1.
For dramatic effect, and to make this sentence better literature, just ditch the word "and", and use a semicolon instead: In terms of songwriting balance, Andy Partridge was Lennon/McCartney; Semicolon Moulding was Harrison! Great notion! ...as in: I liked it.
Oops... I'll leave my post unedited for, er, posteriority. (Isn't colon moulding an alternative therapy beloved by the likes of Gwyneth Galtrow?)
  2.
I was watching the Rockpalast show on YouTube last night...suprised to see how many of my preferred tracks were sung by Colin Moulding.
In terms of songwriting balance, Andy Partridge was Lennon/McCartney and Colon Moulding was Harrison!

  4.
...and coming from the guitar it feels natural...
Perhaps that's part of it: there's an attitude among some guitarists that playing bass is something any guitarist could do, so to counter this some bass players want to emphasise that "real" bass playing isn't like that!
  5. +1 for the Rode NT-1A (condenser) and SM57 (dynamic) as good all-rounders.
  6.
Is it any good for 'Meddle' ?
7. Yup: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/285763-jazz-bass-tone-settings/page__view__findpost__p__3061075
  8. Yes! I sold my fretted/fretless pair of Wals at the start of a long sabbatical from playing . Now - after joining Basschat about five years ago and contracting that much-discussed ailment - I'm back to the total of too-many. Ideally I'd get it down to three - fretted-with-flats. fretted-with-rounds, and fretless, but the pesky question of four or five strings keeps the total up...
  9.
Id agree, rolling iff the beck pup vol just a tad opens up a whole different sound. To my ear it sounds fuller than wide open ???
Some clever person will be along shortly to explain... something to do with capacitance, or resistance, or something like that...
  10. Mine's a G&L JB-2 - so it's a Jazz improved :-). I find everything-on-full is inferior to having one of the vols rolled back just a little.
  11.
Ha now I've edited it so that people won't understand your comment. Ah well back to " Name that tune"
Unless you also change the picture to something that looks like an owl, my comment still makes sense!
  12.
When I stuck a replacement Jazz neck on a P body I made my owl decal.
That looks nothing like an owl!
  13. I bought a pair of these https://new.andertons.co.uk/p/SMOS10/speaker-stands-accessories/stagg-smos-10-studio-monitor-stand-each with my monitors (Eris E5s), largely out of expediency, as otherwise I wouldn't have anywhere to put the speakers!
  14.
Such a shame this isn't closer to me.
It would be quite a.... Journey
  15.
I've been reading up the guardian's blurb associated with that name. I won't comment other than to say I would question her nationality before questioning her sexuality. Of course, I am doing neither, you brought the name up.
Eh? She's conducting the performance - what have her nationality or sexuality have to do with it?
  16.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kT09wbZ6eqs
"I wanna rim shot" is a lot easier to sing than "I wanna cross-stick" :-)
  17.
Come again?
And make sure you do it in time with Marin Alsop.
  18. Fun! Until I saw that there's a part for Bagpipes (in A)....

    Popups
One thing is for certain though, the only content we have on the Basschat servers is Basschat stuff - we don't have a part time job selling viagra, holiday shares or sexual services (sorry Discreet ).
Less viagra, fewer popups. BTW, is it VIE-agra, or VEE-agra? (Asking for a friend.)
  20.
You book gigs two years in advance?!
Maybe he's talking about the Women's World Cup, in, er.... three years!
  21. Has anyone suggested rolling off the treble yet?
  22.
My baby, she wrote me a latter.
Was it a pro-former latter?
  23. If prog now was like prog was in the 70s, it wouldn't have progressed, would it?
