I was wondering what colours you had I'm sure I saw a salmon pink one in the early 90's and a yellow one(whitc I want) Most of the ones that come up for sale are the colour here,or wine coloured like mine or the green one which is nice.
I've had several red ones,at least 2 Natural ones,a white one with a black center section, never a Green one I also took a red one, carved an Ibanez Jem handle in it (Used a real DY777 as a template) and resprayed it yellow and black tiger stripe, hiding the pick ups and knobs in the black sections. I then sold it to a guy who used it live, and blinded the audience with it,who knew Flourescent yellow paint would be SOoooooooooooooooooo bright under U.V. light!
  2. Some things are "RARE" by design,I spoke to Neal Moser,MCS and previousley designer at B.C.Rich,when he mentioned Seagull basses being rare,to which I said "We'll make this bass and see how it sells" chrip chirp "sh*t,we made 10 of them and had trouble selling them, that idea sucked" Therefore you have 10 "RARE" basses,as they didn't sell well
  3. I've had at least 8 of these, great basses, the neck is Maple and the top wood is American Walnut
  4. BOTH,but not topped,SOLID wood My favorite is Bird's eye maple though, although I no longer have a bass with that
  5.
Some pics for Gus (not of my bass!) Late '70's Koa top and blond maple top Eagles. Knackers still intact BTW
Those basses are not TOPPED,they are solid wings of Koa or Maple
  6.
Your 88 Gunslinger is something else Lorne. Love the ST, great design - mine is a solid player. No twin, sadly.
Thanks, the Gunslinger is usually my "Go to" bass, don't know why?,might be lower on the wall or something LOL
  7. Ok,here we go LOL 1978 and 1981 USA B.C.Rich Mockingbirds 1979 and 1985 USA B.C.Rich Bich 8 strings 1987 USA B.C.Rich ST and 1988 USA B.C.Rich Gunslinger (Bolt on) 1994 and 2007 USA B.C.Rich Widows
  8.
Er, steady on there! That was my bass and it didn't end up like that through mistreatment! The finish had started to come off when I bought it. That was a common problem with early Vigiers due to the gel type finish they used and the ding in the body came about through a ham fisted drummer who dropped a tom on it whilst packing his gear away, so go and sadden yourself with something else!
I've seen worse Vigier guys,do NOT read any further,we'll let you know when you can open your eyes Back around 1991/92,there was a local band in plymouth with a bass player who thought he was a rock star (More than the other idiots in the band),he once tried to borrow my Yamaha Attitude LTD!!! Anyway, the band were filming a video for one of their songs in a recently built swimmming pool/concert place, they were using the swimming pool. The guitarist, wisely made a P.O.S. guitar up out of spare parts for the videlo, the bassist,Yep,you guessed it,jumped straight on into the chlorined pool with the Vigier, electrics still on board and all
  9.
You'll probably find a lot of French bass players on Basschat, so I don't think this kind of language is appropriate. Thanks, V.
Now Shockwave has sold his bass (Congrats Bro-and too the buyer) I'll answer this Firstly, there was NO kind of "language" used,in the U.K. "kind of language" means swearing Secondly,as Ped said,it is a long running joke between both countries But,if you were offended then I apologise
  10. If I had the cash it would be mine,Vigier are GREAT basses, even if they are French, but alas, too many projects, too little money, best of luck mate
  11. I use longscale D'addario EXL170 strings (.045 to .100) on both my shortscale B.C.Rich Bich basses with absolutely no issues
  12. Rear body routing Angled headstock P+J pick ups Thru Neck Quality hardware and headstock truss rod access ........................Seems I've just described my B.C.Rich
  13.
Ooh this is nice Shag I've had a bit of a yearning for a BC Rich ever since I saw that wonderful YouTube vid of Maceo Parker's bass man using one on Shake Everything You've Got (although I think that's a different model he's using!). I'd always associated BC's with modern rock before I saw that. Of course then I discovered the Bernard Edwards connection as well! May have to do some thinking about this one. . .
He was using a Koa Wave bass
  14.
if you were to put him into a category I suppose he would be 'Classic Autism' - but when I started working with him about a year ago I was told he had "Severe autism, learning disabilities and other challenging behaviours". He can't speak, but can understand what is being said to him to an extent, whether he chooses to acknowledge what you say is another story! I firmly believe that he is a genius in his own right. He uses his little book (which is there in the picture) to point at a picture of something that he wants (usually a jigsaw puzzle, pancakes or 'the shop') and we can communicate by using hand gestures such as high fives or waving. I gave him my first ever bass, an encore P bass, and he loves it! ...however he just puts it in his mouth...we'll get there though!
Duarte - THANK YOU Without people like yourself, people with this disorder would remain in their own little cocoons My 6 year old son is severely Autistic with very little communication (A lot of screeching and screaming though),but with the help of his teachers and specialists,he does have an active interaction with some people now.I couldn't work with these people,I have to live with one as he is mine (And I do love him dearly),but it takes a special kind of someone to actually chose to work with them, and for that, thank you
  15.
Hi Lorne, you actually gave me advice when i was thinking of buying it,i sent you pictures at the time. I went on the BC Rich players site asking if it was genuine and had all the right bits etc
Ah,ok I think I remember it,Badass II right?
  16.
Blimey! Ive owned more drumkits than basses really but here's my little effort! First bass was some rubbish P-Bass copy(axe?) bought from the back of Kerrang magazine when i were a nipper,it was white and weighed a ton! played drums with no bass action for a good few years then... Legend Stingray copy, sounded dreadfull was really uncomfortable and was made in the dark by a one armed pirate i think as the finish was awful! Next i got an Aria electro acoustic which i still have and play alot at home. Then i traded in the Stingray copy and bought an Epiphone T-Bird,very neck droppy and the original pick ups were mental but after some tweaking and several million gigs it still remains part of the arsenal, bit battered now though! My first and only really pro bass was and indeed is a 1980 BC Rich Mockingbird which is an absolute beauty, the guy i bought it off said that the shop he bought it from said that Bernard Edwards traded it in while on tour to buy a Fender but there's absolutely no proof so it might just be a load of Bullcrap(he did play BC Rich back then though,Eagles mainly i think) Then recently i needed a 5 string for my band Beat the red light so i got one of the new Epiphone Pro T-Birds,i really like it,its a joy to play and sounds amazing. Next....we'll see.
Pics of the Mockingbird? Or do I already know of this one? Thanks
  17. If it's good maple on the neck, then it will be fine Just make sure your neck is tightly screwed to the body I have 2 B.C.Rich Bich 8 string basses, and their truss rods from that vintage, aren't the best, but both of mine are fine.one of them was under someone's bed for 8 years, strung up with all 8 strings!!! I don't know why you would want to do it though, the 8 string sound is only novel for about 2 days, then it wears thin, also the price of the strings is shocking, both my 8's are strung as 4's I wish you all the best with the project if that's what you want to do
  18.
Lorne - you FOUND those double necks?? Literally FOUND them??? Sweet!
Found them,as in Found them for sale My friend said to me "I've always wanted a doubleneck Bich bass, but I've never even seen one,let alone for sale" So,I said "Do you want one $xxxx" and sent him in the direction of the Koa one Then a year later I got him the pink one, which came with a very nice quilted 4 string version and both together were cheaper than the Koa one
  19.
Chepstow not SW... Shaftesbury not SW... Faaaar as Oi'm consarned, ought beyond Devon b'aint SW... So let's have the Bash right in the middle of the SW - in Plymouth!
I second Plymouth,we can have it at your house

    Sold a bass

A pair of 1979 B.C.Rich Bich 8 string basses in 1993,one of them I hated, the other one I loved, skip forward a bucketload of years and in 2005/6 one of them (The one I hated),came home, now I love it,the one I loved,I got the option to buy,but there is headstock damage, and I don't love it THAT much! Ibanez Roadstar II,although I can't actually remember selling it????????? Loads of Washburn Statii and regret NOT buying an ESP Lake Placid Blue Precision bass for £150!!!!!!,it was a killer bass
  21.
Ah, the RB924! This is the bass I regret selling, but I'd be surprised if you got anywhere near £450 for it, even for one in as good nick as yours. I understand they're collectable, so I'm sure you'll get a buyer. Could well have been me if it wasn't for dental bills.
Same here, except I cannot remember selling mine,Identical to the OP's bass,If I didn't have to pay for my Widow bass' refurb and Ironbird's custom hardcase,I would be after this one, alas money fails to appear
  22. Drool................Checks pockets,Lint
  23. Parking in Exeter is a nightmare though I would also think Hugh wouldn't be too happy with masses of bassists standing close to his stock, playing their own basses and not buying his,and getting in the way of real customers
  24. Lorne

    32" or 34"

I use D'addario EXL 170's on all of my basses, regardless of scale length, even had them on a Yamaha RBX 6JM
My Alembic Stanley Clarke was 30" scale and probably had my favourite slap tone of all the basses I've owned. It was a total flyer too. It all depends on what type of slap tone you like really. Marcus, Les, Larry, Mark King etc etc? All very different. In fact MK has different slap tones depending on what bass he's using.
Agreed 100% My Rosewood fretboarded Bich bass is a Slap monster, the Ebony boarded one is quite good, but I think the Ebony strangles the tone a bit?
