-
I have a friend that owns 2 of the 7 ever made B.C.Rich Bich doubleneck Basses,I found him a 3rd,but it was the one used in the Spinal Tap film, and he didn't want to pay the rediculous amount wanted for it
As a complete metal head I do love a pointy bass, I have a Flying V bass and a BC rich.
Where is the B.C.Rich? I am a fan of pointy,usually handmade basses,I have 10 B.C.Rich basses,although 2 of them are Fender shaped
Erm, dude... that's actually the right way to do it and how everyone who owns these does it (unless their a brainless retard... or a guitarist... but I didn't need to repeat myself there)
Er,Dude, having worked in a guitar shop, most people who I talked too about their Schallers, didn't have them as I do - there must be a lot of Guitarists out there P.S.,just a subtle hint,"brainless retard" is not something you should use, even in jest, you never know who mught just have a relative with mental issues, such as my son - I know you meant it as a joke,so no harm, but other people might not think so

All my basses have Schaller straplocks,I put the strap part on upside down,so the bass has to enter the strap from above, the strap part acts as a cup, just in case the piston fails (Happened once about 18 years ago) Had a Dunlop fail on me,and only just caught the bass, that being said, the Phil Lynott Mockingbird has Dunlops on it,as I am keeping that one totally original
-
Buy a Mockingbird,THEN you'll know all about neckdive LOL But as suggested earlier, get the widest strap you can get,and not a nylon one
Figure to pay about 23% of the total of cost + shipping... and handling charges.
I was typing as you posted
-
It works out to be around 23% of what you paid for the Bass AND the shipping cost, allow for 25% And it helps to have the means to pay it on the doorstep when the bass is delivered, most comapnies won't give you the bass without the cash,I learnt that lesson hard, when I accounted for around £120 for Import duty, and the postie says "That'll be £194.44 please sir" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not my best bass, you gotta be kidding,BUT I had a guy around to build some retaining walls for me,friend of a friend He quoted me rediculousley low,and he's kinda skinny,so he worked bloody hard,he saw all my basses and said he was learning to play on a borrowed bass, but he had an arguement with the owner and feared he would come back for it So,I decided,if he did a good job,I would give him a N.J.series B.C.Rich Warlock bass I had,I rewired it with DiMarzios, and had it checked out by our mutual friend to make sure he thought it was ok,he thought the bass was great I gave it to the builder and he was dumbfounded, but he deserved the bass Kinda sucked, that the same bloody week I decide to give it to him,I had 2 guys try to buy it from me for £350!!!!,but once my mind is made up,that's the way it stays, don't regret it at all
And this is just some of the basses I found for my American friend, not including any of the guitars I found for my Polish friend "G'day Lorne,...I love you   can I be your Aussie friend, and you could find me a Rickenbacker"...??
Ha ha,sorry mate,I only deal in BCR's,I really wouldn't know how to spot a fake Rick from a real one
I would still like a decent 8-string (octave pairs)
I've got 2,both USA B.C.Rich Bich basses, both now strung as 4 stringers,8 string sound is novel, only for about 5 days,I also sold a Hagstrom 8 in the last few years,it was given to me though My name's Lorne and I had G.A.S.,then my wife got some new kitchen knives and a glint in her Eye,I think I'm cured with 10 BCR's (One doesn't count though as it's a guit) I have sold 10 basses and guitars though,Inc 6 BCR's,one of which I gave away,so,technically,I'm at the starting point again?? Do you think she will buy that lads????
Wow...what a bass...owned by rock royalty no less.
He didn't actually own the bass,it and 3 B.C.Rich guitars, were lent to the band by the U.K. importer for a few days,to record the video
Ah, good work! And loft basses do actually exist!
Absolutley, and he even remembered to remove the battery, leave the sales receipt and original warranty card, and the original straplocks in the original case (Which he remembered to leave unlocked) He bought the bass in June 1979 and moved to South Africa in 1982,the bass went into the loft and I removed it in December 2006,so,24 years in a Loft!!!! No signs of wear though,or wood worm! ha ha ha Phil with the bass The 1981 Mockingbird The Gunslinger
How did you wrangle these? Tell me via PM if necessary!
1978 Mockingbird was just given to me,by it's owner, who lives in South African, the bass was in his parents loft in Northampton, had been for 24 years 1960's Hagstrom /\ His parents made me take it 1981 Mockingbird,my friend in Poland gave it to me for finding him rare BCR's Gunslinger bass, some American friends owed me favors,so they paid most of the bass Also, got a 1987 USA neck thru BCR ST bass with a new case and shipping for the same price my friend payed for it without the case and shipping-agan for finding him rare BCRs
Did the Thin Lizzy guys borrow the Riches from Amrik & Pammi when they were importing them in the late 70s?
No,From Max Kay of E.F.R. guitars Mal Stich, vice president of B.C.Rich remembers Max fondly and bumps into him from time to time at the German guitar shows If you get hold of a decent copy of the DVD,you can see small stickers on the lower horns of all 4 BCR's,seems like Max did a little bit of sneaky advertising, here is a couple of the 160 odd stills I have of the Video shoot
-
Ha ha ha,No worries SickPuppy,I just want people to know that Phil never actually owned the bass, but borrowed it,so that if I ever sell it,they know the full story Which I have/original sales receipt/stills from the video etc etc
-
Phil Lynott used an old Mocking Bird.
I know,he only borrowed it for a Video shoot though Reason I know,I own the BASS Phil borrowed
Lovely! I used to have a wonderful snakeskin finish ST3 - it's one of the few guitars I really regret selling.
Thanks RhysP,I own a Snakeskin ST III,although I haven't seen it since I bought it a year ago,it is at my friend's house in Poland,no worries though,as I have 2 of his guitars at my house,a BCR Condor and a BCR Ignitor Here is my ST III I also have a Snakeskin NJ Series II Warlock bass, which I haven't seen in a year and a half
Is that your Snakeskin Lorne? Love it! APSH has an awesome one, but doesn't have the reverse headstock... or vice versa, maybe. You've got some awesome gear - which I pretty much say every time
Yes,APSH's Gunslinger bass does have the reverse headstock,I should know,I sold him a 1980's NEW neck for his bass,as his came with a Robin neck I like his paint better than mine though
-
Yeah, look around the second hand market, sometimes, you get lucky, especially if the seller states shipping to his country, and you politely ask if he'll ship to your's Cost LESS than the Musicmans mentioned (Inc shipping),is U.S.A. handmade and IMPO is better than any musicman I've played and the neck is cool

Stunning piece of wood, don't like tops myself, prefer solid wings I have a solid winged Quilted maple Mockingbird bass, but the wood isn't as nice as this piece on evilbay
