I love their strings, and I recently sent them an enquiry about getting more gauges in the stainless steel ones. They said that they're not sure when they will be as they're still quite new, but I was pleased that they got back to me quickly and sent me a detailed and appreciative email.

The only basses I've ever played that sounded better than my Peaveys were a limited edition Ibanez Musician Bass, and a Rickenbacker 4003. The Ibanez had a stupidly long neck and weighed a ton, and the Ric, being a Ric, was really uncomfortable to play despite having the best neck and fretwork I've ever seen.

I've used an Ampeg 8x10, and while they're not very loud compared to modern, smaller, ported cabs... they sound fantastic! Much tighter and controlled low end too. Although with my front ported 4x10 I just turn down the lows on my head to get a more focused sound. It works out great, and I get more headroom as well!

You're probably right I use three different tunings in my cover band, and I chose to put the baton in Eb so that I was only using it on two songs. I'm a bit fussy about low action so it was a bit of a copout

All of my Peavey basses cost between £50 and £339 and I've never played anything else that felt better!

Sounds like a wicked idea! Though on the pickup front I'd recommend a Quarter Pounder P pickup, and a Hot Stack Jazz pickup at the bridge. Nice and hot, and still hum cancelling!

Genuinely pleased with how this is going, it looks like the Relay is only just getting started in its quest for awesomeness

If all the pedals on my board were to break apart from one, I'd want that one to be the Zoom B3. I use the tuner on it all the time, and all the other effects that I use seperate ones for like compression, sansamp, drive, I can get very decent versions of with it.

Last time I checked, you could get singles from stringbusters.. Only the nickel ones though!

Another vote for Elixir steels here. They sound like any other great bright roundwound stainless steels, but they keep their sound for months and months and months... You don't have to care for them as much either, I don't even wipe mine down with a cloth and it's had no negative effect on the sound after 6 months!

[/quote] You actually don't lose that much, going from 500w @ 4 ohms to 300w @ 8 ohms. I think it's only like 2-3dB. I bought a Markbass 4x10 with plans to get a second at a later date, and I've never needed to go beyond half way on the volume on any gig. I don't use super hot output basses either!

Yeah, they've been building all the Darkglass pedals since production moved to the USA as far as I'm aware.

My first gig was OK, until the singer randomly decided we were going to do a cover of Knocking On Heaven's Door, which myself and the drummer had never tried to play in our lives. We just about blagged it with the guitarist whispering the chords to me while I basically did some pentatonic noodling
