I used to get that problem, until I built my BFM Omni cabs, never had it since. The BFM has a very articulate midrange which cuts through the mix very well. You could try boosting the midrange a bit.

Is it an active bass? its normally an indication that the battery is going flat. Try changing it it. Of course, if its passive, it wont be that!

I replaced mine with Switchcraft ones, never had a problem after that.

Its a common problem, you screw the strap button in and the thread has stripped. There have been a few threads on here about it. Happened to me yesterday on an old P bass beater I picked up recently, so I thought I'd show y'all how I deal with it. [attachment=24268:DSCF0001.JPG] First of all I blow all the remaining sawdust ot of the hole, then take a hardwood dowel and fix it into the chuck of my drill, and with the drill clamped in my workmate, switch it on a fast speed and file it down to size. (You can use match sticks, but I find them to be made from very soft wood) [attachment=24261:DSCF0003.JPG] [attachment=24262:DSCF0005.JPG] Here's a before and after [attachment=24263:DSCF0007.JPG] Then I add some wood glue to the dowel, tap it into the hole [attachment=24264:DSCF0008.JPG] [attachment=24265:DSCF0009.JPG] When the glue has dried, cut it off flush (note masking tape to protect finish) and re drill [attachment=24266:DSCF0011.JPG] Job done! [attachment=24267:DSCF0013.JPG] If I bother fitting straplocks, I sometimes find that the supplied screws are smaller than the original screws, but the head on the originals is too large to fit into the button, so I use the same method with the drill to file the head of the screw down to fit Hope this helps someone! My advice would be to listen to loads and loads of blues stuff, practice your major, minor, and pentatonic scales and you will eventually get a feel for it. Dont try and get too clever and over complicate it! Its very difficult to do a couple of sets without repeating yourself, I saw a blues band last night where the bass player played pretty much the same patterns all night, but hey, it all fitted!! (dunno why he had to look at his fingers all night though!) Dave Marks has some useful walking bass stuff on you tube.

Interesting one this, I always used to play way too hard, caused by years of practising without being plugged in. Consequently I needed a higher action to stop the strings "clacking" against the frets. I now have a Tascam thingy to practice with, which has really helped, but I think the main reason I can play lightly now, is that since building my BFM O10.5 cabs, I can hear myself perfectly on stage and I dont need to "dig in" to hear myself. Unless I want to!

You could try inserting a paper clip, or pin into the small hole in the back panel to reset the unit.
