1. My cab's on castors and standing on a small, hollow stage. I went for the alternative option of filling the cavity under the stage with old duvets etc... it worked for my drummer
2.
You can't beat a nice defined bottom end...... WELL... someone had to do it
I beg to differ, that's one of the better things to do with said bottom...
3.
Zappa clearly had his head screwed on
Amen brother!
4. Absolution is IMHO the best thing they ever did.
5. Hey Doddy, when did you get back?
6. My iPad is crying out for it's own version of this. I really like the idea of being able to watch the videos related to the article.
7. I hate them all, the filthy salivating dogs!
8. It's all gone a bit quiet lately. No more interest?
9. two things will help here - kindly direct your frontman's attention to the BC 'Bad Jokes' thread (that way they'll NEVER be short of material), and secondly - electric shock therapy for the guitarist. This may include running ample amounts of current through the tuners of his 'axe' - he'll soon stop fiddling with them. Or at least it worked with our old drummer; cured him of his habitual masturbating.
10. The 421 clips are a complete 'fail' item. They're flimsy and easy to mistakenly unclip, sending your lovely, expensive microphone bouncing off the drum head (or worse, onto the floor). Rubber band or cable ties would do it at a pinch, but I've never had one broken so I wouldn't know
11. Listing ended without any bids - I'm shocked.
12. from a theoretical standpoint I'd get all of the chord changes and tones under your fingers. It may not yield the best results but you'll have an unshakeable grasp of the tune. Also this is a transferable skill to every other tune you may want to play.
13. Punk was/is absolutely necessary. As is Jazz, Hip Hop, Rock etc etc... it's all good.
14. Help!
15.
I think you need at least five years dentistry vocational training and then a couple of years general practice experience. ...I'll get me white coat.
Or some chloroform and a nice cotton hankie
16. Looks like his tele has caught some sort of infection, best get some penicillin on that bad boy before it's too late.
17. another +1 for the Bass Improviser's Method by Chuck Sher - a great book with loads and loads of stuff to go back to time and time again. Looks like I'll be investing in the Levine book too, though I think we have it in the library at work. The Samuel Adler is a brilliant book, my first port of call when arranging for larger ensembles - essential reading.
18. You pay the bills with the first five frets, anything else is a bonus.
19. A Blade 5 string Jazz-a-like and a home made Fretless Jazz clone. Both chuffing lovely.
20. That's my dream bass, as it's as old as me, but not in a position to buy at the moment. Best of luck with the sale though, that's a beautiful instrument.
21. I've had a bit of a mad run of selling, buying and trading stuff on here of late. Never had any problems with anything on BC, we're all just brilliant lovely people who look after our gear. And then sell it on. Don't forget to donate to keep the site running.
22.
I'd give SFX a look and Tech-21 Bass XXL. MXR blow torch on the fuzz side is also quite nice, as is a turbo rat which you can grab pretty cheap
Another +1 for the XXL. The 'Warp' control is your friend!
23. Seems a bit pricey for a pdf. The "AB guide to Music Theory" retails for about a fiver, and that's printed. Great idea though.
24. Should that not be "1000W power amp with built in Sansamp"? I've got roughly the same setup - BDDI into an Ampeg 1550. It did not cost $2500...
25.
All you need to know for gigging is that it takes annoying [s]hiss [/s] hum away.
Fixed.
