  1. "spent" says you, "invested" says I.
  2. Yes, downstreaming can be contentious for the elderly, even if they’re not as confused as Nigel.
  3. Sly and the Family Stone.
  4. Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention do collaborations count e.g. Metallica and the SFSO?
  5. Metallica used to be Dave Mustaine’s backing band. 😉
  6. There is NOTHING I would change about this track!! Love it.
  7. Been on my p bass for roughly 2 months and lightly used. these are 40 to 100, and about the same tension as my usual 45 to 105 rounds. great sounding, and not even properly worn in, but I’m going back to tapes on this bass. Traded for a set of tape wounds.
  8. I just think it looks tacky.
  9. My bitsa fretless Jazz. 2 piece ash body, maple neck, rosewood board. mmmmmmmmm
  10. Well…
  11. Why does it hurt when I pee? - Frank Zappa
  12. Have you tried North West guitars? They’ve got loads of this kind of stuff. https://www.northwestguitars.co.uk/blend-pot-250k-split-shaft/
  13. Gave up sigs twenty years ago. some of them were indeed ‘monsters’, and occasionally I think about starting again, but it’s prohibitively expensive these days.

    SVP 11

I've had both - the SVP II is a wonderful preamp, but it won't do dirt. The SVP PRO definitely WILL do filth. Both have the ultra low/high and bass, mid(s) and treble controls with line and DI outs, and the switchable graphic equaliser channel, but the SVP PROs have always been a bit noisy on the preamp outputs, whereas the SVP II was lovely and quiet.
  16. Not just a bass preamp/DI either; works great for guitars of any stripe.
  17. I find these are MUCH more useful than the BDDI pedals.

    Ampeg SVP

One of the best bass rounds I ever had was a 70's Ric into an SVP through a power amp and into a 4x10 cabinet. I need another lie-down just thinking about it!
  19. Also the Huge capacitors in there will store voltage (in lethal amounts) for ages. Unless you know how to properly discharge the stored voltage in those caps then get you it to a pro.
  20. I’m having the same dilemma over my fretless precision.
  21. You’d have to be going at a fair rate of knots to move a TE combo!
  22. The perfect half-way point between a Mutron III and a Lovetone Meatball!
