1. Pretty much any amp without a valve power section will be OK without a load. There are few SS amps with an output transformer (eg Warwick Jonas Helborg) which would need a load too.
2.
Congrats Roland! I was looking at test driving a Glock Blue Sky recently. Sadly it has now been sold
Looks like it's back on the market
3.
So, er... does it sound any good?
Yes! Low volume testing so far, but it has that gorgeous Glockenklang clean tone. The drive is really good too. My last Glock head had drive when you pushed the gain, and I'd describe the sound ad more synthetic than valve, but still nice in the right context. This is a bit like having a built in VT Bass. The true test of a class D amp IMO is holding the notes at volume. I'll wait till a practice and a gig before reporting back on that
4. A more legible picture of the layout and details [Img]http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg580/christopher_brown14/rackbags/10624607_zpsdi5qsfs3.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> 1000W @ 4 ohms, 500 watts @ 8 ohms or max. 900W @ 2.7 ohms, 600W @ 4 ohms, 300W @ 8 ohms (amplifier internally switchable between minimal impedance 4 or 2.7 ohms), drive / voice section (drive switchable via footswitch), the drive knob is for sounds of slightly distorted to tube-like overdrive, the voice control (which can added to drive) offers additional timbre 5-band EQ with 2 switchable frequencies for low mid, mid and high mid controls, input A & B, FX loop, balanced DI out, weight: 5kg
5.
Needs more knobs
Yeah, it's pretty knobby. My last setup had three knobs (effectively tone, gain and volume) and one reason for the change is the need for more onstage mid control - this goes to the other extreme. There are several like MP3/FX level/gain which I'll probably never touch.
6.
Congrats Roland! I was looking at test driving a Glock Blue Sky recently. Sadly it has now been sold so will be interested to see how you get on with this one.
I was looking at the Blue Soul for sale here, then the 'next one up' the Blue Sky, then saw this. In a few classic 'blokenomics' moves I justified it to myself and pushed the button 😀 Will give a review when I've had a few plays under a few conditions
7.
Many of the first things I learned about women were from Beatle lyrics.
Blue: "Why don't we do it in the road?" <SLAP>
8.
I use a Gig Skinz bag (think it is large or medium...can't remember). Sometimes they come up on ebay for half the retail price and brand new.
Difficult to find even new now
9. I've been looking for a similar type case for a small amp. I ended up going for a Mackie mixer bag, which looks pretty well padded and handy. https://www.bax-shop.co.uk/pa-mixer-bag/mackie-profx-12-protective-transport-bag?gclid=Cj0KEQiAuqC2BRDVxMSnpa-mhZoBEiQAFta8wSRt59J5CUZ7fY6B29zLq73Xo6ca7qhwWcXEAX_w6qsaAkYy8P8HAQ I'll let you know the build quality when it arrives
10.
490,000 BCers eh? Sorry for the grump, Roland. However, your eagerness to inform everyone about your new purchase struck me as vacuous because it lacked any real information.
No worries, I'm a pretty vacuous dude
11.
@ stevie, don't go pi$$ing on Roland's chips! I'd be chuffed if I'd just bought a new high-end piece of kit, so I've subscribed to this thread. @ Roland - what about that valve head with the rocket on the front - don't tell me that's gone!
Thanks! I still have it although at 100w it's not quite clean enough at volume for my current project. It made a nasty noise last time I plugged it in, so may need new valves. It will definitely be brought out again in the future for the right project.
12. Just sharing my NAD really excitement really. I think this may be of interest to some, in fact it may even be the first one in the UK. Like I said, I'll add thoughts after a good test. Sorry it was so disappointing to you.
13. Although my previous pre/power amp setup sounded perfect, I decided I needed something with a bit more onstage mid control, and something with a bit of drive for some upcoming dep gigs/future projects/expanding band repertoire. I've had a Glockenklang amp before and it was the nicest tone of any integrated amp I've experienced, and the build quality is fantastic. So, I sold my amps and bought Glockenklang's newest head the 1000w Blue Rock. It's class D, but not as we know it. It's relatively big and heavy for a class D, and does not use the ubiquitous B&O ICE power module. Also, this has a whole separate drive section! Glockenklang have a rep for being ultra clean, so this feature is quite a departure. I'm yet to even plug it in! Thoughts to follow next week for those who are interested Edit: review now up - see post #50 [Img]http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg580/christopher_brown14/rackbags/20160219_223702_zpsi2jkbvxh.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> [Img]http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg580/christopher_brown14/rackbags/20160219_223627_zpsxpfouwff.jpg " class="ipsImage" />
14. Jokers... Don't mention it Wiggy
15. Guy is now the lucky owner of the pinnacle of solid state amplification! Great transaction with fast payment and good communication. Highly recommended 👍

17. How can they make the preamp look so boutique, but the integrated amp so cheap? Obviously stand-alone is easier to tart up than rack mount, but still...
18. In the UK? Jon Shuker Maruszczyk will be cheaper though
19.
What does the R string sound like?
If you play a B E A R open chord you get an amazing growl
20. I tried it on my fretless board but kept getting this buzz...
21. My tea tastes better when my kettle lead is kept straight
22. I think dispersion improves the narrower the speaker array so both vertically would be good
23. Try not to take the lack of responses as a criticism of the music. Compared to the rest of the busy forum, getting someone to actually listen to your tunes is tough! You may see eg "300 views" of your thread, but I'll guarantee of those 300, 200 will move on without listening (can't be bothered/don't have time), 95 will listen for a few seconds and move on (not their cup of tea) and 5 will listen to most/all of it. You got great feedback from 1, 2 thought 'my band's better than that' and the last three quite liked it but didn't leave feedback for whatever reason. Many of us are really proud of a recording and a lot of work has gone into it, then put it on BC and you get tumbleweed! Don't assume people don't like it, just that they are lazy arses Well done for having the nerve to put it up! As a classic example, I listened to the Run DMC one on my phone (no bass audible) while unpacking the dishwasher. It sounded fun, if a bit rushed and lacking some funk of the original (notably drumming and vocal phrasing), but overall pretty good. Much better than my first band! Then I stopped listening as I had to go to work. Such is the hectic life we lead today. Don't be disheartened
24.
What sound wise is the difference between the series? I used to use a 1x15 combo, no idea what series - but the 7 band EQ at church - and admittedly I didn't spend long fiddling but it was a very 80's sound with my active pupped Warwick. Now I'm thinking it wasn't the greatest cab ever but I'm intreaged to try trace stuff again (that twin valve combo for sale looks awesome) Sound wise what would I be expecting from the different series?
I definitely wouldn't say that the Twin Valve is representative of the signiature TE sound - it's less scooped and more, well, valvey
