1.
Why is this on here though, I feel sure its a Bass forum?
What, you want another bass kit sharing thread ? Really ?
  2. Kyle bought my Fuzzrocious Rat Tail - lovely chap, wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again. Nicely Nicely, Captain
  3. Glad you got it sorted - lovely-looking bass !
  4. They're floor pedals, put them on the floor somewhere where you can't fall over them and then try not to fall over them. There is no simpler solution to my mind, sorry.
  5. You wouldn't be interested in just swapping the neck would you ? I have home-finished bass with a CV Jazz bass neck that I'd like to convert to fretless, and as your fretless neck looks like a jazz neck it'd suit me fine. Whereabouts in London are you ?
  6.
You'll put down a guide track first that will be to a click track. Then the drumer will play along to that, so all willl be good. You'll have a vocal track to guide you. There will be no problem with reading off a pad as there's no audience. If you mess up, you can just re-record the part you messed up. Relax.
I'd agree (and with Tonteee). The band seem confident enough in your abilities to go into the studio, so go with that vibe. If they want to record a song you're not 100% with then that's fine - you've told the band you feel stretched so just give it your best shot. I rather suspect you'll surprise yourself. Good luck.
  7. Awesome album - listened to it last week as it happens.
  8.
....and the Yamaha DX7.
9. To be fair most bands don't advertise for 'fretted basses only', so there's nothing to stop you taking a fretless to an audition. You're still playing bass, after all.
  10. Very tempting if it's as good as the J Mascis model - which a offset-mad friend of mine raves over.

A friend of mine may be taking the Turbo Rat off my hands - ad modified.

    SOLD
Interested in the rat, but no idea what it would do to my already bass lacking sound. Clips sound cool on YouTube and that, but if it sucks any low end out of my sound it'd be a RE sell, can you give me any ideas?
It depends what you're after - Rats are guitar pedals and as such will cut the bottom end. The Turbo Rat is pretty good at keeping the low end, but a lot of people use them with blend pedals to make sure of a solid bass. Not to do myself out of a sale but if you're lacking low end and you're after higher-gain sounds then you may be better off elsewhere...or buying mine and getting a blend pedal. Which would be cool, cos...more pedals.

    SOLD

Few more pedals up for grabs: ProCo Rat - A little battered, but still working fine. I've removed the stock chip and installed a socket and an LM308N chip for extra, um, vibe. Sounds just like a Rat should £35 posted Digitech Delay - Works fine, could do with a clean, but a great little delay, the tape delay sound is particularly nice. - does lo-o-o-o-o-o-ooping as well. £30 posted. EHX Bass Soul Food - You know this one, of course. Want a Geddy Lee sound ? Jazz bass and this will do you fine. Good condition. £40 posted No boxes or PSUs I'm afraid, but all will be packed securely. I'm in Tottenham, London so local meet-ups are always a possibility. UK-only, direct transfer preferred.
  14. ...and gone. Thanks for looking folks
  15.
Pavement with songs like Mellow Jazz Docent; In the Mouth a Desert; Frontward; So Stark (You're a Skyscraper) and Lions (Linden)
Very much agree - 'Conduit for sale' springs to mind.
  16. Can you find the 9115 PCB (first page of the diagrams) and check the voltages on P4 & P5 ? This will mean being inside it when it's on, so unless you're confident being around mains and feel safe doing so, please leave it to an expert
  17.
Take the bridge off and see if there's a wire there. It won't be soldered on to anything, just set into a tiny indent. That little hole leads to the little indent under the bridge and that's where the wire should stick out of, making contact with the underside of the bridge when screwed down.
Plus the one The empty hole in the control cavity should have the spare wire running through it to the bridge.
  18. Up for sale is a Fuzzrocious Rat Tail - an brilliant bass distortion modelled on the Rat (but I don't think Fuzzrocious can say that any more...) This incarnation has a 2nd footswitch and control for distortion, so you can have two different amounts on gnarl and switch between them. The two white knobs change the texture of the distortion a la the 'Ruetz mod'. It's a great pedal - I've built and modded a few version of the Rat for bass and this is one of the best. I'd hang onto it but I'm relying on other boxes for my grind these days. It's in excellent condition, no box but I'll pack securely. There's two strips of velcro on the base, but you can have them - don't say I'm not the sharing type UK only please, bank transfer very much preferred. I'm in Tottenham, London so local pickup is always a option. £75 (and a fiver off if I don't have to post)
  19. There you go - folks almost 30 years older than me gigging 6 or 7 times as often as I do. Or maybe 9 or 10..... /sniff/

    G&L Kiloton

Sounds like overkill if you ask me.
  21.
Alex James wrote some great bass lines.
F**k yeah !
  22.
I've no idea how anyone who plays an instrument could not understand the sheer fun of writing music, an actual song, that doesn't revolve around how technical anyone in the band is. Writing a song, from scratch, including lyrics, then putting it all together with everyone helping with their own part, is an amazing part of music. It far surpasses any cover work or 'doing it for the money'. Technical proficiency does not make you a good musician. There are many many great bass players in 'indie'....
F**k yeah ! (anyone miss me btw ?)
  23.
I must be really lucky. In 30 years of playing, all the drummers I've ever played with have been really nice, stable guys.
Yes, me too - they've not all been guys, but not one 'nightmare' like some seem to encounter all the time. I'm not necessarily saying all those drummers have been nice tho - it's just that I'm a really, really nice man.
  24.
Are you a non-binary person? It sounds very much like they don't want any Alpha males wading in and messing up the vibe.
To be fair, it's impossible to say from the advert why they want what they do.
  25. Why not apply, see what they say ?
