1. Looks like a Schecter to me. Head stock may have been remodelled though. Truckstop
2.
... rapacious....
Word of the day toilet paper? If not, then kudos! Truckstop
3. "Learn to read music." - Bilbo
4.
If you think it's funny, quote it in the 'famous quotes' thread in off topic. It's genius.
Yeah but it's a pain in the arse to explain the context most of the time Truckstop
5. He seriously needs to trim his strings before I punch him in the face. God! Just trim them!!!! Nicely done though. Truckstop
6. I was thinking to myself just now that a lot of Basschatters are very funny people and I noticed that most of the time when people post something really funny no-one goes "lol rofl lmao loooooolz etc". I laugh at a lot of stuff on here but never write a post saying so and I feel bad because then I think that whoever wrote the post might think that his/her moment of genius had been lost to the ethers of time. Rest assured, BCers, if you wrote somethin that you think was funny, then someone, somewhere, laughed! Alex
7. Ooh, that is a really sexy bass! Looks like Karl did well to get in there nice and early, I bet loads of people would have nabbed that had they seen it in time! Truckstop Ps. This is what Basschat is about; quality gear at a realistic price! Result: it sells.
8. Or, rather more helpfully, Sue Ryder is a chain of charity shops and last year they had an adundance of 'Sue Ryder' P basses on offer; £59 all in! They turned out to be great basses and ripe for modding. Here, Ian's taken the body off a Sue Ryder and turned it into something very special with upgraded pups, scratchplate and neck. Truckstop
9. Well at the end of the day, it's just a possession and when you gotta start coming up with money for essentials then it's a decision that actually comes pretty easy to me. I have a Precision and an amp so I can keep working and one day in the future I'll get another one! Alex
10. Cheers Nigel, You've hit the nail on the head there; I prefer chunky/wide necks because I have stubby fingers and wide hands. I just dont want to end up with something too small otherwise I'll find it difficult to to play complex chord sequences such as I am want to do sometimes! It's handy knowing now that LP's have chunky necks and that Tele's tend to have similar dimensions to Strats. Obviously a massive over-generalisation, but should help in my search for a main guitar. 11. Awesome, thanks for writing all that out! Very interesting and helps very much! Truckstop

13. Another guy in Hertfordshire ready and willing!! Truckstop
14. This is the biggest bargain I've seen since Sainsbury's did 6 tins of Heinz baked beans for £1. I'd grab it myself if I weren't so painfully skint!! Truckstop
15. Well I always think if it's something you really want, then why not pay over the odds a little? Why risk losing it just because you don't want to spend an extra £20-£30? Back to OP, all my experience with SWR gear has been extremely positive. Just had a look online at the silverado and it looks very decent indeed! Truckstop
16. No, worries. Deleted! Alex
17. Lovely, cheers Loz! Not too keen on that Gordon Smith you linked, but there's plenty of other interesting guitars on that site. Cheers! Alex
18. Edit: deleted for breaking rules!
19. I've been playing guitar a lot recently and getting involved in a project as a guitarist. I have a Squier Strat which is lovely but want something a bit newer and bit more heavyweight. I was just wondering what the main playability characteristics of the main guitar shapes are. Which ones have thick necks, thin necks, traditionally heavy, bright, bassy etc I love the look of Telecasters, but if their necks are too thin I'd never be able to to grips with one! Cheers Alex
20. Yeah you need to have a nice powerful PA to carry all the bass properly and a decent pair of subs. Get a few monitors or in-ears for the band and away you go. Otherwise, yeah. It really is as simple as that! Truckstop
21. Well that's very pretty indeed! Good luck with the sale Truckstop
22. I'm really liking the Pawn Shop range. Especially these! Oly White one's gotta be the favourite! Truckstop
23. Skinny but wide is my enduring impression of a Peavey Millenium I tried a while ago. Lovely sounding bass, plenty of grunt and really well finished. Others have been equally kind of the Cirrus range in particular. Well worth a try! Truckstop
24. Yeah, for 2 grand I'd go for a Sadowsky or Nordstrand instead. Nothing wrong with the Fender or Suhr, just I think there's better quality for the money elsewhere. Truckstop
