When you say that the K Pad is an effects unit with an input, could it be used just like a bass guitar effects pedal to play synthy sounding basslines?

I'd be interested in one that you could run a bass through. Anyone got a link? What's the tracking like?

you don't have to join an established band if you feel that's too much of a leap - advertise for a starter band and see where it goes - once you find people you get on with,I guarantee it will reignite your passion for playing. Do it. Do it.

It was a relief to click on the link and not find lots of fretless mwah mwah melodic soloing. This is my kind of fretless - rhythmic and funky. There is an important lack of sustain with this type of playing that a fretless board adds to nicely. Thanks for the link.
