  1. I quite like that. I wonder how heavy they are.
  2. Yes. Keeley Pro. It made me sell my Cali76
  3. Rehearsal went well this morning. The sound was definitely chunkier and had more clank when the tone was up full. I did cut the bass on the amp a fair bit to make sure it wasn’t getting too boomy. Im going to put the La Bellas on the lighter P bass now, as the other one is too heavy for a 3 hour rehearsal. Im actually tempted to try a set of the 760 on my Sandberg jazz.
  4. No. Modern P bass nut width according to the website.
  5. Not according to the fender website. 41.2mm nut, not the 38mm of a jazz
  6. Anyone? Just thinking about the next one! 😂
  7. I've not tried the D'addario halfs but I have had GHS Pressurewounds in the past and I do like them. The bass with the La Bella's is the heavier bass - it's making me realise why I always play the lighter one! Not that the heavy one is heavy - it's 9lb I'm getting old!
  8. I'll find out on saturday. When I play at home I go through my Helix and into Studio monitors and I have a bunch of EQ presets to flip between. Can't remember which one I used!
  9. Did an hour's practice this morning with some backing tracks. Definitely sounds different to the TI. Thicker sounding. Feel is also very different - the La Bellas are smoother. The E string seems a bit wooly compared to the others at the moment but I seem to remember in the mists of time that after a week or so they will wear in and be very similar. And anyway I tend to turn the Tone control down to at least 50% for this sort of music so there's no clank even on the higher strings. Tension / suppleness is very different too. I am liking them.
  10. La Bellas installed. Truss Rod tweaked. Rehearsal on Saturday!
  11. Gary bought some pickups from me. Smooth as silk!
  12. If I was in the PA anyway there is no way I could ever be arsed to carry big cabs around. Life is too short to be lugging 8x10s about. My little Barefaced One10s are perfect for stage monitoring I'd probably take the fosters though - maybe hang up a poster of the 8x10s on my side.
  13. The old Washburn acoustic basses were great and come up at about £250 used. Have you got other instruments you can sell off? If you can then the lightest full scale solid body is probably the Sandberg Superlight TT4. They vary of course, but they are 6.5 to 6.8lb most of the time. Superb instruments!
  14. I have had those before. Stopped using them when I was 5 strings only because the B string sucks. Might try them again!
  15. I've been playing my SL TT4 a lot with my big band. Currently strung with nickel D'addario. I like them a lot, but I have to say in a Big Band environment they are a bit twangy. I'm wondering whether to just let them get old, or put flats back on it.
  16. I’ve ordered the FL. Fingers crossed I like them
  17. Way too heavy for me! and him when he got older
  18. I am a big Duck Dunn fan.... mmmm..
  19. I’m not a fan of rounds on a P, unless I’m in a rock band.
  20. Rotos? I seem to. remember they are very bright too start but then mellow out. Been a long time since I tried them though.
  21. I would not have called TIs old school. They are not like La Bella flats. The TIs cut through plenty, even when I’m n the same space as the trombones.
  22. At the moment they both have TI flats on them. Im thinking of putting different stings on one of them for a bit of variety. Definitely flats, but which? My current gig is a big band with about 20 people. Brass, reeds, piano, drums etc.
  23. The US specials have shallower necks too - which is why I have them.
