Yeah mine's without the trimpot as well, although i've never had an issue with the high output no matter what amp or device i've hooked it up to. These basses snarl. The emgs coupled with the woods, bridge and tonepump produce a sound that is as you say edgy. I slimmed down my collection of 3 basses to just my euro 4-lx a while back. I prefer to concentrate on one instrument and part of the fun is learning to fit sonically where I choose to in the music that I play and record. Spector nailed it when he said 'a bass for life' :-)

Any love for spector euro-lx models guys? Had mine for 8 years or so. A 4-lx. Brilliant basses. They don't do everything but have a sound unto their own. Pretty satisfied with the tonepump, never really missed the mid control of say an emg circuit as there's plenty of natural bite with these basses anyway. I love mine anyway and it's always done an admirable job in the studio. Plenty of range between pups and the eq. Although intonationally speaking it seems slightly happier in e rather than drop d. I'd love to have a blast on an ns-2. Tim :-)
Good stuff this!! Not even a huge fan of the genre, but really enjoyed this! Reckon it would be a blast to see you guys live too. I live pretty local to you, so let me know when you guys are playing? Kert
Sweet!! I will let you know if we have any local shows then. Thanks for listening!
I like that. Good tune, great bass tone. I'd love to hear it without the soundcloud distortion at some point. Good work, fella.
thanks Dr J...much appreciated. I will get a copy to you soon as it's all ready :-)
That's superb mate, really good. Great bass sound too. I've almost worn out your first album from playing it in the car. Great stuff. As someone pointed out, its more like hardcore than metal which I actually prefer - much more fast and aggressive. Any more releases due soon ?
thanks butty, means a lot :-) long time no speak - hope you're well. If you want me to send you another copy of the first album just let me know, thats not a problem. Releasewise we're probably going to out a 3 track ep as an inbetweener while we're writing our second album. Deceiver will be on the ep. Free download and diy hardcopies will be available i expect. Nowt fancy really, just hoping to get some gigs off the back of it as we are really struggling to get shows as per usual :-)

Hehe nice one butty :-) pm me tho as im not on here much these days

Charic if you want to do that then its up to you...feel free to pm me your findings

Cheers Charic thanks for commenting. All vvery valid points and duly noted. Still working on the mix but having a few days off to reset my brain :-P Havn't tried it on cans yet but intend to shortly. My monitors are just jumped up pc speakers at the mo lol. Cheers Tim

Cheers EH thanks for the comment :-) The drums are real, no replacements or vsti. Yes it will need mastering, and yeah there's defo a hardcore vibe running through this tune. Soundcloud does mess with the sound a bit unfortunately. Buggers! Cheers Tim

Hi lovely people of the fair land of basschat Here's a new tune from my band Argonaut. All recorded and mixed by yours truly. It's almost finished now, just a few minor tweaks to the mix to be done... http://www.soundcloud.com/argonautmusic

Torche - Harmonicraft An utter monster of blissfully stoned proportions -
Hi all Long time spector with rounds player here. Been using dr high beam 45- 105 for years. Wouldn't mind having a blast with some flats. I play a fretted euro lx with the tonepump circuit and emg p/j pups. Can anyone recommend a good set to buy? They need to be as flexible as possible ideally. Anyone got the same bass and tried flats with it? Cheers Tim

'Have a cup of tea, have another cup' I don't know why, but that line has stuck in my head all these years from my dad playing so much Gong when I was a kid.

Cracking song that. Well done! Mix is great for me at this end.

Cheers 51mOn, you're a leg-end. I'll be back at some point with more questions no doubt

Thank you to BC'ers for pointing me to John Martyn
Basszilla replied to Clarky's topic in General Discussion
A friend thankfully turned me on to John Martyn a couple of years back with the 'late night john' album. It's brilliant. Bought the album solid air after that, equally as nice. Beautiful basslines and songs. -
Thanks 51mOn that's a lot of help. It took a while and a bunch of research before I pulled the trigger on the livebook, but as you said, should hopefully save a bit of ar$ing about. Regarding my 16 track and previous recording experience, I've never used groups or made submixes, mainly through not knowing how to and not fully understanding them. I'd always just work the individual faders/eq until I was happy. I'd add some light compression to the master sometimes and occasionally i'd add some reverb/delay through to one or two channels but that's about it. So, I've used it in a pretty basic sense in that i'd have all the tracks recorded on the 16 tracks, and just mix from there. I read a post by you talking about groups/sub mixes and that sort of got me thinking, thinking that i've really got to get to know how to do all of this properly. Something else that has been bothering me. How do I visually monitor my input gain when recording a track, say bass? My interface doesn't have meters. I'm assuming the meters are on the software are they? I'm going to be bugging people on the reaper forum a lot I guess! Thanks
