1. Ditto to above. A P bass will sound very different through different amps, speakers, processors etc. The best tone I ever achieved was recording straight D.I. into an old valve-driven Neve desk. Never been able to replicate that tone. Some of the sound is also in your hands.
2. 3 lefty Jap Fenders. 2 J's + a P.
3. Maybe time for a spell on ebay?
4. That bound neck and lollipop tuners def do it for me :-)
5. Only ever had a play on a Schecter guitar. Thought it was very well made with a lot of tonal options.
6. A powerful wave of sound coming from a sea foam green box? Gotta call it TSUNAMI
7. Gorgeous. Alas, still looking for a lefty one.....:-(
8. I play this way. Lefty instruments were scarce and I was happy enough playing on righty basses in the local guitar shops. I kept to small-bodied symmetrical bodies to cut down the obvious problems, eg Hofner 500/1, Gibson EBO, Steinberger... Now play proper lefties but still strung upside down of course.
9. Playing at being Sting for 7 years should be enough for anyone.
10. If this were a lefty I'd have it off you in a heartbeat!
11. Bought a preamp from Pete. Honest and upright bloke. Pleasure to deal with.
12. @blablas Do you have any sound samples of each of the basses you have built?
13. That's about how worn my jap jazz was before I had it re-sprayed, ha!
14. It was seeing this P on the website that made me enquire after a possible lefty. Sadly no :-(
15. I would imagine the bass is the least likely instrument a school would invest in so it's no surprise.
16. I like to use the thumb/ finger technique on my precision strung with flats. Helps get the tone Im after. Sting's '54 P has had the electrics and pup replaced and he also uses light gauge DR rounds as he favours a bright tone.
17. Cheers people. 25% adds a fair whack to potential costs. I guess it all depends on my GAS levels to whether I commit, haha.
18. Has anyone imported a 2nd hand bass from outwith the EU recently? How are import duties worked out and is it straightforward to pay for and collect the instrument?
19. Love it
20. Becoming seriously tempted now. However, I couldn't get on with the scale length of my Thumb so moved it on but I've never owned a 5'er.....
21. Aww man, wish I was able to craft stuff with my clumsy paws :-(
22.
[sub]Does anyone know if they do left handers. [/sub]
I'm afraid not. I already contacted to ask. However, Bravewood guitars will build a lefty relic, although they are more expensive.
