1.
I use them to whip students who can't spell properly. Sometimes I'll flagellate the ones with bad punctuation too, but only if I'm feeling really cantankerous.
Yup, I'm quite happy with the BSY600 (Boss SYB-5 synth bass pedal clone). Makes the squelchy/farty/synth noise that I want it to and for the amount I use it (one drone note per set) it's a no-brainer. It is however, held together with soup.
3. Does it have any artificial plates or limbs?
4. I used one a while ago and found it actually rather good. as above, would have preferred a tap tempo function, but for making wobb;y noises whilst playing bass chords it did the job. HTH.
5. I've got a lot of love for the 3 Leaf Groove Regulator. really simple to work, but a very versatile pedal.
6. With power supplies for Dave's stuff I've found that older 'transformer' types do a much cleaner job than modern 'switched mode' (smaller and cheaper) ones as they're a bit noisy. My dha VT2 I'm using an old 12v supply from a flat screen monitor (as it's centre positive) and the pedal is dead quiet. Happy days.
7. It bugs me when people ask me to play some 'funky bass bit' in the middle of a song that just isn't funky. I suppose using 'funky' as an adjective to describe any prominent bassline hacks me off.
8. Brilliant video, thanks for posting. I want him in my band. Or I'll join his, not fussed which.

10. some good (bad) efforts so far, but what about these monstrosities? they're both at least a little bit bad, if not worse.

12. for sale: pocket rockit s1b - really handy for your gig / hand / colostomy bag etc... plug directly into your bass and comes with original headphones. at a push the ampeg / hartke emulators are good for recording directly too. shall we say £25 (or thereabouts) posted to mainland UK? cheers, Paul.
13. Hi all, I'm looking at replacing the neck on my Blade B15 with a Fender 5 string neck that I bought from here last month. The Fender will fit into the neck cavity, but is about 1 inch longer. I'm planning to move the bridge back enough to get the intonation right and then benefit from the extended fingerboard and scale length (certainly on the Low . That's the theory anyway.- Anything I should be aware of before I commit to the work? I'm having a luthier friend look over everything this week, but I'd rather go in there with a bit more knowledge than I currently have. Cheers, Paul.
14. Thanks BOD2, I'm using unbalanced 1/4" leads (the SVP Pre outputs are unbalanced). I've spoken to the guys at Panic Music in Cambridgeshire (UK's only authorised Ampeg repair shop) and they seem to think that the problem is down to inductance between the two transformers as they currently sit on top of each other in a big rack unit. They recommended that I place the power amp 2 feet away from the pre and see what happens. I might look at some sort of shielding, now, where did I put those spare "Batfink" wings?
15. Hi Tony, already got one. Really useful little unit, but I need something that doesn't colour the sound too much.
16. Sorted now thanks, plumped for the EHX in the end, as it's tiny wee. The SFX stuff looks really good though, bit over my budget at the moment.
17. I bought one of these when they first came out and they cost less than that brand new. Best of British mate.
18. I've just fitted an East J-Retro to my Blade 5 string (I know, awesome!) and now want a headphone amp for private practice that delivers just the sound of my bass to a pair of headphones. I've got a couple of little ones at the moment, but they've all got 'amp simulators' on them. I'd just like to hear the output of the bass and/or pedalboard. Ideally a 9volter that can run on mains and batteries, and the smaller (and cheaper) the better. Any suggestions? Cheers, Paul
19.
Think of all the scratches on the back, lying on rough ground like that.
Least of his worries. That. Is. sh*t.
20. Yup, dead quiet. The problem is at the Pre end somewhere. It's all coming from the same ring in the building (4 way extension for both ams and the pedal board) so I reckon I should have a pretty quiet setup.
21. Cheers for that guys - I'm not touching anything yet. Upon further inspection I'm still getting some signal through even with the master volume on the Pre down fully, which to me says the fault might be with the pot (assuming it's working as a simple voltage divider). Hopefully thats it, as it's much easier to fix.
22. Just bought a Russian reissue Muff from Dave. Uber quick service and great comms throughout. Lovely guy to deal with, buy / trade with confidence.
23. don't have any crank arms, but can pay cash for your mammoth clone if it's still for sale. PM'ed
24. Hi All, I'm currently running a separate pre and power amp and am experiencing some earth noise. Is there anything to be gained from unwiring the earth on one of the mains plugs and using a suitable piece of insulated wire between the two earth points (little screws) on the backs of the amps? any advice would be appreciated.
