1. I use the Gigrig system. It's ace.
2. Get any 4 string set you like and add the low B.
3. I might be making this up - but isn't Jon Myung's 6 string bongo actually put together with a 5 string neck for really narrow spacing? I'm sure I read that somewhere at some point,
4. I've an Urge II, and it is really versatile. The P pickup is a little further back than normal so it's not quite a proper P sound but with a bit of the neck J added in it works well enough.
5. I wish I had the money. I really want to try one of these.
6. Many Ross based compressors (usually guitar ones) have low end roll off. Sometimes that is useful. Sometimes not. I prefer to do that with my EQ. I'd get a bass one - with a clean blend on it (sometimes called "New York" or "Parallel") so a bit of the uncompressed signal can be mixed in. That feature is more common on dedicated bass compressors. Empress Compressor Darkglass Super Symmetry EQD The Warden plenty more too. The compressor bible is here: ovnilab.com The reviewer is a bassist and all reviews with bass in mind.
7. Whatever is in the Sandbergs does that. When in passive mode the Treble becomes a passive tone, just reducing it from te centre point. I think some of the East preamps have an option to have a passive tone control on it too.
8. MU or Equity membership
9. Darkglass M900 Engage the VMT, lower the drive. Amazing tone.
10. What's the weight please?
11. My favourites are the Empress Compressor and the Darkglass Super Symmetry.
12. I'd love to try a Euro 5XL, but looking at the specs it seems there is pretty much no hope of me finding one that weighs under 9lb.
13. Location please.
14. I don't want an outboard as my pedal board is too heavy as it is. I might try the Darkglass and keep the pickups at the moment. The Delano size and shape appear to be unique to them and I want to avoid routing if I can.
15. I have a lovely Marleaux Consat Custom. It has a balanced modern sound that really suits jazz and other mellower styles. The output is quite modest, albeit very well balanced. I'd like some more clank to get a more aggressive rocky tone. I am aware that even the "neck" pickup is quite far back and that might limit things. It currently has some Delano pickups (don't know the model) and a Glockenklang 3 band EQ I am undecided whether I need to just change the pickups or preamp or both. Ideally any new pickups should be the same size so I can put it back to stock if needed. I'm quite open minded about brands. I like EMG, I like the Nordstand's I've heard. I'm happy to keep the pickups and change the preamp for a Darkglass Tone Capsule or an East or whatever of some description too. Any advice would be welcome as the options are melting my brain.
16. You had me up to "talented"
17. The best £10 spent at any gig is a pie and a pint for the sound guy.
18. Gigged mine again yesterday. It was excellent. Low drive VMT blended with clean, doing old swing tunes. Sounded like a fat B15.
19. Andertons have NEVER made a good bass video. It's like they don't know how.
20. Panto is awesome. I go every year without fail.
21.
Sometimes a badge has a lot of influence. You'd be a liar if you told me you'd rather have a car with a Noble badge in your garage than a Ferrari badge.
I'd have the Noble. No way would I want people thinking I was a footballer.
22. I've been using the EBMM Cobalt flats. The low b is very good. Very pleased with it
23. West side Distribution have a demo room. Call them.
