1. Price bump for the weekend: £ 400!! This really makes it a steal!
Hi, I've just sold my Ampeg preamp, so I won't be needing this power amp anymore.... I'm looking for £420 for this amp, as it has always been in a flightcase and looks new. Great DSP with delay, octaver even and a great active crossover. So ideal to use in a rehearsal setting where you don't want to blow any speakers. It has stereo output, so you can play bass on one channel and amplify a mixing table for keys/vox at the same time. Weighs only 10 kg.
3. Hi Jigster, If ever I'm in Coventry (is Birmingham any good as a city?), I'll bring you Belgian beers (the real deal, because you Brits probably think the only Belgian beer is Stella and Leffe;) Cheers
joachim is a good guy - buy with confidence
4. Bumpin' for the weekend With another price drop.... this makes it a steal really, £ 500 flat!!!
 5. Bump for yet another price drop! Only the G&L Climax bass is left for £ 520 !!! Ask Jigster how I handled the shipping and communication
 6. Hi there, In attachment, you can find the .zip file with the sound clips. Kind regards, Joachim
Where are you? Is pick-up possible?
7. Hi Andy, Both are both passive and active (toggle switch). Kind of a nice thing if you're in the middle of the gig and your battery dies;) The sonic difference is especially apparent if you switch on/off the preamp of the Climax bass. As I said earlier, the sound clips will be posted tonight (reckon it'll be 10 pm). That's also the main difference with a Musicman (which doesn't have the toggle, so the active preamp is always on). With the L-2000, the (active) preamp gives the sound more clarity, but there's not such a huge difference in tone. Hope this helps, Kind regards
Hi I would be interested. Are they active or passive?
8. UPDATE!: Weight of the G&L Climax bass: only 8 lbs (3.6 kg)! Nut: 38mm So the Climax bass is ideal for people with back problems. Tonight I'm posting sound clips of both basses. Many aren't familiar with the Climax bass, but it has the MFD humbucker in the Stingray position, so you get all the Snarl of a musicman, with the agility of a Jazz bass! And more treble than you can a point a stick at! Kind regards, Joachim
 9. Hi, Up for sale are two American basses. Great players, but I really need the cash for a car. I've already sold my SB-2 to Jigster (posting it next week). I'm going to miss her... If you want sound clips (with some drums, recorded into MOTU traveler), I will be able to post them on Sunday. I did it this way for Jigster and it helped him make up his mind. Anyway, more pictures can be found on: http://picasaweb.google.com/joachim.quartier Shipping is not included, but shouldn't be much. Will ship through UPS (I shipped it Monday evening and it got there on Wednesday... nice huh? Kind regards, Joachim
 10. I don't know what it is, but it's great for funk and poplines that really carry the weight of a song. It's just... there. Thanks for upping the value on this one, I had no idea the headstocks had lawsuits against them;)
When that model SB2 is in the middle position you get a beautiful kind of out of phase funk sound thats fabulous. dont forget its the early pre lawsuit headstock one....
11. @Jigster The tones are quite mellow, but in a G&L way... The ensemble of those jazz pickups and the TI flats is really amazing, you get that thump but not that hi-fi sound, which I like best. So finger style is quite groovy, mellow. But take out that pick, together with a decent palm mute, and you get some very nice attack. Problem is right now I don't have the basses with me (they're at my parents place, which is kind of far off. Next week I'll bring all the basses with me, and I'll just hook them up to my MOTU Traveler, and then you'll know exactly what they're capable of;) Kind regards, J
 12. Hi there, Because I need funds to buy my very first car (wow), I need to sell some of my G&L's. First, there's the G&L L-2000 fretless. The weight is about 9lbs (hard to translate kgs), and it plays beautifully. I should point out that it's a 3-bolt neck, which means the quality at that time was way better than it is now at G&L. Strung with Ernie Ball Slinky .95 I took some more pictures, which you can find on: http://picasaweb.google.com/joachim.quartier/GLL2000# --> Looking for 600 quid And then there's the G&L Climax bass. This is Leo's version of the Stingray. Strung with brand new Ernie Ball Slinky (.95). For me, it's a bit too similar to the ASAT I have, but I imagine it's great for metal and funk. Great active-preamp and more treble than you can point a stick out. (also switchable to passive). Gives a great thump; I don't think it's a great bass for mellow playing. Pictures on: http://picasaweb.google.com/joachim.quartier/GLClimaxBass# --> looking for 650 quid (cf. international fora). In conclusion, I really want to point out that these basses all have 3-bolt necks, so they are from the glory days of G&L. If you buy both basses, you can have them for 1100 quid. Kind regards, Joachim
 13. Hi there, 1) The bass is an L-2000 (cfr the title). 2) Original G&L case is included, as well as new Ernie Ball Slinky strings 3) It's quite light, I think it's about 4 kg (8 lbs) 4) Pictures will be updated tomorrow (don't have my camera with me) 5) It's not in the UK, but sometimes I visit a friend in London by car, so delivery is possible anywhere between Folkestone and London (preferably in the vicinity of the M20). For the people who might be interested, I also have a SB-2 (JJ configuration, made in 1983) and a G&L Climax (1995) bass for sale. Pics will be posted tomorrow, Kind regards, Joachim
Hi Joachim. A warm welcome to basschat ! There quite a few things we would like to know. 1. Which model is it , an SB-2 ? 2. Could we have some pictures of the front , headstock and metalwork please ? 3. Does it have a case 4) Is it the UK ? 5) How heavy is it - G&Ls can be sometimes a little heavy. Sorry for asking all these questions in one post, but they are the sort of things most people might want to know, and will help sell your bass. Good luck !
14. American (3-bolt neck) G&L for sale in near mint condition. I think it was made in 1997. I'd like to sell it for about 700 quid. Kind regards, Joachim
