Looking to move this on it's a Squier JV P bass from around 1984, it plays and sounds great and appears original with the exception of the control knobs/extra pot, a couple of replaced screws and a Seymour Duncan Basslines Jazz pickup at the bridge. The neck is lovely with a nice amber vintage patina to the laquer. There are dings and scuffs but nothing nasty, the electrics are fine and there is play on the trussrod. The neckplate is stamped with the JV serial. It has a lovely tobacco sunburst and off white scratchplate, no case included. JV prices are going crazy for totally original basses so I guess with the extra pickup this isn't a collector's piece but a proper player's bass, gone please remove!
Bolt on Shaftesbury. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1980s-Shaftsbury-Bas...=item3f0b654612
A quick disappearance eh? Didn't think Shaftesbury's ever did a bolt on, probably an Aria or a ply Hondo - although the Rickenwaffe were in so quick I didn't get to see it!
Ash, what counts as an "interesting trade"?
Quality basses, analog synths, was after a Markbass extension cab but that's not really needed now, don't need any amps. 6 string basses? Certainly no cheapies! This bass is worth a lot in terms of rarity, craftsmanship and playability but I guess my price indicates its 'niche' appeal (current JB Rick types will set you back 1400 pounds!).
Really nice light 1977 Fender Precision In very good condition, sounds and plays great with no issues. All original to the best of my knowledge, I have not dismantled to verify all component dates but inspection is welcome before purchase. Weighs 8lbs 4 oz on my digital scales, the dark line on the back of the body is in the wood grain. I will include a generic non Fender case as I don't have the original, and I'm afraid it has the chrome bridge cover only. I am looking for £1350 collection preferred from Preston lancs, or I could deliver within reason. Sorry guys, but the only trades acceptable would be on pre CBS Fender basses with cash adjustment from me
Ohno...couldn't tempt you for a part trade on my 84' JV Squier maple neck 57 P bass??? Oh well.....
I've just been offered one of the 500/3? in straight swap for the Aerodyne Jazz I'm selling. Apparently early 60's in good nick. Have I dropped a clanger here? Karl. Edited, found it, linky below, comments chaps please? http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/hofner-s...-1960s/81197689
The chap who's selling this approached me about a swap for my John Birch Rickenfaker - I did a bit of research and this has been around for ages in various sales/swaps forums, its not a particularly desirable bass and they tend to go for the 300 quid mark and that is all original excellent condition. The chap was friendly enough however (until I mentioned cash to balance the value) and I think genuine - he probably thought it was the model associated with Stuart Sutcliffe. I wouldn't bother as your Jazz would fetch far more - swap you for my JB plus cash!
There's a bid on it now too. Someone's going to get seriously stung...
Once again I'm wondering why they pulled my John Birch Faker and not this? I described it as a UK made bass and there was no reference to the R word, mine got pulled and to cap it all I got barred from selling on Ebay temporarily, I also got a flea in my email from John Hall about how I was breaching intellectual copyright! I wasn't trying to con anybody into believing it was a Rick and if anyone's seen my JB it isn't an overt copy - I'd say 'inspired' by the Rick shape.... -
Not sure what this is. Not sure it appeals to me either.
Looks like Ibby pups but I don't recall Ibanez doing a bolt-on neck. Bassassin is sure the one to analyse this fella.
Yes Ibanez did do a bolt on. Oddly the pickups were more 'Ricklike' on that version than their more expensive - presumably earlier - through neck version which had a big Gibson EBO type neck pickup and a smaller one at the bridge. I've owned both versions and they are very nice basses in their own right. The pickups certainly look similar to my old bolt on but I've only ever seen the black finish on a through neck. Daft price for what it is if it is an Ibby certainly not up to the standards of a JB or a real Rick.
