  1. Oh, look, a brown pedal!! In addition to being brown, the DOD FX72 is a great flanger.
  2. The DOD bass stereo flanger FX72. Very nice flanger too.
  3. The Schecter Ultracure is fitted with Ernie Ball Hellcat VI Custom Strings (90-75-56-44-34-24) as standard. Maybe your authentic sound is with light gauges
  4. I currently use Rotosound Swing bass 66 strings. I'd like a set of D'Addario NYXL because I don't like tuning, I am rubbish at it, I spend ages getting that needle to stay in the middle. I could do with strings that have 131%greater tuning stability
  5. That. And if the shop do nothing contact Fender UK directly, you never know. I have dealt with Fender UK after the shop that sold me a bass went under and they sent me spares no problem (but it was still under warranty).
  6. And if you want the full history, there is this Wikipedia article: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fender_Jaguar_Bass
  7. From my limited knowledge, just to get things going. The Jaguar bass first came as a Crafted In Japan (CIJ) instrument, it was a Jazz bass with all the switches, it came in various colours, Fiesta red being one. IDiscontinued. Then came the Made In America (MIA), or US standard, model. It was a PJ configuration, with all the switches and it came in Olympic white, some red (mystic red I think) and sunburst. Discontinued. Then there are the Made In Mexico (MIM) ones, with knobs only, no switches. That’s the ones you are interested in, but I don’t know much about them. They were PJ, came in different scales and colours. They were still in production and have been replaced by the Player range then. And then lots of Squiers.
  8. Never seen one of those. What are the switches for? On/Off for each pickup and Active/Passive or Series/Parallel?
  9. Those switches on the OP’s bass though! Shame they don’t show what they look like when they’re down - looks like you may need to flick it back up by sliding your fingernail under it (or, God forbid, a pick/plec).
  10. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?
  11. Excellent choice, I have the same one 😁 They don’t come up for sale very often so well done for tracking one down - have fun with all the knobs and switches!
  12. You’re quite right, it makes no sense at all. I imagine there is a small cost saving. I only know this because when I got my new laptop I was getting small electric shocks from the casing - the only difference with the old one was that I was using the short connector that came in the box.
  13. The PSU has an Earth contact, it is the round metal bit the adapter slides on. If you check carefully, the cable extension has some metal connectors in there, whereas the short adapter is all plastic (no earth).
  14. Regarding the Mac, the issue is not the PSU as such but the detachable plug bit The short one is not earthed, but the long one (I.e a cable extension) is earthed.
  15. What is the purpose of that huge backplate? Isn’t the whole point of an acrylic body that you can see through it? The Ampeg Dan Armstrong has a much smaller scratch plate as well, for instance.
  16. Nothing is plugged into the mains, so, clearly you’re miming, and that’s a no no. (Probably slap miming as well)...
  17. Very impressive from your mom, but what about you? When was the last time you heard that song and why do you think it came back to haunt you like that?
  18. Thanks @BigRedX. Yes the ATN system, with the selector and the Varitone was what interested me (and the jazz master body shape) - I am a bit of a tinkerer I think, I like switches and knobs - I ended up getting a Jaguar bass in the end. Half of me still wants a Bass VI (or similar), but it would be to learn to play basic guitar stuff, like chords and things without going to the skinny strings side, so my requirements may actually be different from yours. Are you planning to play chords?
  19. Well, that’d be silly because Scott is offering £100 to whoever finds it 🙄 if you read this thread, take it back to Scott’s! 😉
  20. I bought one for the same reason. I don’t use it much (I wasn’t particularly in need of a tremolo/Leslie) but I really like it when I do. The overdrive bit is not crazy but very useable and works very well with the tremolo. Time to take it out again I think.
  21. If you decide not to go the custom route and try one of the Revelations, can you report here? I’d be interested in hearing what you think.
  22. That’s what I meant
  23. I’d say the P will sell faster. But it seems what you really need is to sell both and get a sunburst P with a rosewood neck
  24. I was looking into bass VIs some time ago, and came across the Revelation RJT-60 B, which I quite fancied: https://www.revelationguitars.co.uk/guitar/rjt-60-b/ A fiesta red one would have been ace. 30” and 43mm nut width.
  25. So in terms of construction, is it a neck through graphite neck with some wood wings, and a plastic laminate around it? It looks very nice.
