  1. I would have some real tasty basses in my collection had I been able to hold on to everyone Ive ever owned so good luck getting back the 'special one'!
  2. Is the nut reversible? I play with strings in reverse order.
  3. Ha! That's a classic wind up. On topic, a lefty Bravewood P and matching J bass would be my ideal if I could generate the funds. They do look the bo@##cks.
  4. Lovely colour. I don't know where Limelight source their parts but it must be limited as they can't offer lefties. However, Bravewood say they can. Is their reputation as good?
  5. Would these be too big for a half size?
  6. I played at the Overwater stand at a Glasgow music show a long, long time ago. Really nice basses even then and Chris was keen to build me a discounted lefty but I was young and skint and still the latter....hehe.
  7. I only played short scales for years. Main gigging bass was a 1968 Gibson EBO with back up being a 1978 Fender Musicmaster with a replacement Seymour Duncan Basslines single-coil 50's P bass pickup. Sold both when I stopped playing for about 7 years. Now equipped only with P and J basses.
  8. Just out! Sterling by Musicman Ray34 in natural.
  9. Is this one going to be fretted or fretless?
  10. And still no lefties offered in this range :-(
  11. If I could make just one of those knobs I would be well chuffed never mind a whole instrument.
  12. Black with maple. My favourite combination :-)
  13. Strange tuning system. What's the string tension like?
  14. Link not working for me. Maybe post up a photo?
  15. I had an Ampeg micro amp but found the fan too noisy at home. I now have a super silent Eden wtx264 which can also be used without a cab and just headphones Very small and portable to boot and loud enough bandwise with a 4ohm cab.
  16. Nice! The relicing looks very like my once beat up jap Fender JB (white/red tort guard) that I recently had resprayed black. Funny how I've gone the other way with my bass to put some new 'mojo' into it for me.
  17. Pretty sure every guy with a db wishes Esperanza was his girlfriend. I'll be pleased not to need a box to stand on never mind make any meaningful noises with mine :-)
  18. If you try a search on Gumtree there are a few lefties in the Glasgow area.
  19. Again, thanks Marc for that piece. All useful and encouraging.
  20. I have a jap '57 with all maple neck and it is wider than the '62 version. The tone is a lot brighter too compared to the mellow of a '62. Would like one of each actually, great basses. My two Fender jazz are also jap made.
  21. If you need to practise you could always just pop into one of the music stores.
  22. My fav Fender flats are the 40-100 gauge, super light, which have been discontinued :-(
  23. Some sound advice there, thanks guys. String prices are shockingly expensive. I used to play fretless for years but never entertained getying an upright because of my small build. I did try a Stagg 3/4 eub when they came out but felt this too was too much for me. I will certainly look into getting a few lessons to understand how to approach the instrument.
  24. I had a black Ray34. As good as the US models. That clear pickguard really shows off the bass to its honeyburst best!
