  1. It's alright Grandad, the bowls is on soon.
  2. Great song, quintessential bass, but the video.... 1:52. Oi ! Ray !!!
  3. If it's a picking speed thing, then slowing the song down and going over it again and again and again is the only thing that's really worked for me. You need to train those muscles - stick with your usual plectrum and just keep at it. Sorry, boring answer.
  4. OK, I loaded a load of fairly nonsensical keywords and prompts into https://www.song-lyrics-generator.org.uk/ ...and with a couple of tweaks came up with what could almost pass as a Pavement song Summer Dental Conference (No Monster Trucks) "We're all going to a summer dental conference No more begging for a week or two Guitars and stack shoes at our summer dental conference No more monster trucks for me or you For a week or two Summertime, and the givin' is open Sisters are lying and the are wagers are high Oh, your king's Belgian and your serf is driving So hush my parched bozo, don't you cry Oh the summer of 2543 I can't wait to do some lying with you You can't wait to do some lying with me This just can't be summer love, you'll see This just can't be summer love (Solo) Summertime, and the givin' is open Sisters are lying and the are wagers are high Oh, your king's Belgian and your serf is driving So hush my parched bozo, don't you cry (Spoken Word over breakdown/build-up) Me and some monster trucks from Southampton Had a band and we tried real hard. Kent quit, Jo went inventing I should've known we'd never end up emigrating Oh the summer of 2543 Summer lying had me a blast, oh yeah Summer lying happened so fast, Summer dental conference drifting away, To, uh oh, that summer dental conference"
  5. Further to my exploration of AI lyric generators last night, I rather think I'm going to use one to write something. A lot of the music I like has quite elliptical lyrics, so taking the output of the machine and massaging the words into something a little less direct has been quite rewarding. Certainly a good way of kicking off the process and getting the cerebral juices oozing away.
  6. This. I think if I grokked the contents of the 'Top40', then pop culture would have broken in a way that would disappoint me terribly. I stick Radio1 on sometimes... and the feeling of confusion is exquisite
  7. I've just been playing around with some AI lyric generators. I rather think they do a better job than I do
  8. Yes, well-said ! I have an older-model V4B and it's just lovely to have the quiet.
  9. There is something just right about the Ampeg EQ. Lovely bit of kit 👍
  10. I couldn't get on with the Fortress I had for a while either - I found the way it sat on me a bit weird too. I also wasn't enamored with the sound either, but I think that's my taste rather than a problem with the bass. Beautiful bass, just not right for me.
  11. Aaaah, is it missing the baseplate ?
  12. Yes, most likely, but let's let the OP come back and let us know their thoughts and maybe we can offer some considered advice.
  13. No, the nut should sit neatly in the slot, not have a gap underneath. What bass are you working on ?
  14. A dozen wheels on the Sci-Fi truck When Georgie P tested his luck As we saw him bravely sally Into the Damnation Alley
  15. It's just a typo Just a slip The thrust remains Within the frame
  16. Jacob used four strings, John Wayne had a six-gun Use what comes to hand - you'll still have your fun. Ben-Hur rode two wheels, George Peppard had twelve Don't worry about the others, you just do yourself.
