  1. It looks like a yellow and black Hartke HA3500 to me! They've just moved one of the gain controls to the other side of the EQ.
  2. I'm really curious about the Endurneck. Seems a fascinating concept. As for prices - the guitars run from about £1500 to £3000 depending on where they are built so I'd imagine the same for the basses. It's the weight that really appeals. They've got the guitars down to about 5lb. That might mean 6 to 7lb basses. That would really float my boat if I like the neck.
  3. DAMN YOU FOR DAMAGING MY WORLD VIEW!
  4. Keytardists are called that for a reason. Not even Prince could make one cool.
  5. I had one of these once. I bought it at the original RRP - which I think was about £2400! It was one of the finest sounding amps I have ever played. Then I joined a mostly woodwind band and the band leader wouldn't tolerate fan noise of any kind. He wanted silence when the sheet music said silence! I did think about getting a tech to swap the fan for a super quiet model but it was still in warranty at the time and I didn't want to risk it. I ended up trading it in at Bass Gear for a Demeter head (no fan) instead. The Demeter was very good indeed, but couldn't match the Mesa.
  6. I quite fancy a change from my Cali. Just for GAS reasons!
  7. I've been thinking of one of these - but looking at the Keeley website and Andertons I have noticed something odd. The Keeley site shows different knobs and also states the Release time can be as long as 3s, whereas the close up picture on Andertons' shows 1.5ms There are other value differences shown too. Any ideas which one is correct, or whether there have been 2 versions?
  8. EBS Billy Sheehan Deluxe This is EBS's take on Billy Sheehan's Pearce Preamp. Very different flavour of drive to the dUg pedal, also has a clean blend and has 2 separate loops for the clean and drive sides so you can put different FX into each side using Insert cables. Very usefully has a phase switch so you can keep the tone beefy as hell, or back it off a bit in the mix. Also contains a compressor and a boost to further increase the filth. TOP TIP - don't listen to Billy Sheehan's demos of it at NAMM as it sounds like its recorded on a phone. Instead listen to Erik's video demo and comparison with the B3K and the original non-deluxe EBS UNIQUE FEATURE: The OP Amp chip is loaded into an easy change socket and EBS actively advertise it to tweakers - change the chip for other things if you like. No soldering required. No box or instructions on this one. £135 including UK delivery ono. PRICE DROP TO £100 delivered UK
  9. Location? Shipping? Trades? photos of the back as well? How old is it? Etc etc? these are all things buyers want to know.
  10. nothing.
  11. Big j blade. I’ve got one in my pj and it’s great
  12. I think that just means you don’t like them. Not that they are over rated. Good click bait though.
  13. I bought the cheaper 6 string set.
  14. I've got mine now. Going to put them on my PJ-Ray. First time I will have had them on this particular bass. Looking forward to it.
  15. Westside Distribution deal with Mesa over here. They are massively unhelpful with grey imports. Not a surprise as it cuts into their sales.
  16. Anyone had any luck finding any deals on 5 string TI Flats? I could do with a set but the best I've spotted was £75 delivered. About 18 months ago I managed to find a set at £40 (for the 5 string) - wish I had loaded up at the time!
  17. The M13 is previous generation tech. It does not remotely feature a lot of the same sounds. Those sounds might be what a player wants, but they are not the same.
  18. Just don’t look at the live stuff on YouTube from a couple of years ago. Its awful.
  19. I’ve on,y recently started learning dots. I started because I joined the same educational trust music group my kids attend. They are grade 5 and 3 on various woodwinds and within those grades can sight read anything. So when I was given sheet music I was pretty much lost. Now I’m not. Now I don’t feel like an idiot anymore. However it has also opened up a massive new world for me - now I can simply look for sheet music for anything I want to play and not rely on crap web tabs. It’s not just bass music either - anything written on the bass clef is now doable. Sometimes I get tuba and piano parts instead if that is what the trust has. Tuba and piano parts don’t usually have chord boxes or similar information. i can now read rhythm as well - tab does not give rhythmic information. ive been dabbling for about 4 years, and seriously doing it for 1. My playing has improved and I’m more confident. I started using Double bass sight reading tests and just practicing 5 or 10 minutes a day. Doesn’t need any more to really make progress. 2 hours in one sitting is a crap idea - brains don’t work like that. Little and often is far more efficient. Ive also signed up for the Jeff Berlin course. It’s pretty good but it’s really just an extension of the double bass stuff I’m practising. Go go for it - my feeling is that I used to be allowed in the library but I couldn’t understand the books. Now I can read them, even if I’m really not that much further into the shelves than the hungry caterpillar!
