Some years ago I had them do some routing on a Lakland Duck Dunn. They put in cut-outs for a bridge jazz pick-up, side jack and a rear battery box. Having explained what I wanted done they sent me a quote, I then sent them just the body and it came back perfect a couple of weeks later.

I've been using Sadowsky Flats. They are available 40-125 and 45-130. Made for them by LaBella. Not easily obtainable in the UK but I have bought several sets from this Polish Ebay seller without any problem. Just recently got hooked onto Spector having bought a Shorty. Just pulled the trigger on another, not a Shorty but short scale.

Good luck Owen, sounds like a worthwhile project. I have done something similar which I took to the SE Bash in September. My regular but occasional gig means that I can sit down so my idea was an active drum throne with the option of in-ear monitors. Firstly I picked up a used drum throne and then a butt-kicker from Thomann. I wanted to keep the electronics as compact as possible so looked for half-rack width units. I bought a 4U half width rack which is fitted with the following: 4-channel stereo mixer with channel direct outs - this takes the bass DI plus PA monitor or maybe just a mic on the kick drum In-ear transmitter which can also be used as a headphone driver for wired in-ears Sub-woofer filter to stop anything above about 200Hz going to the butt kicker Extron XPA1002 2-channel power amp - one channel for the butt kicker, one channel spare. I'm sure that Bluejay took a photo at the Bash but I'll take some pix later and add them if anyone is interested The signal path was a tad more complicated

I joined bassworld back in 2002 when there were less than 100 members. I've seen it morph through various incarnations. If you search though web archives there is a snapshot of what bassworld was like.

Here's my recently acquired Spector Shorty and my Westfield 24-inch scale Precision with a larger cousin.

Having recently changed to a Spector Shorty fretted bass I am now considering a short scale fretless. Does anyone have any experience of or played the Spector Carved Top NS2 CTB 4 Fretless? There is a demo video on the Bass Direct site but it's rather poor, the demo that is not the bass.

Patch cables - Which ones? Make my own or buy pre-made?
Good cables will last forever and OBBM (Dave) makes exceedingly good cables.
You're just too kind Chris. Now I'm going to have to change my Username to Mr Kipling. -
Cable keeps popping out of amp during gigs. Help!
obbm replied to vinorange's topic in General Discussion
Unfortunately the person in the shop that sold me the cable(for over $40.00Canadian) did not know this. Before I ordered the Planet Waves cable I emailed them and they assured me their plug works with active and silent and silent pickups and it does but I have also had issues with the jack coming loose in the combination socket (XLR and standard)of the Bose PA we use and it does not fit tightly in my amp.I solved the PA problem by going to a DI box and then XLR into the PA-problem solved for now but I guess I should change the amp end jack to simplify things.I just looked at the Neutrik site and couldn't find the information you refer to above-is it well hidden or am I missing something.
According to Wikipedia it's the plug diameter: https://en.m.wikiped...onnector_(audio)
According to Switchcraft it's the socket. I know who I believe. -
Cable keeps popping out of amp during gigs. Help!
obbm replied to vinorange's topic in General Discussion
I had tried a Neutrik silent plug cable but it does not work properly with active pickups which are on both of my instruments. The Planet Waves cable works with passive or active systems.I don't know if my Neutrik jack is faulty but it didn't work for me-the cable was new when I bought it so it should have been OK.I tried the Planet Waves cable in my amp and it does not fit as tightly as other standard jacks-who would have guessed.Maybe I should change the amp end of the cable.
Neutrik say on their web site that Silent jacks are not recommended for active instruments. This is because the ring connection in the jack is used to power the onboard pre-amp. As you insert the jack the pre-amp is powered and is charging its capacitors at the same time as the muting comes off resulting in noise through the amp. -
Cable keeps popping out of amp during gigs. Help!
obbm replied to vinorange's topic in General Discussion
It would appear that the term 1/4-inch (6.35mm) jack refers to the diameter of the hole in the socket. If you have a plug of the same size it is never going to fit so jack plugs have to have a diameter of less than 6.35mm. How much tolerance is down to individual manufacturers. -
I've never seen a jack being vibrated out of a jack socket!
It has been known to happen with sealed speaker cabs and the wrong type of socket but not with an amp. -
I have to ask - what bass is that at 25 inch - shorter than a Strat ??? I have a neck under 30 inch so am genuinely interested. :-)
It's a Westfield. They are no longer is business. With a set of shortened flats it sounds remarkably good as those who saw it at the SE Bash can testify.
