1.
No visible grain so I guess its Ebanol
Yup, just been looking online and mine's Ebanol too. These things sound incredible on any bass - mine's on an AXL Jazz bass copy with inexpensive PUPS and a cheap Artec pre. Best sounding (and playing) fretless I've ever had. If I didn't need a fretted bass for my classic rock covers band then I'd have had this for a second fretless bass.
2. send it here: http://www.guitarrelics.co.uk/telecaster-basss.php You've already got a head start, so it could work out quite cheap...
3. Withdrawn
4.
How civilised
Not without cake...
5. If it's mounted on a printed circuit board then I'd recommend (insist is closer) a temperature controlled iron and some desolder braid. I've used desoldering pumps on PCBs before, but what you want to do here is avoid melting the copper tracks on the board. The trick is to get the iron hot enough to melt the solder, but cool enough to leave the PCB undamaged. I've found braid more successful for this. Top tip No1 though is that when you're removing solder from a board apply a little bit more solder to the joint as this helps the other stuff melt easier, and you're less likely to damage the board.
6. Oh my. GAS attack
7. We've had a few 'Jazz posts' on here, is it something like that?
8. Aluminium Teck Picks - nice and edgy.
9. Love these pedals - great 'all rounder' of dirt.
10. should have just bought him a choc ice.
11. Just bought an Artec SE2A from Stu. Arrived quickly and well packaged. Good do!
12.
It's confusing as you can get the Drumkit from Hell EZX for EZDrummer...
Yes, but it's also great. I tend to run 2 instances of EZ Drummer in most projects - Vintage Rock for Snare, kick and hats and Drumkit From Hell for all the cymbals and extended range of toms. It takes a bit of work to get the two to sound like one kit but it's worth it. EZ Drummer is brilliant. I've also used BFD but I found the graphical interface to be a real nightmare to use compared to EZ drummer.
13.
I've just been through a mass of distortion pedals, only to realise that it is a fuzz pedal on a lower gain setting, mixed with a clean signal that I'm looking for. There's a "broken glass" quality in the high end (even without a tweeter) that is not to my taste with distortion pedals,
Ditto. I went through about a dozen last year and ended up going back to a Russian Muff. Replaced the 2nd pair of clipping diodes for a pair of germaniums and finally got 'my sound'. Kind of back where I started... ...it was fun finding out though!
14.
I like to use Nitrocellulose but youl need a decent respirator.
Can I not just hold my breath?
15. [thread hijack] what are the best type of spray paints to use on bodies? I fancy a white/tort number...[/thread hijack]
16. I've got one of those necks on my fretless. Feckin loverly.
17. DHA VT1 EQ for me, I've dropped the overdrive in mine by replacing the 12AX7 for a 12AU7, but other than that, that's pretty much 'my sound' these days. Nice clean DI and a very flexible EQ section coupled with a warm (but not woolly) smooth valve tone or some grit when you need it. Ticks all of my boxes anyway.
18. http://www.davehallamps.co.uk/page29.html brilliant valve pre/overdrive with a line in and headphone out too. It's my main DI and practice tool.
19. Alles Gute, schön Bassgitarre.
20.
Thanks to all of you :-))) I forgot to mention the scale: It is a comfortable 34' !!
34' scale length; might be a bit of a stretch for me. 'tis a beauty though.

SOLD

Nice looking bass that. Surprised it's not gone already.
22. I've just put a pair of these http://www.guitarfetish.com/GFS-JB-Pro-Jazz-Bass-Style-Alnico-Pickups_p_318.html in my fretless. it's a maple neck, alder (i think) body with a cheap Artec SE2a pre on board and I could not be happier with the sound - it's still warm but with lots of presence. It's got the potential for a really cutting lead bass sound too.
23. Shim that neck - it's like lowering the action on just the dusty end. Seriously though, I'd recommend getting your technique looked at by a bass tutor. It'll probably just need the one lesson and will save you loads in physiotherapy bills later on.
24. I was going to suggest "London Calling" by theClash... getting Parka.
25.
Well done mate. Get it on Bandcamp Get your codes. Join the PRS and register with PPL Put some video on YouTube Talk about it on Facebook Don't overdo it with Facebook or you'll piss some people off and it will have a negative effect, gentle feeding and watering is the way. Gig gig gig gig gig gig gig, sell albums at gigs, approach people at the gigs and talk to them, ask their opinions, standing at the little trestle table at the back is not much use. Best of luck!
all of the above. And then gig a bit more.
