1.
I thought the 'top hat' sockets on PA speakers were all the same size, but obviously not.
Nope. Bluearan do various top hats and adaptors, in different lengths & diameters.
 2. I use a Yamaha EMX512 powered mixer on small gigs - pubs, small-ish halls etc - with one of its power amps feeding the FOH speakers, and the other driving a couple of wedge monitors. The Yamaha EMX stuff is great IMO - very usable effects (touch of reverb...), dead easy/quick to set up, and sounds great. Got mine from Gumtree for 200 quid. FOH speakers are also Yamaha - 100 quid from ebay, can't recall the model. (I've never used a Yamaha product that's disappointed) Monitors also came cheap from ebay - intended only as a stopgap, but they sound good enough that I've not yet felt the need to replace 'em. All speakers are 8 Ohm - that way, I can run 2 on each of the EMX's outputs. Cheap 'n' chearful, but it really does sound better than OK.
 3.
Firstly I've never been a fan of surround sound. Stick to 2 decent speakers.. You can't go wrong.
So it's not just me then!
 4.
Yup, mate, you's missen sum'ten. Note the difference between MiBass 550 and Little Bastard 550, see.
Ah - right...now, where'd I put my glasses...?
 5. I think that'd work, although I don't know either of those amps. However... ...I'm probably missing something, but I'm struggling the think what you're trying to achieve. If the MiBass 550 has the same pre as the LB, wouldn't you just end up with the same thing but with 2 boxes, and only using half of each ?
 6.
Re option below, pls explain: does this mean run two daisy - chained speakers (second speaker run off the back of first speaker?) from ONE speaker output and then use the SECOND speaker output to run a stage monitor?? I'm confused...
Yup - that's exactly what we do on small pub gigs etc. where only vox is going through the PA - sometimes a bit of kick too. Yamaha EMX powered mixer (fantastic little box, btw) has 2 power amps with a speaker output each, and can be run in 2 different configurations. Either use each amp to drive each side of the FOH. Or...as described above - use one amp to drive the FOH (output from one amp into one PA cab, link from that to the other FOH cab) and the other amp drives a couple of wedge monitors. Has separate EQ and volume for each amp, so we're not stuck with the same EQ & volume going to the monitors as goes to FOH. A very basic setup, but it's dead easy (and quick) to connect it all up, and sounds great.
 7. Mmm...could be interested in one if you decide to split 'em.
 8.
Hartke LH500 into three Aguilar GS112 cabs,

They're 8 Ohm cabs, are they not? How d'ya hook 'em up without going below 4 Ohm load - or does the LH500 not mind ?

My mistake! I have an LH1000 to use with three cabs,
Ah - right...that sounds far less of an accident waiting to happen !
 9.
Do these massive arena shows ever sound any good?
In my opinion...no.
 10. Pretty damned good last night, all things considered. First time out with the new lineup, in the back garden of a local pub - new drummer, and new lead vox...literally - she'd never sung in front of an audience before! A few bum notes, mostly (on my part, at least) due to paying too much attention to the new vox and waiting for her pleading "gimme a cue" look. That's my excuse, anyhow ! Still, a good turn out, all bopping about and drinking plenty = a happy landlord, and a repeat booking for the autumn
 11. majelectronic.co.uk perhaps?
 12.
My issue with some corporate gigs is simply that you get treated really badly. Arrive early, get bossed around by an organiser who is, way too often, out of his/her depth, little understanding of simple stuff
Sounds like a normal day at work.

 14.
I tried using 12" drivers, but they couldn't see over the dashboard or reach the pedals so I went back to the normal size. Well someone had to say it ...
There's a gag inthere somewher, about a 12 inch pianist...but it's getting late, and I've had a cracking rehearsal and a few beers. G'night...
 15. £0.125/W, going up to £0.175/ W taking into account the £20 that the repair cost me.
 16.
If this was me I'd be either collecting in person or cancelling the deal.
Me too. Booking the courier takes 2 minutes online. The seller still has to do everyting else.
 17.
Hi, ive recently bought a used ibanez sr300 and I need to adjust the truss rod. What size allen key do I need?
No idea what size you need. I'd just get down to my nearest Tesco/Halfords/whatever and get a set going from 1.5mm upwards. It'll only cost you a couple of quid, and you'll have every size you're likely to need.
 18. Hartke LH500 - Barefaced Compact. Sorted.
 19.
The problem I encounter is that I like to check out BC on my tablet, but the soundcloud links won't work on that device. I hardly ever use my laptop at home anymore and won't spend more than a couple of minutes here during work hours for obvious reasons. Maybe my problem is rare but as more and more people are using portable devices to go online I think it is worth thinking about how content is shared on these forums with the limitations of these devices in mind.
That's pretty much it for me too.
 20.
last audition i did, i picked a handful off their current list , some i knew so i picked those, the band leader specified 2
That's what almost happened at the last audition I didn't do. Replied to an advert, spoke to the guy at length on the 'phone, then drove almost an hour for a general natter over coffee & cakes. All seemed OK. The distance wasn't an issue for me, and I was the one who'd be doing all the travelling. Got an email a few days later, along the lines of "here's a typical set list - we'll do these 2, and pick another 2 or 3 yourself". Then a proposed date - rehearsal space booked in the afternoon - is that OK? Yup - fine. So I learned the stuff, booked the day off work, blah blah...all looking good. Got a text the morning of the audition - "sorry mate, but we're really looking for someone local". Grrr!
 21. Big hand to everyone involved - what a great way to spend an afternoon !
 22. + another 1 If you're happy with the sound, just get it fixed.
 23.
That a 220 head?
I think it is, and a 404 underneath it I believe. That was gigging rig for many years, until the 220 went up in smoke, literally, during a gig. Hope the same doesn't happen to yours! My old 404's still going strong with another BC'er AFAIK.
