  1. I can’t speak for the G50 but much like Les I’ve had a G30 on my pedalboard for years. Theres no noise at all. For power I’m using the Diago Micropower9 to power everything. Not the cheapest but it’s small, tidy and noise-free.
  2. I have three. One in each of the hard cases I use for gigging and another in the soft case I use for rehearsals.
  3. Death From Above 1979 were the first band I saw doing this kind of thing. They’ve released three distinctly different albums so far. This is from the first... There’s also a local (to me) band called You Want Fox who are pretty good!
  4. Mine was All The Small Things by blink-182. Really simple so it was easy to pick up.
  5. As I have just picked up a Fender 610 I no longer have need (or space!) for my 4x10. Bought new in 2015. Some scuffs to the tolex but no damage. Sounds great and it’s also super light! Collection from Nottingham or I’ll be happy to travel within a reasonable distance. Spec on the Fender website. Cheers!
  6. Just picked up a Fender 6x10. Bought a new Big Muff, too, after mine failed a couple of weeks ago. A resounding fail for me. Although I did last one entire month!
  7. Those are fairly common for cheaper pickups, especially Mex Fenders and Squiers. They use ceramic magnets under the pickups which magnetise the pole pieces through contact whereas higher end pickups will often magnetise the pole pieces themselves instead. I don’t know why (nor do I know the technical details, as you may have guessed) but this is the gist of it.
  8. It was all going so well until yesterday when I decided that I need a 6x10. Havent bought one yet but the GAS is strong.
  9. No but we once named our guitarist’s guitars for him. He had two identical Fret-King Esprits, a white one and a black one. He also liked to drink whisky so we named them Whyte and Mackay. Whyte was the black one. Obviously.
  10. I don’t know what model but Drad Delson from Linkin Park has always worn Shure headphones for live monitoring. If they’re ok for headlining stadiums then it can’t be bad.
  11. I also remember seeing a studio tour with Dave Grohl where he had a Les Paul made from NASCAR parts. Can’t find the video though.
  12. Nice! I’ve had a few guitars and basses made by Andy over the years and they’re all great! Good luck finding it!
  13. How many flights of stairs have you carried it up so far? I wish I still had my SVT rig. Transport issues forced to go get rid of it.
  14. It’s something that will come with practice. It’s a new movement for muscles that don’t often move on that way otherwise. As an example, you decide that you want to be able to do the splits. On day one you can’t get your legs anywhere near that wide apart but after months of practice and repetition you can do it. The same applies to your hands. Enjoy your bass journey!
  15. Given how many of those first 3 records (Domination still sells fairly well too) they still sell (I used to work for Earache) it is a bit odd that neither band play any of those songs since that’s clearly what people want to hear. Those albums are indeed landmarks for the genre. I believe Covenant was the first million-selling death metal record!
  16. Thanks for the input. The flight case is on it’s way. Got a few gigs next month so I’ll see how it sounds then.
  17. Actually, it was just really badly written and everyone answered in the way I intended. It’s the cab that I want to put on top of the flight case. I’ve edited the post, thanks for pointing it out!
  18. That’s good, it seems I was worrying about the wrong thing. I clearly need to work on my understanding of physics!
  19. My sound is fairly similar to yours with the addition of fuzz so that sounds good to me.
  20. Thanks, I’ll look that up. I think trail and error will probably be the way, just wanted to gain some knowledge up front.
  21. That’s good to hear. So you didn’t get any low end loss or boominess?
  22. I’m thinking of buying a flight case for my head. It’s a Fender Bassman and as the knobs stick out a fair way they’re easily damaged during transport etc. I know this as ir happened to my previous Bassman. I’m currently using a 4x10 so I’m thinking of standing this on top of the flight case at gigs to raise it a bit (I do miss my old 8x10!). I’ve no doubt that this will affect the sound somehow but I’d like to know how much and on what way. I’d also like to hear whether anyone has done this and what their opinion is. Thanks!
