1.
Does anybody play acoustic bass here with acoustic guitars? any ideas?
I have done in the past. The one thing about acoustic bass versus acoustic guitar is that they'll never be heard at equal volume unamplified - the bass will always appear quieter. I'm not sure if this is because most actually are, but maybe because the tone of acoustic guitars is more piercing/discernable to the ear of the listener than the bass. Of course every guitar/bass is different - see if you can get a decent volume level when played unplugged in an ensemble setting before investing in anything bigger.
2. Can you post (or if you prefer, PM me) a list of prices that you'd let the parts go for? I'm interested to know the value of some of them and you might even get a few takers!
3.
You can see the holes are at the top in teh thumb rest position .. but I want to know what "Scratcholate" is Is that a chocolate scratchplate as in "about as much use as a chocoloate scratchplate"? I guess you could lick it during long drum solos
That's the most surreal post I've read all week!
4. I'll be in the market for a Fender Jazz quite soon, and will probably go with one of the CIJ Reissues. Have GAS for one of these right now, I'd love one in Candy Apple Red -
5. Already been posted here mate! Pretty sweet amps IMO
6. Ugh, that new bass is horrible! Gimme an Attitude over that any day!
7. It's possible that they're an OEM string brand that Lakland put on their shipped basses, so there's a chance you may not be able to buy them commercially. Sorry I can't be of any more help!
8. I'm much more impressed by the drumming in this video than the bass playing, the guy seems to have a nice sense of groove, even though he is a little busy with the snare at times!
9. I know the part you're talking about....from what I can recall, JPJ just elaborates on the Em and D chords using the Em pentatonic scale. There's also an F in there somewhere, so be sure to emphasise that because it sounds really dark and moody! Hope this helps
10. I'd personally go with Macassar just because I think it looks absolutely stunning when you get a nice piece!
11. AFAIK Ibanez have codes for all of the parts on their basses - I wanted a replacement bridge for my SRX a few years ago and successfully obtained the code from one of the Ibanez websites. For the life of me, I can't find a suitable link, but there's definitely information out there somewhere in cyberspace! Hope this helps! Danny
12.
A cheaper solution would be to turn your Stingray down. Alex
13. Keith Moon - I don't think I could be in a band with him because he's just too damn frantic, but a 1-on-1 session would be awesome!
14. Hello all, Quick question for all you Badass II users - Which size allen key do I need to adjust the bridge saddles? I've looked online but can't seem to find the right info anywhere! Thanks in advance, Danny
15. GREAT post! One of my favourite McCartney basslines! I never knew someone had the isolated track before, this is great listening!
16. My Warwick SSII - Romeo My Fender Fretless P - Juliet
17. Ahh great, cheers for that link, I watched that video some time ago but couldn't remember what song it was, or what recording! Great post and of course a fantastic bass tone!

19.
WHAT? are you being serious? I could easily spend 2k on bass stuff in one outing.... besides it includes amps, effects... infact pretty much all we use except PA equipment....
I think most of us could easily spend 2k on ONE BASS in an outing!
20.
The owner wants to run this through one amp but use both pick ups.
Is there a noticeable difference in doing this over just running in Mono (ie one output jack for both pickups) mode?
21. I play in a Jazz ensemble with 2 other bass players, normally we either play from the same score or in harmony, and the conductor will instruct one of us to solo at certain times. It actually works quite well but I find it hard to cut through the other two, both on Stingrays!
22. I'm not sure that moving production overseas will have a huge impact on the quality of the instruments being produced. The parts and machines used will not change, and surely one that is made in China is no more liable to fail than one made in America. From my experience of Chinese labour, quality controls play a huge part in production over there, so I think to have a negative view on the output of their factories cannot always be justified. I expect that as with Ashdown and others that there will be an initial 'teething' period as production is gradually shifted abroad, but after that I'd certainly have no reservations about buying a product that to me is no different.
23. Those cabs are AWESOME! Great combination. Whoever ends up with this will have a great rig! BUMP!
