1. Chances are it's a cracky pot. Some witch-cleaner from Maplins (or similar) should sort it out. Failing that a replacement part is less than a fiver. anything else I'd take it to a recommended amp tech - there's a couple of local ones on pinned somewhere on this site (can't remember exactly where though). HTH
2.
I am also after soundchips for my bass pedals and would be grateful for any please Dave
Would be happy to oblige. What format and where? Cheers, Paul P.S. we need to talk about a VT-1 EQ pedal with a custom finish...
3. Welcome to the club. There's a few of us from Lancashire on here (I'm from Blackburn originally). Maybe we should have our own sub-forum full of cobbled pedalboards, Thwaites bitter and flat vowel sounds?
4. Don't think I'll have the time. I'm in pre-production with an artist, auditioning for (another) band and trying to finish my solo stuff. TBH I'm not really sure this sort of thing is for me - I'm a bit grumpy at the minute and shouldn't really be around people.
5.
... and just ordered from Amazon as an mp3 download
...and currently listening after downloading from iTunes an hour ago.
6.
Not quite the same but I have a VT-1 EQ- drive, which has the same stuff as the drive but lots more too. I bought it to 'dirty up' the tone out of a D class digi amp, which I guess is what you want to do. It does it very well and produces a good variety of drive from just a bit of boost to well over-driven boost. I am impressed with it and it does exactly what I want from it and some other stuff besides.....
DO you have any sound samples of this little beauty, as there aren't any on the DHA website? I'm currently loving the DHA DI EQ, but want a bit more dirt to the desk, maybe this is the one.
7. also - dude should have maybe washed his hands before broadcasting images of them worldwide. Try to maintain at least some standards, dearheart.
8.
Darkglass b3k. you get (more than) what you pay for. Seriously. http://darkglasselectronics.com/products/microtubes-b3k/ refund available too..
Yowsers! that's a GREAT pedal. Anyone want to buy a kidney? It's had a fair bit of abuse, but still works.

Delay!

Every guitarist I've ever worked with has had a built-in delay function - they get the joke 6 seconds after everyone else... which is odd, because when they play they're always racing ahead. Go figure.
10.
Scratchplate - well either black or tort will set the bass off nicely, in my opinion.
In full agreement with Lozz here; I've got a bitsa P bass in the same colour with a tort scratchplate - it's the balls. Modding a bass is a great way to learn about how everything works, and can be very beneficial, but if you already love the bass then what needs changing? Is it simply an experiment (in which case try it with a less-favoured bass) or do you have a sound in mind that this bass isn't currently providing?
11. Lighten up fellas! I've just had a skim through this, and quite liked it. Granted, RHCP aren't the band that we started out with, but neither are Metallica, the Rolling Stones, the Smashing Pumpkins, Take That, U2, The Who, R.E.M., Jamiroquai, Green Day, AC/DC etc... but you know what, people and bands change and evolve. RHCP have obviously moved on from "Mother's Milk", but if that's your preferred "era" then why not just listen to that album or others like it? We can't ( and shouldn't) expect musicians to live in a little plastic bubble and make the same album every three years or so, surely that's a bit too possessive? Sorry to have a bit of a rant, but we have all developed as writers/players in the last 20 years, and we've probably all listened to our early stuff and thought "what were we thinking?" why should the Chillis be any different - they're just people, the same as us, trying to find an appropriate musical outlet through which to channel our experiences. If you don't like it then vote with your wallet and don't buy it. Why do we need a thread that pillories an album before it's even been released?
12.
The new ones are crap. The old ones, when they were painstakingly smelted by the hands of wizened craftsmen who only used steel unearthed by their own bare hands, sustained longer, had purer tone and made you more attractive to the opposite sex.
I touched one once and it cured my scrofula!

Bass DI

Just took delivery of my Dave Hall DI EQ pedal today. Seriously good little box, highly recommended.
14. Bought a DHA EQ DI from James. Arrived safe and sound and quickly. killer piece of kit too.
15. I bought an Ampeg power amp from Gary a while ago, which is brilliant. He's since done all the running around chasing Parcelfarce for compensation when they damaged the flightcase. Gary is an all round good egg, and I have no hesitation in recommending him as a BCer to deal with.
16. What about the H&S issues here. You should have warned people that they "may contain nuts". Can't be too careful.
17. I reckon you'd get more "mojo" to your sound if you move the reel to reel machine forward a bit. And everything else back a bit... Track sounds great though, nice "mash up".

19.
I started with this I switched the neck to a 62RI. I've since changed the pickup, addded the ashtrays, changed the nut, replaced the pickguard....
Surely that makes it closer to your second bass than your first?
20. I'd say do it. I quite like the look of them, and may just put one on my fretless P. I couldn't really put one on my J as I play up that end quite a bit. also - satin sheets? do you work in a brothel?

22. Just got back from Chicken-sitting at my brother's, and my Gravity Picks were waiting for me when I opened the front door. Once again Mel delivers outstanding service and products - a highly recommended BC'er
23. I'd probably have bought a Jazz / Jazz derivative first off and then never bothered buying any more basses. When I started playing I had a good job with lots of overtime and lived with my parents. I used to think that Fender / traditional basses were for old men. This was something of an error on my part. I'd probably have bought an all valve Ampeg rig too, before the build quality nose-dived.
