  1. Certainly be interesting to see how people react to Trivium down the Frog and Twat! Should say though, that if your vocalist is good enough to cover all those types of bands he could be making a fortune on the pro circuit. I went to see Rock of Ages Theatre Show and the singer wasn't amazing but pulled off the Bon Jovi style well and earnt a tonne of cash for a 12 show tour. Maybe tone down the metal, utilise your singer and put together an act that'll make you some money? Truckstop
  2. God, so many prog bands! I like: Grabthroat Shinkicker Truckstop
  3. This is an awesome rig. I've borrowed the exact same rig for a string of holiday park party band gigs and it puts out some serious volume. Certainly enough to hear yourself on those giant 60's stages! The guy I was borrowing it from had the matching 2x12 to make a stack, but I never bothered plugging it in. Just left it on stage for show! Truckstop
  4. Ooh, that'd be a lovely partner to my Sunburst/Rosewood strat. Must check with the missus.... Truckstop
  5. +1 A gentle warm up and something sweet should help in the short-term (ie, on the night). Long term, you need to look at posture, strap height and your practice regime. Another thing to look at is your set-up. Setting the strings higher than you need to means that you need to apply more pressure to the strings with your fingers; lowering the action means it'll be less effort to fret the string. Cramping is also an early sign of tendonitis and carpal tunnel syndrome; if these symptoms persist against these measures, get it checked out! Truckstop
  6. +1
  7. Is that an LTD B-15? If so, what's it like? Cheers Alex
  8. Doom.
  9. Planet Waves cable ties are awesome. I spent a tenner and now all of my leads and backups are kept nice and neat! Truckstop
  10. Well I already have a lovely Yamaha BB425x and I just fancied an LTD. Saw this on GAK reduced to £229 and thought it was an omen so I took a chance. Never thought I'd buy a pointy bass, but there we go! Alex
  11. f*** it, bought an F-105 instead! Truckstop
  12. Probably best to get an active monitor and a slave I'd think? Truckstop
  13. Musician, Bassplayer and Bassist are three different things. I wouldn't call myself a musician because to me that means you have music as a career. Like, you're a pro or you write music and teach instruments as a way of life. A bassplayer is someone who is particularly dedicated to their instrument and is proficient at all disciplines of bassplaying. So you have years of experience, you can play URB, fretless, 4's, 5's etc; you have complete mastery over the instrument. A bassist is someone who plays bass in any sort of capacity. I tell people I'm a bassist because I know how to play some songs on the bass guitar and not much else! Truckstop
  14. Hello all, Looking at getting a new cheap back-up 5er and I've clapped eyes on some ESP Ltd basses. Specs look good, scale length, weight, colour (black) etc all look suited to my needs and I think they look great. Just need to know if it's worth pulling the trigger? The only place that I can find them is GAK in Brighton and it's a bit far away just to try something out so I'm looking for some advice on whether these are worth buying. Any help or info appreciated! Alex
  15. Very cool! Truckstop

  17. Excellent value for money although most people I know use it for modelling (tones) rather than the actual effects. I guess probably because they sound a little weak; a lot of the Behringer effects pedals tend not to sound as good as their Boss etc counterparts. But as far as having loads of effects and loads of tweakability at your hands, it does very well. For a little more money you'd do better to source the Line6 Pod Pro Rack version. Comes with a footswitch for cycling through the effects and much better quality effects and build quality. Alternatively, why are you determined to use rack effects? Why not a multi-fx on the floor? I use the Boss ME-20b which is perfect for my needs (I only ever use octave, drive or delay) and I have a volume pedal built in which is surprisingly useful. On a bigger scale, and has the same functionality as the Behringer, you can get a used Boss GTB-6 for around £120 or a Line6 Pod Live XT. Both great bits of kit and you can carry around your entire 'sound' in a pedal case rather than a bulky rack case. Definitely worth shopping around on this one! Hope this helps Alex
  18. +1 I have one bass (well, I have a Precision for gigging purposes at the moment), one amp and one Multi-FX. I'll need a fiver for a string of shows in the spring that I imagine I'll sell afterwards. Unfortunately after deciding to go all minimalist with my bass gear, I'm looking to expand my guitar rig with another cab or amp, more fx and a baritone 7 stringer for my originals project. It never ends! Truckstop
  19. I'm very curious about this. I've never tried any Hayden stuff; would you mind detailing a few thoughts on it's tonal qualities, it's volume capabilities and it's logistical properties (is it big/heavy) please? Many thanks, Alex
  20. Yeah, did anyone buy 'B-Sides and Rarities'? Loads of 80's covers in there. Having a Deftones day now; cheers Nigel! Truckstop
  21. Its weird, some of my favourite Deftones songs are on their worst album; Hexagram, Minerva and Battleaxe are huge! Truckstop
  22. The end of Remorse is for the Dead by Lamb of God. Man, that whole section just makes me want to bang my head so hard it falls off and headbutts someone in the nuts. Truckstop
  23. Exactly. They have a real organic natural sound which is achieved through clever layering and good production. I hate that the norm is to heavily over-produce everything in metal these days. All those complex riffs and drum parts; they all get engineered to f*** to make them sound perfect, when in real life a lot of the charm of metal music is the tiny inconsistencies from the musicians that give the music a touch of individuality. Truckstop
  24. I like the way that they really change and evolve with each album they put out. Something that not too many bands acheive! Sure they have several qualities that are consistent, Chinos voice, Stefs riffs(!) and just that huge huge sound! Abe's gotta be one of the most underrated metal drummers around, so heavy. But not about blast beats and double-kick; it's all about the groove with him. White Pony's still my favourite though I really enjoyed Saturday Night Wrist. WP holds many many memories for me when I was growing up as a teenager and the album really spoke to me at that point in my life. Is Chi still with us? Truckstop
