1. I only had the chance to take 1 pic this time as I got too caught up in everything else going on today. It's the hilarious moment Peter realised that I wear my bass a little low. A massive thanks to Alan. I had a fecking blast, caught up with the usual suspects and met some top new guys too. Dave's new 3way is quite simply the badgers vag.... once you've got a bass with a full battery through it, Peter Best of all the new addition of Shaun & Craig (drums and guitar) who kicked in if you got a groove going trying something out. I really hope they will be permanent feature of future bashes. Best one yet. Roll on Mophatt IV !!
2. Me, Matt and Paul are here too.
3. Cheers. It's better in the flesh too, it's actually Surf Green but my camera doesn't do Surf Green.
also Rich, I think we may have to have a chat about how I would go about building these tpe of basses.
I'll look forward to it man.
4.
Just found the this thread! I'll most certainly be there for the full shindig. I'll have my Shuker 6 string and my terribly nice new ACG 5 string with me, both 33" scale. I'll also have my mini rig, MarkBass LittleMark 250 and Aguilar GS112, and a modded Dod 250 and Boss AW3. Man, that Sunday last year was one of the worst hangovers of 2009! I have every intention of behaving myself this time round, but as usual I can't make any promises... You wheren't complaining at the time Rich Wonder if the 3 of us will get the cottage again, that was a good laugh! See you all soon! Eude
Only coz you're a gentle lover. Yeah that would be great if we got a cottage again. Although for everyone's sake I should bagsy the single room this time - my snoring has gone up a level of seismic magnitude lately. You thought it was volcano dust keeping the planes on the ground? I'll be taking my new bass, which I finish building only today.
5. Good point. I think a lot of the problem is to do with drivers and the ones the have in Dundee just now (our nearest depot ) are a bunch of lazy twots. Of course it doesn't help when customer care fob you off with shyte and you know they know you know it's shyte.
6. Oh yeah it was UPS (edited original post) It must have been the fever that made me put DHL I hope it all goes well for you Matt but I've had it with interparcel - there's only so many times you can give them the benefit of the doubt.
7. I've always gone with Interparcel up to now who offer good insurance... but I've been getting increasingly hacked off with them (and UPS) for poor delivery times then not giving a flying feck about customer care like they used to. I'd go with Parcelmonkey if I were you.
8.
Nah, you missed the obvious - its not got period correct strap retainer buttons
Darnit! I really need too swot up on the classics and stop embarrassing myself like that.
9. Nope. I can't see it. Are there too many pg screw holes or something?
10. Wonder if they'd knock a couple of quid off because of the busted pickguard?
11. You're too kind Matt. You missed out the bit where despite the outer box being in perfect condish said crapweasle originally claimed that the damage must have happened during transit and that he offered you a tenner as compo.
12.
The latest response from the guy (I asked for the serial number)... "This is a genuine Geddy Lee C086833 which was customized by fender. Basically the G & L body would normally be black, it was changed for a jazz bass body as described in advert, by fender because a coloured body was required at the time for a video shoot and the black did not show up well."
Er nope. GLs do also come in 3TSB. Apart from him getting in a mucking fuddle between G&L and GL I think you should introduce him to the fact that the defining feature of a GL is the '70s bridge pup position.
13. Ah bad news man. I traded it. (I need to update my gear on that page) I'll take my Shuker '51 for you to drool over though. It's kind of the same but better in every respect.
14. We usually keep our gear with us in our rooms and sort of filter over to the theatre after breakfast to set our gear up. I'm not sure how we're doing it if there's gonna be a band/jam set up on the main stage but I'm sure all will be revealed on Saturday night. Luckily the "you drool you buy" policy isn't upheld. Just as well, in the pics from last time that's not rain on us.
15.
I think my grilfriend has the same t-shirt! (hopefully her's is smaller)
Not any longer. Where do you think I got mine?
i still take ugly pills each day
But you've got a lovely personality and that all that counts Geof.
16. Bought a Seymour Dunc pre-amp of Stuart. As described and fully functional. Cheers again mate. Rich.
17. Mine arrived this morning. Polishing system? It's just some lightly abrasive cloths.
18.
Serious bass face !!
First time I've seen someone else with that Tshirt.
19. Don't you be a makin' eyes at my Betty!
20. Orbital sander? I though it looked more like an angle grinder. Bloody shame for the wee beastie.
21.
4 basses (one in a hard case, rest in gigbags), 1 bag of ironmongery/accessories, one or two 5 instrument stands.
So only slightly less than Bass Shiva this time.
22.
................probably me........................ G.
You may live to regret saying that Geoff.
23.
Sadly I won't be able to make it this time as have too many personal issues getting in the way. Hopefully next time though; it's a great do.
That's a shame dude. Who will I corner and force to try out my 5er this time?
24.
I have a spare 5 instrument stand, want me to bring it?
Just out of interest Matt. How much gear are you taking? Do I need to stick the top box on the car this time?
