  1. [quote name='Twincam' timestamp='1461200466' post='3032447']... Does soundcloud do weird stuff to the upload??? [/quote] I, too, claim surdity, but am happy enough with the sound quality from Soundcloud. Yes, it's better than Youtube, I find. I get best results by uploading a WAV file, recorded at 44100 Hz, 24-bit (and playing like a god, but that's more difficult..! ). I don't know if there's any better way; others may have other tales to tell..?

  3. [quote name='CamdenRob' timestamp='1461174977' post='3032213'] Sorry double post... How do you delete posts on the mobile site? [/quote] I dunno, but if a post is 'Reported', a Mod or Admin will see it 'flagged' and deal with it. This goes for most problems encountered. Hope this helps.

  5. [quote name='stevie' timestamp='1461150875' post='3031854']... There are also lots of great midi files on the web, which give you a full arrangement that you can read if you have a proper midi player. [/quote] I use Guitar Pro 6 as a MIDI reader; it does a great job, showing all instruments on staves (or tab...), able to re-assign bass clef for treble, transpose and much, much more....
  6. [quote name='joey1234' timestamp='1461147888' post='3031799']...my question should have bee which jazz standards should I learn... [/quote] To which I would reply with another question: why do you want to learn these..? Is it for your own, private study, or have you a band audition lined up..? Will you be playing these with others, and if so, with whom..? Are you in any hurry, with a date in view, or looking for 'the long haul'..? Sorry; that's several questions. Well..?
  7. [quote name='police squad' timestamp='1461149328' post='3031825']... if you can sing, chuck in some backing vocals. [/quote] ... but if you can't, dont.
  8. Heed not these siren calls from afar. Look no further than OBBM, for all cable needs, including special needs and unusual combinations of connectors. Top quality, top pricing, top lead time (free pun in there, somewhere...), and [s]Mike's[/s] Dave's a real Good Egg, too. They don't get any better than those, word.
  9. Offers and trade propositions are to be made by Private Message (PM...) only, such posts in an ad are systematically deleted; the offending post here is no longer visible for this reason.. Thanks in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
  10. [sharedmedia=core:attachments:167485] S'my Hofner Verithin bass. Old, but still going strong. Good luck with the sale.
  11. I've posted this before, but it's still relevant; here's a link to Ralph Patt's Jazz Web Page, when one can find the 'vanilla' chords and structure to most jazz standards... [url="http://www.ralphpatt.com/Song.html"]Ralph Patt's Jazz Web Page ...[/url] Extremely useful for understanding the very basics of these tunes, too often obscured by ornementation and enriching. These basics give the key to following what's going on, and on which one may, in turn, improvise or elaborate. Hope this helps.
  12. An anecdote..? Oh, go on; only a (fairly...) short one. I can..? Ah, well then... My parents met and courted during WWII, and founded a (large; 8 children...) shortly afterwards. They both worked hard, but money was pretty tight, so luxuries were...well, luxuries, so we seldom had any. One of the fashions back in those days were for fur coats; all the 'stars' had 'em. Too expensive for most folks, but one could dream, couldn't one..? The children grew up and left home; Mum and Dad would have, little by little, a bit more disposable income. In secret, and over a decade or so, my Dad put away a medium chunk of money and, as a surprise 50th wedding anniversary, presented my Mum with a splendid mink coat, just like the ones seen on the silver screen in their younger days. Of course, she was delighted. However, their social circles and way of life had changed a lot over time, and she had less occasion to wear it than in the past, and, frankly, fashions had moved on. The moral of the tale..? It's a question of dreams. My Mum had gained a much-coveted fur coat, but had lost a dream of having a fur coat. She was the first to admit that, whilst being very grateful for the intention and attentions of my Dad, the dream was, in fact more valuable to her than its concretion. Back in the '50s and '60s, rock'n'roll, and modern music in general was a dream for many of us, and an almost unobtainable luxury. Not so these days. The current generations have their own aspirations and dreams (X-Factor..? Top footballer..? Fashion designer..? I dunno...); it's the dream that's got value. The realisation of one's dreams is not, always, desirable, or, at least, should be followed by further dreams to aim for. Are we really luckier these days..? Hmm... Not for those still dreaming...
  13. [quote name='blue' timestamp='1460962511' post='3030079'] He's from Milwaukee. Blue [/quote] And Wooten; Idaho. That's close (enough...) to Milwaukee, isn't it..? No..? Oh, well. Being born where one's born is only coincidence, anyway.

  15. [quote name='ambient' timestamp='1460923431' post='3029874'] Less trebly . I find it too trebly with the passive control up, and the active control up. It's kind of too brittle sounding. [/quote] Ah, OK; thanks for clarifying. Isn't the English language splendid, enabling us to communicate so well..? I'll drum up the opposite schema, for a low-pass filter, then. Back in a tick... Here we go, a low pass filter... As before, try different values to optimise, but that'll kill the treble.
  16. [quote name='MoonBassAlpha' timestamp='1460920571' post='3029827']... the OP wants a low pass filter. ... [/quote] I understand the opposite; he wants a more trebly sound. I could be wrong, but it's still a bit ambiguous. Well, Ian..? More treble, or more bass..?
  17. [quote name='sifi2112' timestamp='1460913437' post='3029753']...I've reached my upload limit. [/quote] Try this, to delete attachments no longer required, and liberate quota space..? Go to your 'My Profile' (your pseudo, top right...). Select 'Edit my Profile' (black button a bit below...). Select 'Manage Attachments' (in the list on the left...). They are listed in date order. Navigate to oldest, select those to be deleted (tick boxes on the right...). Select 'Delete Selected' (grey button at bottom right of list...). Repeat, page by page, until all unwanted attachments are deleted. Using the BBCode link supplied by an external photo account such as Imgur is a good idea; the photos are better presented and it uses no BC server space. I use Imgur (it's free...); here's what it looks like (the correct link for Basschat is in green...) ... Other image hosting sites are similar, I believe (assuming use of a PC; I know nothing of other devices...). Hope this helps...

  19. Don't you just love a happy ending..? Thanks for the update; glad there's one less bar steward on Earth than some of us thought..! Oh, hang on a minute...
  20. Not the best worded request, but if I understand correctly, you're wanting to cut the bass with a fixed, passive, high-pass circuit. Here's one, very simple, taken from a fuzz-box schema... You may have to play about with the values to get the exact degree of tone adjustment that you require; on the other hand it's about as 'cheap and cheerful' as one could wish. Your brother will know where to solder this in (undo the o/p jack and insert this circuit...). Have fun; hope this helps. Subject to correction, completion and/or contradiction from others.
  21. Yeah, but he's been practising, innit..!
  22. An old photo; the amp I'm playing through in the background is our Fender Bassman 50w, into a 2 x 15 cab. We're playing outdoors (La Fête de la Musique, in front of a café/bar...), and it was plenty loud enough for our pop/rock covers (U2, Radiohead, Noir Désir etc...). It's not stadium rock, but I never had to turn the thing up to max to be heard, and the two guitars use valve half-stacks..!
  23. PM sent ...

  25. [quote name='ambient' timestamp='1460821060' post='3029096'] As I see it, he's asking for a contribution toward the band's fee. It's his venue, I don't see how he's being underhand, or dishonest. He's given the money, plus some from him to the band. [/quote] [quote]... [color=#282828][font=helvetica, arial, sans-serif]Had he not collected any money "for the band" I would have been perfectly happy with my smaller than usual, but agreed upon fee but the people putting notes into the glass were obviously under the impression that the band would benefit from it yet only the owner has because, his contribution to the cost of the band is now much smaller. He was collecting for him, not us. I see this as immoral and dishonest and no different from collecting charity donations and then keeping it.[/font][/color] [color=#282828][font=helvetica, arial, sans-serif] [/font][/color][color=#282828][font=helvetica, arial, sans-serif]...[/quote][/font][/color] [color=#282828][font=helvetica, arial, sans-serif]Collecting money for himself would be fine. Giving the impression that it's monies going to be given to the band is not. That's (app[/font][/color][color=#282828][font=helvetica, arial, sans-serif]arently...) the perception. The actual intention is only speculation, of course, but, given the quote above, it doesn't look good.[/font][/color]
