  1. They refuse repairs on all grey imports all the time. Mr and Mrs Silly Billy. (That’s what twaaaat gets auto corrected to )
  2. I had the Prodigy 4:88. it was well made and sounded superb. But it also had the Loudest cooling fan I’ve ever known. It was effectively impossible to use it in the house or to play with acoustic instruments, particularly woodwinds. why they went for a cheap noisy fan when nearly noiseless options aren’t much more expensive is beyond me. Also when an amp is £1899 it is taking the fosters to charge another £150 for the footswitch. would I have another one? Yes. It sounded excellent. But I’d buy used and immediately take it to a tech to have a silent fan put in. And don’t get me started on Westside Distribution’s UK pricing structure. Used values will give you a hint where the real value is. A Dual Rectifier RRP is Now £2991.00 You can get a used one for under a grand if you are patient.
  3. I'm using flats with the Aggie so my thinking is that a warm pup might be a bit lacking in definition with a 60s P and flats together. I'm also thinking that if I wire it like a stack knob then the J will have it's own tone control to wooly it up if I need to.
  4. Well they sound pretty nice! Just have to decide whether to get the clean & clear or the warmer one for the bridge of my P-Ray. The Aguilar 60s P pickup is staying as it is wonderful in every way.
  5. Ouch. 10lb is definitely a non-starter for my poor old back.
  6. Anyone got one of these basses? They seem to have a great online reputation, and from a few reviews seem to be lighter than a Fender P. The narrower neck appeals too. I quite fancy a good passive P and it doesn't have to be a Fender, and as Duck Dunn probably has my favourite precision sound it seems like a bit of a no-brainer if the Skyline series are up to it. All thoughts welcome, particularly about the weight of them - if I couldn't get one under 8.5lb then this idea is a non-starter. ta.
  7. Ace! Thank you. Having searched for that I see Mooosharekkkkk have also done a bass with them in, the Clean & Clear winding. When I get home I'll have a good listen on some proper speakers.
  8. That Yammie is lovely. US ebay has one for about $2000. I bet it weighs as much as I do as well
  9. Heavy cabs Heavy amps Basses that weigh more than 8.5 lb Playing in rock bands Basses that have even a minuscule amount of neck dive
  10. ThorpyFX Fallout Cloud. active 2 band EQ on it. Perfect for bass use.
  11. If the pub has heavily advertised the gig and was expecting more punters because of live music then finding a replacement was the right thing to do. i earn some of my money from magic. If I can’t do a show I have to find someone else if at all possible. It’s the right thing to do. Extra money - maybe. Depends on the type of show.
  12. Does anyone have any experience with these? I'm thinking of further modding my P-Ray to turn it into a PJ-Ray. The difficulty is that almost all J pickups are for 19mm spacing. Aguilar do a 17.5mm option but they are special orders and they appear to only be available as a pair. I only want the bridge version. The Nordstrand blade appears to make string spacing issues irrelevant. Anyone tried one? I'll probably take the plunge anyway, but opinions are always welcome!
  13. I did. Lovely thing. It was the black and maple - particularly with the vintage tint on the neck that had me very excited. When I play big band I always take a 5 string as I usually get piano scores, but when I'm playing at home the 4 strings come out.
  14. oh man. I didn't see it. Gutted. Proper gutted.
  15. So you selling your black MIM yet? Just asking!
  16. Elders React to Rammstein 5 million views
  17. Every band I've been in I have been one of the founding members or started it completely. The guys that audition had to fit with me. It wasn't planned like that, it just happened. I actually really like the idea of being given a set list to learn and then just having to turn up. I'd be very happy to never do the organisation again. I'm not really gigging at the moment (apart from an educational trust orchestra), but in a couple of years my eldest daughter will be old enough to be allowed to play in the jazz clubs. She is turning into a great clarinettist and (at the moment anyway) wants me and a drummer friend to play with her. If we can find a good pianist then we'll have a great little jazz quartet. Really looking forward to that!
  18. This one makes me laugh. It also reminds me of when I heard something amazing for the first time
  19. 70s disco sounds awesome. How do I do that?
