2. I have one thats identical to this, except mine has a Seymour Duncan pre fitted. Cracking bass, and this is an absolute bargain if it plays anything like mine! Someone snatch his hand off!!
3. I used to get that problem, until I built my BFM Omni cabs, never had it since. The BFM has a very articulate midrange which cuts through the mix very well. You could try boosting the midrange a bit.
4. I'm finding my new car has less boot space than the previous one, and the rack case for my amp is just a tad too large for me to fit it in. I reckon a 2U rack bag should be just right, so if anyone has a half decent one and wants to do a swap, gimme a PM! Its one of These and in excellent condition, with just a few marks where its been slid in an out of the (old) car! Plus the guitarist is fed up with having it on his lap on the way to gigs!! Cheers Andy
5. This is how I did it
6. Is it an active bass? its normally an indication that the battery is going flat. Try changing it it. Of course, if its passive, it wont be that!
7. I replaced mine with Switchcraft ones, never had a problem after that.
8. Wider string spacing preferred, 18mm at bridge is probably the minimum I'm comfortable with. Anyone got anything?
9. You should find some info on the Spector Forum. I've had 2 Spectors and had to change the Jack socket on them both
10. Hi Ben If I decide to sell it as parts, I'll drop you a line, but at the moment I'll see if I can get a trade Thanks Andy
11.
Interested in My Peavey International Series 5er?
I wouldn't mind a look at that, have you got any pics? Oh, and where are you based?
. Any other parts changed on this? Pickups?
As far as I know it has the standard original pickups Cheers Andy
12. I need a back up bass, and seeing as I'm only playing fivers these days I thought I might as well offer this up and see if anyone's interested in trading for a five string bass. I put it together from parts sourced from ebay and on here, the body was sold to me as a mim, loaded, and the neck is a squier, the tuners came off a jap fender. I've put a different logo on and its got new roto nickels on it. It all fits together really well, plays nicely and sounds like a precision! Its probably not worth what I paid for the parts, but hey ho Its got a ding on the front between the pickup covers, well not so much a ding, more an indentation that hasn't broken through the finish, difficult to capture on a photo, and a scratch by the rear strap pin
13. I used These on my BFM cabs.
14. Check this out
15. I wouldn't discount a Status Shark 5 string, either, I have one with a Seymour Duncan STC-3M3 active preamp fitted, which can make it sound very stingray-esque, and the neck is typically Status. This one's not going anywhere, I'm afraid, but they do crop up on ebay from time to time
16. Have a look at This thread If you use the search function, you should find quite a few threads along those lines
17. Its a common problem, you screw the strap button in and the thread has stripped. There have been a few threads on here about it. Happened to me yesterday on an old P bass beater I picked up recently, so I thought I'd show y'all how I deal with it. First of all I blow all the remaining sawdust ot of the hole, then take a hardwood dowel and fix it into the chuck of my drill, and with the drill clamped in my workmate, switch it on a fast speed and file it down to size. (You can use match sticks, but I find them to be made from very soft wood) Here's a before and after Then I add some wood glue to the dowel, tap it into the hole When the glue has dried, cut it off flush (note masking tape to protect finish) and re drill Job done! If I bother fitting straplocks, I sometimes find that the supplied screws are smaller than the original screws, but the head on the originals is too large to fit into the button, so I use the same method with the drill to file the head of the screw down to fit Hope this helps someone! Cheers Andy
18. I'd suggest you send an email to the seller of This Item. There are restrictions on what can be listed, but I've seen his "Fecker Jizz Bass" decals and theyre pretty damn good. He should be able to sort you out Andy
19. Check out this clip with BK doing the solo, its about 3.45, and again at about 4.37 and the cameraman actually catches some of it!
20. Yep - me too!! Great Bass!
21. I expect you know about Riffs Bar near Swindon, they do "Half hour sessions" pretty frequently, to showcase unsigned bands, could be right up your street. You could also try the 12 Bar, also in Swindon
22.
Going to have a think about how to deal with the issue of the amp sliding off the top. through it.
What you need is something like this Non slip mat. I got a similar one from Asda for a quid. Completely stopped the LM2 from sliding off an angled back cab
23. How about a Korg PX4D I had a PX3B that I regret selling, really usefull bit of kit
24. My advice would be to listen to loads and loads of blues stuff, practice your major, minor, and pentatonic scales and you will eventually get a feel for it. Dont try and get too clever and over complicate it! Its very difficult to do a couple of sets without repeating yourself, I saw a blues band last night where the bass player played pretty much the same patterns all night, but hey, it all fitted!! (dunno why he had to look at his fingers all night though!) Dave Marks has some useful walking bass stuff on you tube.
25. Interesting one this, I always used to play way too hard, caused by years of practising without being plugged in. Consequently I needed a higher action to stop the strings "clacking" against the frets. I now have a Tascam thingy to practice with, which has really helped, but I think the main reason I can play lightly now, is that since building my BFM O10.5 cabs, I can hear myself perfectly on stage and I dont need to "dig in" to hear myself. Unless I want to!
