Oc2 ->coloursound bass fuzz -> Lovetone meatball -> Butler tube drive -> EHX Small clone and Small stone. That’s pretty much my current ‘meat and potatoes’ layout., but currently it’s got a couple of other bits thrown in just for fun. Being able to build effects pedals has its advantages!

Pretty good. Played at an open mic/Jam night as part of the house band. Busked my way through a good few songs that I've not played before, but with musicians that I knew, so it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Didn't take an amp, so was reliant on the house PA; I reckon next time I'll take a feed from the mixer into a set of IEMs.

It's not as bad as you think - get the right solder (rosin core) and a clean iron set to the right temperature and once you've got one done the ret should follow suit.

I thought I didn’t care what my instruments look like until I realise my main two are almost identical, so I think I have a type. Condition is less important to me than how it plays and feels. All of my kit is old and battered but I know it quite literally inside out and know exactly how it will respond to my sausage fingers, so it has that going for it.

Nice tidy example of a great machine. The RAM is indeed updatable and doesn't require any specialist tools or indeed any experience, just a small enough screwdriver to get the base plate off. This model will take 16GB, but the BIG improvement to these machines is installing a solid state dive, which you've already done. I have an identical machine on my lap right now! -
Back in the 90s I played with some bands that were almost exclusively keyboard and drums - 5 string basses made it MUCH easier to play in 'flat keys' that they favoured.
