1. I've chatted to Sir William Glock (former controller of BBC Radio 3 and the Proms) without knowing it. In the world of that pop music, in the 90s I went on a songwriting course which was co-led by Elvis Costello. He was a late addition to the roster, and was introduced as Declan McManus. At the end of the week, he performed as Elvis with the Brodsky Quartet - at which point two of the younger students on the course were asking, incredulously, did you know that was Elvis Costello?!
 2.
As you guessed, my answer is to learn both. Certainly don't abandon the bass clef, as a bass player this is your bread and butter. Remember the only difference between the two clefs is the pitch information - rhythm and note duration etc. are the same so it is not like you are learning a new language and any time spent on one clef will aid the other in recognition and performance of this information. Discounting ledger lines, there are just 5 lines on each stave and 4 spaces in between - that's not much to learn
Yep, All Cows Eat Grass, Good Boys Deserve Favour Always... sorted, 🤓
 3.
Why not get Alex to make you a "custom special" cab with a chicken-wire front to match the knobs?
What an eggsellent idea!
 4. I don't want one of those. I repeat, I dont want one of those...
 5. Excellent choice on the Slinkys. I am/was a flats (Chromes) man, struggling to get on with standard D'Addario rounds. A bass I bought here on Basschat came with Slinkys on, and I was an instant convert!
 6.
'70s USA Precisions are rubbish, unless you've got one (see my sig), which is invariably the exception that proves the rule.
Hmm, mine's one of the good ones, so yours must be rubbish
 7.
heft is what's left when someone nicks your tea.
Very good.
 8. Mine has already been mentioned - a 78 (ish) white/maple Precision. Also mentioned is the one that I most regret selling - a Wal ProIIE!
 9.
BC is just flat-out better, a nicer place to hang out and ask questions, IMO. Far less conflict in 'ere.
And who asked you?
 10. It's hard to pick just one, so I'm going for Lovesexy (the album) - my CD copy has just one track on it, with all nine songs!
 11. I have one of these, sounds great, doesn't weigh much... grab a bargain, someone!
 12.
Nowt wrong with a favourite song thread for any artist dead or alive
Let's have one for Paul McCartney then!
 13.
Hmm, and you, a mod, mention a politicians name on here? Put yourself in the corner young man and prepare for a good flogging!!'
I don't know which is more abhorrent, that the person he mentioned is a politician or that he plays one of those high-pitched six-bits-of-cheesewire devices!
 14.
Youth hostelling with Chris eubank?
Wasn't that actually made earlier this year?
 15.
I wouldn't take too much notice of the oft quoted, by internet experts, nonsense about 70's Fenders. I'm not saying that there weren't some shoddy ones and some heavy ones but honestly, there were plenty of really fine ones. I know that Discreet has mentioned that his one is a cracker and I also have a 74 that is one very lovely instrument.
Yep, my 77-ish P (like Discreet's, a blondie) is on the heavy side but it's lovely, plays and sounds great.
 16. I bought Ian's jazz piano book - he sent it off very promptly and well-packaged. No hesitation in recommending Ian!
 17.
I remember being caught at it by my mum as a teenager. Not a great experience. I was watching Mork & Mindy.
Were you, er, concentrating on Mork, Mindy, or both?
 18.
He looks like John McEnroe in that one also, imho
You cannot be serious.
 19.
Ah, memories. My sister told me once that, when I were a lad and a girlfriend and I used to disappear to my room, supposedly to "listen to music", which we turned up loud believing it would cover any noise we made, the light fitting in the living room (which was directly beneath my room) would start to swing from side to side. My father would look up from his paper, roll his eyes, look at my mother and harrumph. Fair play to them for not disturbing us.
Do you mean that the bass in the music was hitting the lamp fitting's resonant frequency?
 20.
Had to re-do a few because she interrupted. It is a bit annoying!

She could have caught him doing worse things in his bedroom...
You, ahem, beat me to it...
 21. Meh. I still prefer Beyonce.
 22.
Is anyone else watching all these videos just in case they find that they're playing on them?
I'm NOT watching all these videos just in case I find that I'm playing on them!
 23.
Narcolepsy?
Narcolepsy.
 24.
A series of mistrials, due to acute narcolepsy rendered the lawsuit unmanageable.
25.
Is anyone else here really glad that YouTube didn't exist when you were young?
+1 There are still some photos whose negatives I need to track down and destroy, but thankfully most of those Boots C120s disintegrated some time ago....
