1. I like the Sonic Port. Very happy with it.
2. The Empress is a great unit. I sold mine to get the Supersymmetry purely as the jacks are on top and it takes up less space but I'd be very happy to have another. Compressor addiction is real though. You don't need a better one. You need more of them!
3. Do the 5 string precisions sound like a precision?
4. The QP has more bass than a stock P bass pickup, but it is also weaker in the mids. It is not as clanky. The Dimarzio Will Power is thick and clanky but I have no idea if they do a 5 string. I think they do some custom ones. Nordstrand will make anything you like and the increased charge for a custom is pretty small. Might be worth emailing them.
5. http://www.ericgarland.co/2016/09/27/gibson-rating-moodys/ Interesting reading, but not really in a good way.
6. "Will you people do what I say, when I say?" Solves all problems.
7. New demo up with 3 different players https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xr4V7IX3bzQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xr4V7IX3bzQ
8. ON HOLD / SOLD pending the usual.
9. Bump for photos.
10. Eich T500 (same as Tecamp Puma 500) Awesome amps. Well made. Versatile.
11. Darkglass B7K for sale. Latest Finnish version with the "cut" option. Excellent condition, never gigged. Velcro on the bottom. £195 delivered in the U.K. PayPal or cash only. Photo to follow in a mo
12. You can just turn up and visit Roger Sadowsky workshop. Try some 5k basses and buy a t shirt!
13. Uploaded IR are static - no adjustment. the stock ones have loads of adjustment options - mic type, distance from the cone etc etc. I haven't yet found an external IR that can't be duplicated by fiddling with the stock ones.
14. Muscle inflammation can lead to ulnar nerve irritation. Can get really bad I had to stop playing for 3 months for physiotherapy
15. I'll have it. Sort out payment tomorrow- I'm going to bed!
16. Could be. Bass Direct's facebook page claimed they were getting the amps in next week.
17. That is interesting - especially as they are more expensive on the pedals than Bass Direct are.
18. Yes.
19. Apparently the new Darkglass amp will run at 2ohm. But it's not cheap. Well, compared to a DB751 it is, but that's not light!
20. When will they be on sale in the UK?
21.
He has put a lot of work into the cooling system though to ensure that it only spins up when it needs to with variable speed. Unlike the Aguilar TH500 that comes on full blast after 10 minutes sat idle! So don't discount it until you've tried it or seen some reviews! I can't think of an amp I've tried that doesn't have a fan except the AD200.
Tecamp Puma 300 and 500 don't have fans. No does the PJB new head
22. My old band covered it. It's an Eb tuning job. Just doesn't sound right in E, and certainly doesn't sound right just shifting up an octave for the affected notes. It's a great tune and just about every pub crowd knows the words. Always goes down well.
23. http://www.youtube....h?v=AaWxhQ5PaPo I want it.
24. It must be a question of overheads. It's very easy to say "Fender should drop the prices to the level of the American Specials" but with the much publicised financial difficulties I doubt they can afford to do it. None of us know the profit margin of a US built Precision. It doesn't just come down to the wood cost and the employee time - it's the rest. Transport, support staff, sales staff, building puchase, insurance policies (US Prices!) and probably one of the largest electricity bills on the planet outside of Apple. Bulk item manufacturing margins can be as low as 10%. If it's anywhere near that then the simply cannot reduce the prices without either making a loss or reducing the cost and thus quality of the components. I'm going to guess - the little differences between Mex and US models is going to disappear. So the Mex will get the graphite rods and the lightweight tuning heads etc. Effectively the American Standard will be built in Mexico.
25. According to the STRATosphere guys Fender are about to announce the end of the American Series - possibly leaving US production only to the Deluxe / Elite models and the Custom Shop stuff. I'm not sure how I feel about this. US Precisions haven't been worth the premium over the Mexican Standards for a long time, and the "posh" Mexican models like the Classic 50s / Roadworn / Lacquer Finish ones are amazing (as they should be for over £1000). If they just put the graphite rods in the Mex necks it would be the same instrument anyway.
