerly esteemed member has let so many people down in a way that seems so out of character. I know that you had an especially good relationship with him, and that must be all the more painful. Hope the bass is ok and ends up a beauty.
23. Fair enough. I've never bought a new bass before, but I'd be gutted if I was stuck with one with a dead spot. What about Consumer Contracts Regs? Edit: just googled it, seems that it's too late for that
24. About once a year for me. I do it because I think it's about that time. The deterioration in sustain/timbre is a very gradual thing, so it's only when I change them do I really appreciate the difference.
