  1. Hi all! For sale is this lovely Squier Classic Vibe P Bass in Fiesta Red. A real Pino-alike! This is the much lauded Made in China version from the Classic Vibe series, released around 2012. I have changed the neck to a matching Squier Classic Vibe J Bass neck from the same period. I prefer the slimmer nut width and it makes playing a breeze. The perfect halfway house for those who want the feel of a J but the tone of a P. The fit and finish is absolutely seamless, lovely dark rosewood board. I do not have the original neck. The pickguard has been replaced with a genuine Fender tort plate which does not have the thumbrest, but visually looks a lot nicer with a deep tort swirl. She is the veteran of many gigs and currently strung with La Bella 760FS Deep Talkin Flats which I feel are the perfect tension for a P Bass. Condition wise I would rate it at 8.5+/10. There are a few small dings which I have attempted to photograph on the underside of the bass. Aside from these the bass is in excellent condition and has been looked after impeccably. For this bass I am asking £350 plus £15 UK postage. No trades thanks. The bass will be very well packaged in a proper bass guitar shipping box. Any enquiries feel free to DM Thanks Danny

  3. I do exactly the same. Everything below 40hz and above 7khz is completely cut from my signal. Sounds so much better and cleans up blocks such as octave down really nicely.
  4. Since I stopped using backline altogether, I have never been happier. I have never had a better tone than preamp straight into IEM
  5. You can use the same AUX out that you use for your stage monitor and run it to an IEM beltpack or transmitter, allowing you to hear the vocals in your ear much more clearly.
  6. As a long time Fender user and fan I recently changed to G&L L2000 for all my live work. Great tone!
  7. Beatles and Stones both charting this month - what decade are we in again? Someone said if it wasn't the Beatles who wrote this song, we would never hear it as it is simply unremarkable. I'm a huge Beatles fan and although I don't particularly like the track, I think it's amazing that it has been released and in awe of the technology used. Just fantastic to hear it and the surrounding documentary footage about its production is a real joy to watch.

I think it might be worth welcoming the OP to the forum
  9. Scandalous. Surely for a few hundred quid more you could get an actual retro bass from that period which would only appreciate in value. Unsure if these would even hold their value in today's market.
  10. The Zeroamp model (Sansamp) to my ears sounds better than the actual Sansamp BDDI itself. One of my favourite blocks on the HX.
  11. They changed the pickup pole piece alignment. The strings now pass directly over the pole pieces which alleviates the classic weak G of all previous Rays.
  12. Most touring live bands now have variable speed click where the track will speed up for the chorus and slow down for heavy breakdowns etc. Pretty easy to program on Ableton and also allows you to timecode lights and visuals to specific parts of the song too.
  13. Possibly so, but the one I had didn't have any centre detents on the knobs, meaning you really didn't know where was flat. Seemed completely counter-intuitive. On the other hand, some active pres really make sense to me, e.g. the G&L pre.
  14. Overrated - All Aguilar amps. 40hz for the Bass control is just too low to be useful as anything other than a cut. - John East preamps - could not gel with it at all, but I tend to favour passive basses anyway. - Mono gig bags. I have one and an old Fender gigbag that cost £40 has almost as much padding - the Mono cost £200+ - TI flats - too loose a tension for me, feel rubbery under the fingers - All Stingray basses pre 2018 - weak G syndrome, poorly designed and incorrect pickup alignment - Barefaced cabs - way too woofy, too much bottom end - All stainless steel strings - there is just a missing frequency in the midrange somewhere that you get with nickels - Slap bass Underrated - Good IEMs - a total game changer - HPF in the signal chain - secret tone sauce!
  15. Hi all Selling this beauty of an Ashdown amp head I'm the second owner and it has been stored all its life in the supplied carry bag which is a handy addition. In good condition with only a few minor scratches on top which don't break the surface (pictured) 800 watts weighing 4.5kg, full specs here: https://ashdownmusic.com/products/rm-800 In the interests of full disclosure - the EQ on/off button can be a bit temperamental when pushing on/off. However with a couple of tries it works fine. I didn't find this problematic as I never understood the need to turn the EQ off! However it's best a buyer knows this just in case Yours for the princely sum of 31p per watt - or £250 in old money, plus fully insured postage to UK which I would estimate at a tenner maybe. Please PM me with any questions Thanks for looking! Danny

  17. Hi all Bought this book off Amazon on a whim for £25 and never used or opened it! It will definitely be of use to someone who wants to learn slap bass. Compiled by highly regarded tutor and BC member Stuart Clayton. 223 pages paperback - truly a slap bass bible! Yours for £10 plus £3 P&P Can combine postage if you also want the Mark King book I have for sale. Thanks! Danny
  18. I like to fret the last fret and measure the distance between string and pole pieces for each string. The gap is usually 4mm for me bass side and 3mm treble side. I find that has a high enough output with no clicking noise.
  19. What's your pickup height (i.e. distance from the strings)? I believe this affects tone more than is talked about really.
  20. Anyone ever successfully replaced a memory wire on an earphone? The one on my left JH Roxanne has broken inside the sleeve. Slightly annoying as now the earpiece isn't quite fixed in place. I don't really fancy paying £200 for a new cable just to replace the memory wire so hoping there is an alternative solution.
