Didnt a certain Mr Mark King use a Hayman Bass similar to this on the "Early Tapes" Album, before they got a deal with Polydor and gave John Diggins a bit of a lift?
I don't know about that but I know Rob Green (Status) and John Diggins had some connection with Shergold. Very versatile bass the Hayman 4040 the pickups can give a very Rickenbacker grunt with full treble and neck backed off but the neck has a real P bass punch.
 2.
This bass really reminds me of Shergold Marathons. Really cool!
Yes very true, the Marathons were very similar as was the Modulator bass. The early Marathons were actually made from rebadged Hayman parts. The MKI Marathon had routing under the scratchplate hidden by a large rectangular pickguard this was to house the 'vibrosonic chamber' that the Hayman 4040 pickups were mounted to!
 3. I had one of these, identical to this - got it off Ebay - very, very nice, to my regret I put it back on Evilbay when I got my EUB. Not my old one is it?
 4.
I watched this on ebay, went for a good price, have you done anything to renovate it?
Yes, cleaned it up, set the bridge and action. I touched up some areas where the lacquer had gone down to bare wood on the inside of the cutaways. I cleaned the electrics and resoldered some dry joints and resoldered the jack. Sounds great, the original seller said he thought the electrics were dead but they just needed work.
 5. This is a rare left-handed Hayman 4040 bass that I bought recently as a restoration project. I believe its original apart from a lost logo, replaced serial plate and some typical lacquer cracking and paintwork that has been touched up in places. The electrics are all original and work as they should, the bass plays well (it's set up right-handed) and the neck is straight with little fretwear. The scratchplate is perspex with a black backing (painted?). The bass sounds superb! I'm looking for around 350 and I'm willing to post within the UK at buyer's expense. It's a great piece for any collector or player. PM me with any questions and I'll do my best. I'm selling because of a move to a smaller property. Hayman basses were made by the people who went on to form Shergold guitars and were an important part of UK instrument manufacturing history. We've all heard these ridiculous sob stories many times before don't waste our time and insult our intelligence. Cheers.
 6. Postage price for the UK only.
 7. Its now at 300 quid and postage will be extra, its a bargain for a proper old Tokai.
 8.
Bought this bass not long ago and fastastic though it is, its just not quite right for me. Would make a fanstastic slap-machine with the active/passive switch and low low action. Good all-rounder too really, its just not getting enough playing here. Hand-built by Paul MacNab in Huddersfield, who passed away in July (v. sad, I would have loved to have met him though I think 'Beneath it All' who I bought this bass from knew him). Built c. 2005 34" scale Mahogany body, quilted maple front, flame-maple neck with rosewood/bubinga/ebony inserts, wenge board with side dot markers. German Goldo pickups and active circuitry w. bass/treble cut/boost and passive pull/push switch on rear volume control Goldo bridge with string spacing adjustment Tuners by Schaller Very good condition but it is an instrument that has been played, in with accompanying minor marks. These are the photos from the original sale as it was picked up by me, not posted and has only been used for band practice when the lads have come over to mine. £400. Happy to deliver.
The two shots of the headstock show different styles of machinehead, is it the same bass headstock and have the tuners been changed? Nice bass by the way.
 9.
AH150, superb amp and one of the first no compromise Trace amps, really out performs most of their following models, used mine for years and it never let me down, good luck with the sale.
Yep superb but I need the space!
 10.
Money is a little tight at the moment, so im struggling to find free cash to buy a replacement cab to go with my markbass head.... sooo i am looking to downgrade and trade this head prefferably for an amp and cab or a combo. Don't need to say much about the amp i dont think, reputation speaks for itself! Great amp, but dont think i can really afford to keep it Trade wise, don't really have a preference, can't really add any cash to a deal and dont particularly want to receive cash either, straight trade preferrable Particularly interested in Trace Elliot, Marshall and other similarly priced gear. Amp is pictured in my avatar. This is just a feeler really, i am by no means desperate to trade as i love the thing and if i can find the cash for a cab i wont be selling No cash unless i see something else i want on the forum, so please do not offer! Il give the amp a trade value of £350-£400, seems to cover the range they sell for
trade for my trace rig - advertised on this forum plus cash from my side?
 11. I'm selling my trusty Trace Elliot half stack as I no longer use it and am moving house soon. The amp is a very early Trace GP150 dating from the early 80s. This is the 'no frills' simple 7 band graphic and preshape version, built like a tank pumping out 150 HUGE watts of Great British tone. Uber reliable it is in good condition albeit with minor scuffs and a bit of scratchiness to the pots. The graphic eq caps were clipped off about a decade ago but work fine. The cab is a later carpet covered 1153 compact cab, kevlar coated speaker not abused and in superb cosmetic and working condition. A great Trace stack that will fill any pub or club. Surprisingly portable too. I'm asking 250 but don't be afraid to PM me an offer. I need to shift this quick so come and have a look! 12.
I've got gas for a new bass so this little beauty is now reduced for a quick sale.. I will not post out this bass because of the hassles mentioned above. BUT, if you want to send me a hard case or I can buy one locally and you can arrange collection that would be fine.
OK seen your recent changes to this post. PM sent.
 13.
BUMP. The bass I was selling this to buy has sold to someone else. Grr. Still, this is for sale now I've made the decision. But I'm open to trades for microphones, or even an exciting bass.
I have a genuine Shure 'elvis' 55SH mic in superb condition if you are interested in a swapsie?

 20.
The two (or three)digits are the original price in yen. I have seen 35, 40, 45, 50, 60, 70, 100, 125. The main differnces are electrics and wood flawlessness (izzat a wurd?)
Aaah, enlightenment...thanks for the info!
 21. Just to clarify it is a German one and yes I will post within the UK for 20GBP at this price I'm not including postage in the asking price. All I know about it is what I have put on this post. Thanks for all the interest - if you want it be quick!
 22.
I'd love to take it off your hands as it's a steal, but unfortunately I'm currently poorer than a peasant who's had his last penny pinched! Have a free bump. (Any future ones require payment)
Cheers for that!
 23.
Non standard scratch plate?
The scratchplate lines up with all the holes perfectly but as I said it was sprayed black by the previous owner - he said it was all original buts not as snug a fit as you would think, original colour of the plate was white which matches other Tokais of this era however.
 24. Next stop evilbay, can't believe no one is interested in this great bass, especially at this recession beating price!
