The body was made in '97 and the neck in '98. Fishy? No. The date on the neck heel is 1-19-98 and the date stamp in the neck pocket is Dec 16 1997. So although it looks like there is something's fishy if you just quote the years, in reality both components were made a few days apart.

    Ooh watch this beauty fly out the door. On the other hand as the bass is relatively new to you do you think it wise to get rid of the pup just yet? Originals are so hard to come by and selling w/out the original pup will affect your resale price. Just saying like.

Actually I wouldn't be surprised if the neck was a tad thinner than a standard Jazz neck - think Ibanez Soundgear. It felt very delicate in my big hands (this is from a guy now used to P and MM width necks) and had that fastness I like from this sized neck - it was begging for dusty end action. I couldn't hear the sound characteristics of the bass too well as there were a few others guys plonking basses near by too but what little I did hear clearly had bite. If I was in the market for one of these, I wouldn't hesitate. Me and the sb-2 at Moffat

    I smell pants on fire. Why would you take it to "several music stores" for appraisals when they all keep saying it's worth a grand. Surely even the most diligent seller would only need 2 separate valuations of the same price and just stop. Bah.
