  1. [quote name='Grangur' timestamp='1454870159' post='2973768'] Conductive plastic? [/quote] Yes, indeed; it's to help out with cable rustle when handling, I think, but should be kept well away from the plug tags by trimming back severely.
  2. We have a very sophisticated system, with plastic open crates for the cabling (one for Speakons, another for mains cables and multi-plugs, yet another for xlr and another for Guitar 1's pedals and stuff...), shopping bags for the Guitar 2 cables, bass cables are in the flight with the bass amp, bass in a case. My drums are in soft, padded cases, cymbals in their flight case, drum accessories in a wooden box, stands are piled in at the end, with the tractor-seat drum throne and carpet to stop it all from rattling around. When loaded, it looks like this, for short, local trips... The 'cubes' are loaded first; the rest packed around 'em... We are five (well, four plus myself; I don't count for much more than winding cables, these days..! ), and all take their share of loading, packing away, etc. In those photos, we're 'backline only'; there's more (and more careful packing...) when we have the PA and monitors to carry.
  3. [quote name='christofloffer' timestamp='1454857173' post='2973565']...any tips on sorting out the mixing would be appreciated. [/quote] After a very quick 'once through' listen, I'd immodestly suggest that it may be advantageous to try 'panning' the instrument spread, so as to generate some separation. Not necessarily all-out left/right, but imagining a real-life stage, with the players up there; where on the stage would they be standing..? 'Traditionally', the drums, bass and lead vocals (if any...) are centred, but even that, I find, is often helped by a few points of separation. Testing a mix in mono is definitely recommended, however, to ensure final balance. Just a suggestion. If I may, I'd also like to suggest that, from an arrangement point of view, one could consider 'dropping' an instrument or two during the performance, to give some 'relief' to a piece. A 'once-through' without the drums, for instance, and another without the 'lead' instrument, brings a bit of new life when they come back in. It's often said (and I'm as guilty as the next in disregarding...) that 'less is more'. It's true; all need not be played all the way through, all of the time. Just sayin'. (Well, you [i]did [/i]ask..! )
  4. No comments on the aptitude of Ship's Down lining the Bird's Nest..? A nice coincidence, I suppose. Not listened yet to the demo, that's come later, I hope.
  5. [quote name='Woodinblack' timestamp='1454854123' post='2973531']... Then later I went into the hall to get my stuff for the gig, and found this:... [/quote] ... and now you're feeling sheepish..?
  6. [quote name='gillento' timestamp='1454793006' post='2973114'] sorry [/quote] [sharedmedia=core:attachments:167485]
  7. [quote name='Chaos Daveo' timestamp='1454792575' post='2973109'] 1000 pardons good sir, I shall go back to my dark corner .. [/quote] [sharedmedia=core:attachments:167485]
  8. [quote name='Ruck' timestamp='1454786476' post='2973023'] He's just told me he is not going to refund me and it is upto DPD to compensate me. Which I doubt will happen either. well. damn. Not surprising of course. [/quote] Was this a purchase through Basschat..? If so, other members may like to know who the seller was, so as to not suffer similar misfortune..?
  9. [quote name='Chaos Daveo' timestamp='1454790698' post='2973084'] I'm just enquiring if it's an option as its not stated, that's all [/quote] No problem with that. It's a direct trade offer from someone else that's been deleted, not your perfectly valuable request. As you were, carry on, men...

  11. [quote name='chris_b' timestamp='1454759029' post='2972665']...How this has anything to do with "etiquette" beats me. [/quote] From the OED... Etiquette: The customary code of polite behaviour in society or among members of a particular profession or group. No more, no less; no big deal.
  12. [quote name='grandad' timestamp='1454752529' post='2972568']... Apparently I've used up my 30MB so no photo's. [/quote] Try this, to delete attachments no longer required, and liberate quota space..? Go to your 'My Profile' (your pseudo, top right...). Select 'Edit my Profile' (black button a bit below...). Select 'Manage Attachments' (in the list on the left...). They are listed in date order. Navigate to oldest, select those to be deleted (tick boxes on the right...). Select 'Delete Selected' (grey button at bottom right of list...). Repeat, page by page, until all unwanted attachments are deleted. Using the BBCode link supplied by an external photo account such as PhotoBucket, Imgur or ImageShack is a good idea; the photos are better presented and it uses no BC server space. I use Imgur (it's free...); here's what it looks like (the correct link for Basschat is in green...) ... Others are similar (assuming use of a PC; I know nothing of other devices...). Hope this helps...
  13. [quote name='Marti T' timestamp='1454702012' post='2972308'] Trades? I have some yellow Y fronts with purple piping. 14. [quote name='Tina' timestamp='1454698840' post='2972270']... How do I Edit the title to say SOLD?... [/quote] Go to the very first post of the topic, and select 'Edit'. Using the 'Use Full Editor' button, the title may be accessed and edited. Too late for this one, of course, as it has now been closed; next time, perhaps..?
  15. [quote name='blue' timestamp='1454694545' post='2972219'] Ginger is kicking arse in the clip you posted. Man, that cat was good!... [/quote] Can't say I agree, here; he looks mighty bored to me. Not a great fan of his at the best of times since Fresh Cream and Disraeli Gears, and him being, by all accounts, a bit of a swine (I wouldn't know personally, though...) doesn't incite me to appreciate his style. And yes, I was there, that day, in the park, although it's difficult to see me for all the bare-breasted ladies and shaking freaks that steal the camera at these occasions. A good day, in general. Richie Havens was brilliant.
  16. Two separate points here... [quote name='ialma' timestamp='1454688414' post='2972124']... I wanted to buy a bass here on classifieds, contacted seller and he wrote it was sold.... [/quote] Once an item has been sold, it's required that the mention 'Sold' (or 'Withdrawn'...) be added to the topic title, leaving the rest of the title and topic intact. This enables buyers to not waste time on items no longer available, and signals to the Mods that the topic is ready for closure. It shouldn't be necessary to ask a seller if the item is still available if all adhered to this simple system, but some folks forget once the sale has gone through. [quote name='ialma' timestamp='1454688414' post='2972124']... it's an inappropriate question... [/quote] A private sale is exactly that; a [i]private [/i]sale. There is no obligation on the part of the seller to reveal who the buyer was, and it's not considered good form to enquire, generally. A buyer usually relies on the good faith of the seller to respect that privacy, including the terms of the sale. It's not written in stone; just a question of etiquette, as suggested in the title of this topic.
  17. [quote name='LayDownThaFunk' timestamp='1454687110' post='2972099'] Sounds like he needs a refresher or refreshment. [/quote] In case he blows a fuse..? A large tonic, then.
  18. [quote name='keefbaker' timestamp='1454672394' post='2971854'] So, anybody into stuff that doesn't use bass?... [/quote] Wot..? There's stuff that doesn't use [i]bass[/i]..? No, seriously; it's not a criteria at all in my listening. Any and everything, from solo a capela singing, through nose flutes to chamber music, passing by Oriental ragas and other ethnic to jazz ensembles, fusion, classical and classic rock, some of which contains [s]nuts[/s] bass. Some of it is quite nice, too.
  19. OK, folks, here's a [i]bass[/i] noodle. It's a repeated 7/4 riff, augmented by a 'double stroke' every 6 beats. Very hypnotic when played over a slow 4/4 drum beat, for instance. Season with stabbed keys and chicken-picking guitar to taste. Enjoy... [url="http://soundcloud.com/dad3353/meat-show-isolated-bass"]Meat Show Isolated Bass Noodle ...[/url]
  20. [quote name='ambient' timestamp='1454638484' post='2971632'] Headphones ? I really appreciate you listening though, thanks ! [/quote] At this time of night (morning..?), headphones are [i]de rigour.[/i].! It's rare that I use the monitors, and never at volume. I'm still intrigued, and will continue to strive towards enlightenment. Not that I'm overly enamoured of Chopin et al, either; I really [i]do [/i]follow a fairly eclectic gamut of compositional styles. Never mind me, you just keep on keeping on; I'll maybe catch up one day (or night..! )
  21. Some people never learn, do they..? I even turned the volume up to 100%..! One day, perhaps, I will understand; one day...
  22. [quote name='Wonky2' timestamp='1454617111' post='2971441'] Try this..... [url="https://soundcloud.com/myzeneye/new-bass"]https://soundcloud.c...zeneye/new-bass[/url] [/quote] Excellent; well done..! Now then, on to Youtube so that we can all see the video..!
