Cheers guys, it was nice to hear that familar Precision sound again - even it is only a Squier athough I must confess I,m not a fan off those dome topped control knobs!
5. Was you out when they called? - Did they chuck it over yer back garden fence in the pouring rain? - Must have only happened to me then!!

I picked up this 12 year old Squire P Bass from ebay for only £150. Its based on a '60's Precision with bridge cover, tugbar with tort pickguard and what seems to be the now obligatory "fake" Fender headstock logo. Just needed a tweak of the truss and a new set of Elite players and it sings like a bird!!

8. Quite difficult I believe, the late great George Harrison had one back in the 60's but he didnt know how to play it, so he tuned it like a guitar and played it on Norwegian Wood. He later had lessons from Ravi Shankar and became quite proficient on it!
9. I wonder if they supply the hacksaw to cut out the headstock shape?
10. Well, thats me sorted for those long rainy days in my caravan in Skegness!! Clicky
11. Might be interested, waiting for pics.
12.
Had a club gig in London on Sat night 7 bands all the bass players had Jazz Basses amongst other guitars weird... present was an old '60s jazz owned by some old geezer
How very dare you!! Something tells me that its been many a year since you locked yourself in your bedroom, with your mums littlewoods catalogue open at the womens underwear section and a box of kleenex!
13. I recently had a Behringer 180 watt Ultrabass 12" combo, it wasnt particuarly a bad amp, but it was so heavy to carry for a small amp that I had to get rid of it. The ultrabass thing was a bit of a gimmick too - I never used that feature. +1 with the Ashdown.
14. I use them on my Squier jazz, they seem to be OK although the windings are a bit on the long side and sit on the saddle of the E string making the string sound dead.
15.
The original Fender bass had through body stringing.
Yes, the original 1951 P bass came with through body stringing, but not until about 1995 did I see a USA P bass that had them again, that was the 50th anniversary model IIRC
16.
Does it have a badass?
I believe this is the updated bad-teeth model.
17. I did some research on MM Stingrays when looking to buy one after many years of playing a P bass, and come across the importance of unplugging the amplifier lead to save battery life! Glad I did, or I,d be on a battery a week!!
18. Do you have any Bounty bars? - In milk chocolate, they come in a blue and white wrapper. Not plain as they come in a red and white wrapper.
19. What do the pickups sound like when turned up loud? Is there a significant loss of top end?
20. That was The first bass I ever owned, way back in 1982 - followed by a westone thunder 1 in 1983 Dreadful thing it was! - My past has come back to haunt me!!
21. Been playing bass since about 1982 and still no good at it Low point - Being booed offstage when the P A failed midsong. High point - Playing bass on a friend of a friends bands recording, at the world famous Abbey Road studios
22. If you prefer a multitrack machine, I picked up one of these on ebay for peanuts recently, built in drum machine and digital effects and burn your own CD on it!

Jazz

My VM Jazz, note the dodgy 3 peice body under the shiny varnish!
24. I had a similar problem with the E string on the Jazz Bass. It turned out to be the silk winding on the ball end was resting on the bridge saddle. This caused a loss of sustain and a dead tone. But I actually liked the effect and kept the string on!
25. This post had me thinking about up the neck playing. I never really play beyond the 10th fret in normal gigging mode, although I occasionally do a little lick in E which ends up on the G# 13th fret G string
