1. I just use my tone control and alter my rh position and pluck pressure for what I think the song needs. Occasionally use a mild drive for the extra mids.
2. My matamp gt200 will last me the rest of my life and I can't see me ever buying anything else. All valve is the way for my musical needs. Sure the valves need replacing every once in a while and maybe a few caps replaced but that's it. I've played it hard since 2009 and only had it recently revalved. Upgraded the kt88s to kt120s and I must say I'm smitten ❤ I've had several amps in the past that have fried after a couple of years use, markbass little mark (the original yellow one) and an old trace head.
3. I'd highly recommend gold moon mastering. Dude has golden ears and some incredible gear for the purpose. He's doing my bands new album. www.goldmoonmastering.com
4. I use an ikea mastermind style chair. Does the job comfortably, cost about £80 🤘
5. Yes they are great. I've used various sealed cabs for the last 7 or 8 years, namely the berg nv610 and a Matamp 610. Both great cabs with a nice valve amp.
6. This is stunning. If I had the readies they'd be heading your way. She looks mighty fine!
7. Two basses is enough for me. Main squeeze and a bit on the side as a backup. However I'd love another Matamp in white. In fact I'm trying to convince my band we all need them 👌😂
8. A1 seller, great comms, item exactly as described and delivered swiftly
9. This is stunning. If I had the cash it would be on it's way to you. Have a bump 👍
10. Used to have a black 78 ripper. Shouldn't of sold it, it was a diamond of a bass. Incredible neck on it and they just look fantastic.
11. Had a rehearsal last night so took both my p-basses expecting to try them both back to back.. Wow. Killer sound be damned. The 95 just stays in tune and kicks out a hugely satisfying roar. I think we clicked properly.. So much so that my 08 didn't come out of it's case all night! Delightful basses indeed! So many layers of sound and super responsive to playing position, the tone knob and technique. I tend to switch between pick and fingers and it sounds great either way.
12. Been digging hard looking for info on the 90s pbasses. I recently bought a USA 95/96 model which is really nice though the nut end seems less wide than my 2008, more jazz width. I think I prefer a chunkier neck. Any owners want to share their experiences/opinions?
13. Get some valves cooking and you won't look back. I've had a few class d amps but they either blew up or got sold. KT120s in the power stage for me. Super duper sound.
14. Ooh that's a beaut. Love that body shape.
15.
Not being flippant here, but that would be a '95 Fender American Standard Precision Bass pickup! As far as I know, they started putting the Custom Shop 62 pickup in from 2012, but before that it never had a special name. It's likely that the specs varied over the years too, I know 2008 era ones sound quite aggressive for example. I really like the one that came stock in my 2004, I did the usual pickup upgrade only to find I preferred the original!
Cheers mate!
16. Slightly off topic, but does anyone know what pickup is in a 95 us standard p-bass?
17. p-bass into Matamp gt200 & Matamp 610 via cali76tx and and a catalinbread sft
18. Thanks Dan, i may just snag one of those. Makes life easier. Thanks again 👍
19. Thanks gents, much appreciated... Yeah a board sounds like a better idea, even though the cab is a keeper. I can just take it off then as you said. Cheers Tim
20. Fellow bass brethren. I've got a Matamp 610 cab that weighs as much as the death star, and I've accidentally ripped two of its feet off. I need to stick some heavy duty castors on it which will take the weight and enable me to manoeuvre. It's extremely heavy but also extremely lovely sounding. Can anyone recommend some decent rubber castors to do the job? Ideally with not too large a diameter. Anyone done this mod to a cab and found the sound changes with it up on wheels? Cheers Tim
21.
TOM !! is it really You ?
Close lol...it's Tim
22. Welcome mate - Pontypridd boy here
23.
Day 8, morale was getting low. 3 days since food ran out, water rations only can't speak. Corruthers seems to have lost his mind, we had to lock him in the vocal booth to escape from his mad screaming. Squiffy has the worst blisters on his fingers I've ever seen. Is there no escape from the smell of sweat and the constant hell hammer of the kick drum ?
Lol That's actually pretty close! Ha
24. I have been busy recording a live album with my band. Doing upwards of 40 takes of each track to capture the right version. No click tracks or overdubs. Anyways, one of these tunes features a nice slap riff for the chorus. I could of used my Spector which has a awesome clear as a bell slap tone, but I stuck with the pbass to keep the tone consistent throughout the recording. I quite like that 70s pbass slap tone even though there are more suitable basses for slapping.
