1.
If covers bands are allowed then Nearly Dan gets my vote. Outstanding.
Mine too . Seen them a couple of times a few years ago must be time for another visit
2. Thanks Ive requested to join
3. Right up street musically but sadly too far away geographically. What is the FB group. I'm on a couple for deps and coverbands locally.
4.
Wasn't he considered for the Olympic fencing team at one point?
http://ultimateclassicrock.com/bruce-dickinson-fencing/
5.
I hate it when that happens. I pulled into a petrol station behind Bruce Dickinson a few months ago and was reminded that I'm not a wealthy rock singer/world class fencer/airline pilot/author. Just one of those would be enough for most people, surely. He's just showing off.
He's a pretty hot fencer too.
6. My word i cant imagine how loud that is ! Sorry to hear about your arthritis has curtailed your bass playing. Good luck with the sale Mike
7. Doh! Typo changed. Besides that was earlier in my career when I needed the money.
8. Already missing the smell of the crowd roar of the greasepaint Bump
9. Wish This was nearer to me. Sounds just the ticket bump. Any connections with this and the intriguing NYE gig story ?
10. I like Rumer. there's a good Live from darryl's session with her http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqgmTGQ8MIU&list=PLBF9EC31C4399351B&feature=share This dusts my broom too: http://youtu.be/Vifw3aQbrlY
11. Great thread Johnnyboy. A really good project and well done for getting stuck in. Expect youll be starting another soon !
12.
Joan Armatrading with Tony Levin on bass http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pjMwzujbHE
Id forgotten that excellent. Should also be posted in the tasteful and understated bass parts thread
13. Great fun thanks for sharing I hope 2014 continues in a similar vein for you all. What a great band
14.
Well this is probably the sweetest voice I have heard. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuglvdPZ-JU
also true. And soon as you hear the first notes it sounds like no one else
15.
If the topic is sublime, sadly missed singers, may I offer this for your consideration...? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2xODjbfYw8 One of the finest, ever, imo. Sadness; gone too soon.
Absolutely. Have you heard thea gilmore's album covering sandy denny's songs ? Its very good
16.
Blimey - if you've got your own mic and stand your way ahead of most of the vocalists I've worked with! In my experience, they turn up two minutes before the soundcheck, then after the gig flirt with the punters while we pack up the kit
Ive often found that of these two items to bring along the singer will often forget one or both.
17. Are you stil selling the multicomp ?
18. Very nice but may I politely suggest that more you less bedspread would be better
19. I will be leaving my current band Plan C, website below, after our next gig on NYE and so will be available for any interesting new musical, projects, depping opportunities next year. Ideally paid but open to anything interesting I have been playing in covers and function bands for years, have good gear, I'm reliable and always turn up to rehearsals on time, having learned the songs first. Love playing anything with a bit of groove and will play most genres of music except heavy metal and would prefer to avoid classic rock type setlists, although I really don't mind depping on Sweet Home Alabama occasionally if it gets me out of the house. Gissa job Mike http://plancband.co.uk/home.html http://youtu.be/VyBc22YS4u0
20.
Highly recommend Nile Rodgers' Le Freak. Anyone recommend Lemmy Kilmisters biography?
Definitely Nile Rodgers. One of the best muso biogs Ive read
21. Tony visconti's one is good Joe boyds too. Just reading Keef's which I quite lik
22. Dark Side or Wish you were here for me A cautionary tale though: Years ago I was discussing over a pint or 6 with a bunch of workmates our most embarrasing teenage moments. My colleague related the time that he was lying on his bed at home with headphones on, eyes closed, listening to Wish You Were Here while here having a spot of er... "me time" . When he came round there was a nice hot cup of tea on the bedside table.
23. Really enjoyed that one too thanks Mike Will really have to come and see you chaps live sometime.
