    I’m currently rocking a hen 1 Compact and am curious as to how much of a difference a midget would make. I love the sound of the Compact but part of me thinks ‘what if...’

    Get 500k push/pull pots so that there aren’t any more physical controls on the bass, just pull the knob upwards and tap the coil!

    Yes, but if you bought humbuckers that can be coil tapped them you’d have ‘Jazz bass’ covered too by running them as single coils. 👍🏻

    Not sure about the ‘poor relations’ moniker; every band I’ve been in has had a ‘weird uncle who smells a bit and keeps goats’ experience from me. They’ve been bloody lucky to have it too!

    Is it noticeably louder when using just one pickup? If this is the case then one of the pickups is probably out of phase with the other.

    I had a B Bass V (5 string version of this) for years and loved it; gigged it up and down the country and it never let me down. Great piece of kit!

    Had an SX Jazz years ago that was brilliant. Squier VM are worth scoping out too.
